I found it strange that there is a coffee shop under a church, but since they are just trying to break even after they pay the baristas, the coffee there is really inexpensive. AND THEY LET YOU DRINK OUT OF REAL MUGS!!! Also, they have board games.

It’s a basement coffee place. The place has a very cool vibe. A lot of students were sitting, chatting, and chilling over coffee. We sat for a while with a glass of mocha. The coffee was very basic, but the place was very cool with a nice vibe. I will go back to spend some time surely.

A great shop to work and relax in for awhile. Very open environment with lots of space to spread out. Kind baristas and I had an amazing Peru pour over! I'll be adding this place to my regular list!

The art group I'm a part of meets here. We've been to several different places but Coffee Underground is by far the best location for making art. We move the tables around and they're cool with it. If you see us, please feel free to join. I head here after work so I typically want to eat something before getting here. They have pastries and bagels but I want a proper dinner. I'm fond of their hot chocolate, though. If I could make a suggestion, I'd consider announcing all orders? My hot chocolate is always announced but some of my pals have ordered chai or something and no notification was made that it was done so it was just sitting on the counter getting cold 😭 It's pretty quiet in here so if the staff said something, it was inaudible. There's free wifi. A playlist of folk/alt rock that falls outside of my tastes is always playing. Turn the funk/prog rock on!!!

I love that I can come here and study in the evenings without feeling like I have to buy anything. They have excellent service and delicious treats, though, so I usually do buy something! Great study and coffee spot.

Great coffee and atmosphere! One of the biggest and most accessible coffee shops near OSU. A great spot to study or play board games (they have an impressive collection.)

An ideal place to enjoy a coffee or a pastry, and meet new people! If you're a new student to Ohio State, come to game night at Coffee Underground on Friday night during the fall/winter/spring and you'll meet probably dozens of new people. If you're a new student, it's the superb place to make connections that can last a lifetime, and if you're a new student from out of town, it's a great a spot to make your new hangout place when you're a thousand miles away from home and away from anything familiar to you.

Super nice place with good coffee!! The staff is so nice and gives good advice on what to order! It is also quiet and a good place to meet up with people to be able to have an actual conversation and hear the other person.

Amazing! Such a cute little place that is a great area to study or hangout with my friends. It is located under a church, don’t be too scared! Their coffee is local, we love supporting our local family, board games, free wifi, free printing, space to hang out or finish work, this place has it all! Their menu is cute, with funny names and three sections for every customer, one for coffee drinkers, one for somewhat coffee drinkers, and one for none coffee drinkers. Their lemonade, lattes, and cookies are bombbb! I'd rather come here than Starbucks, and they're really close to campus which is a bigger plus!

What a great place with a nice cozy atmosphere! They host the Columbus Area Boardgaming Society which is even more awesome. Coffee+board games+snacks...can't think of anything else I'd need.

This is a really great place to study. I've only been there a couple times since it's a bit out of the way from the center of campus, but it's a great calm and friendly place to hang out at! I also like how it's in a church basement - it brings back memories from my Catholic grade school days! The staff are all really friendly and inviting people and the drinks are great!

Solid coffee and a phenomenal space for studying and especially chill in the morning and afternoons. TONS of space, but still has a very cozy vibe even when things get livelier later in the night.

When you walk into this cafe you can just smell the sweet aroma of coffee and the decor and set up is very chill. Students like myself enjoy the ambiance, a calm study environment, and just a place to relax or red a book. The baristas are so nice and very polite. You can play board games while you wait for your coffee.

Found this hidden Gem while looking for a hot drink before a cold day at work. Quiet, very relaxing atmosphere. Drinks were phenomenal, as were the cookies. Highly recommend the Smores cookie! 10/10, would definitely come here again.

  • 5/5 Irina K. 4 years ago on Google
Very good coffee and hands down the best place to study in the evening. They have wifi, lots of space, and board games. It's usually quiet, and there's lots of parking space nearby. The only con for me is that it opens only after 4 on and is closed on the weekends but it's totally understandable. If you need a quiet friendly space to work, this is it!

Awesome place to hang out and study or chat. Great prices for really good coffee drinks.

Wonderful place to go. When I was a student I would come here to study, and now that I've graduated, I enjoy coming back for game nights they host. I enjoy the drink selection, and have found one of my favorites to be a dirty chai latte with vanilla. Although a good option is always a classic cup of iced or hot coffee, especially when they're on special for only $1. Would definitely recommend stopping in and trying it, and let them know it's your first time visiting!

Lovely little place in the bottom of a church. I always enjoy chatting with the staff. They have great coffee, great speciality drinks, great chai, and lemonade that is out of this world. I recommend the lemonade with some peach in it, and the cherry limeade is great too.

They advertise that they'll be open at 4 on weekdays at the church by my house and never are. Take up your advertising signs. It makes you look lazy.

Awesome cold brew! It's in the basement of the church so a bit easy to miss but just go in the glass doors and head downstairs.

I mean I come here all the time. Coffee is pretty good. Workers are aight I like em. My favorite coffee shop that exists beneath a church. But like they excavated the area beneath its not just like dirt.
