Tuesday, July 26, 2022, I was admitted to St Francis Hospital. I was placed in the emergency room for 12 hours in filth. When I was admitted at 7:46 AM, the admitting RN had mopped the waiting room and triage room because housekeeping did not show up for work Monday night. The urinals were never emptied, just another urinal brought, food trays for lunch or dinner were never picked up. Never saw housekeeping staff, was told it was contracted out, staff never reported to work. A absolutely filthy hospital. I have also filed a formal complaint with the Joint Commission and the Better Business Bureau per the advocate who has been assisting me with this complaint. Wonder will I be compensated, or offered any compensation for this horrible experience. 🤔

Staff was friendly and professional. My gripe is after surgery I was discharged and told They couldn’t send my pain med prescription to the pharmacy and that it had to be taken in person. Fine, but why wasn’t this given to my spouse who was waiting in the room with me for quite a while waiting for me in the recovery room so she could have went and had it filled while waiting, or, why wasn’t it filled at the in hospital pharmacy? So we go to the in hospital pharmacy on our way out but they couldn’t find my insurance in their system. Really? I just had surgery there and they had all my information. So instead I was forced to go to my regular pharmacy and wait for hours to get pain medication that was quickly wearing off. Very dysfunctional system.

St. Francis has been absolutely amazing for me and my family. We have always received the highest level of care. It didn’t matter if it were a routine visit or a life saving surgery. The providers and staff consistently exceeded my expectations.

St. Francis Emory Healthcare is a fine hospital. The facility is always nice and well kept. My wife and I just had a beautiful baby girl delivered there. Our care team was awesome! Thanks to MD Dana Cason MD Ritu Chandra MD Chisholm Kirby MD Hatter Melissa MD Handy Kendall for allowing my wife to labor and deliver how she wanted, and for taking such great care of my wife and daughter afterwards. This team is great and St. Francis is great! Thanks Again!

Have you ever heard DO NOT judge a book by its cover?? I brought my dad in with chest pains. It took your facility OVER 9 HOURS TO GET MY DAD IN A ER BED!!!!!! He was having chest pains and you wanted to send him home. I truly believe it is because my dad was dressed in his outdoor gardening pants, shirt and shoes. You definitely make a mistake by thinking that he does not have the assets to pay his bill. You are MISTAKEN!!!! I believe that my dad WAS NOT given the proper or the best to your hospital staff ER ability to provide the quality of care that EVERY PATIENT DESERVES. Your ER staff needs to be taken back to the basics. PATIENTS MATTER!!!!! NOT YOUR OPINIONS OF THEM WHEN THE WALK THROUGH YOUR DOORS!!!!!!! AMANDA THE Nurse Practitioner was the most impolite, rude, NP I have ever met. Showed no true concern for any of the patients.

If possible to give negative stars then I would. St. Francis ER is the absolute WORST!! I took my mom there and we waited over 7 hours to NEVER see the physician. We checked in and waited over an hour for triage, There was a Nurse Practioner in the room during triage but she never indicated any tests to be ordered. Then set down and waited another hour to be told she was getting a CT scan. No one informed us that any tests or lab work was scheduled. The escort came, called her name, and said you are getting a CT scan. The escort was on her phone during the transport to CT. Very unprofessional!!! As my mother was escorted to have her CT scan she was called to have lab work. Every couple of hours the waiting room was informed that they were doing "roll call" to see which patients were still there. I was able to access the results of my mother's test results and everything was normal, still no word from anyone in the facility. Momma was asked to give a urine sample and it was NEVER taken to the lab for analysis. The urine cups for several patients were sitting in the main lobby waiting for analysis!!! I have never seen such disorganization for a Emergency Room!!!! Another patient came in complaining of chest pain, shortness of breath, and dizziness. The receptionist told the person who was with him to complete a form and she would get his info in the system. She also stated that an EKG would be performed to see if he was having a heart attack or not. I did not understand how this was allowed!!!! We will NEVER EVER go to St. Francis ER!! Lakeria the phlebotomist was the only highlight during our SEVEN hour wait.

My experience was moving very well. The lady who checked me in and took care of my financials did a wonderful job. The lady who assisted me with my clothes and preparing me for the bed was wonderful. When the man came in to take my blood, I informed him that, he can't take blood from either of my arms because it doesn't work. He has to take blood from the top of my hand. He didn't listen to me and went into my arms after I repeated myself to him. Well, he didn't get any blood and began to apologize to me. All of this was unnecessary pain I had to endure. Please start listening to the patients. I know my body, I've had it for 63 years. I know what can and can not happen to it. I would have given you all 4 stars if he had of just listened to me. Thank you,

My husband Mario Pintos had a serious condition in his heart On June 28/2023 and we used the Emergency Room and then the Cardiology Area. It only remains for me to thank infinitely because in both areas he was treated excellently. The nursing staff in the Cardiology area were "the best" (Zac) and others whose names I don't remember. But he took his time to explain my husband's condition step by step, despite knowing that my native language is Spanish. Very good doctors and assistants. Thank you all. Silvia Pintos

I give the Doctors and nurses in the ER, OR, and 3rd floor 5 stars. They were kind, helpful, and very cautious. I give the management and other staff 2-3 stars. It was not the most clean, and it was impossible to find our way around all the parking garages, hallways, and locked doors between the ER and the rest of the hospital. This was a weekend and there were no staff present other than a couple nurses and doctors, some of whom were on call that we had to wait for. There was no security and no one checking in visitors. No one communicated anything regarding the bill, so we have no idea how much we owe. We are thankful for great medical care but it could be so much better!

I was referred to be at ENT. Overall service was terrible. Changed my doctor without talk to me and notified me with text 1day before appointment. Made me wait in the hall way while examine room is being ready??? (whatever else is the reason). I was the only one sitting in hallway. Makes me wonder why. When I finally see the Dr. Clinic didn't have my file ready. I had to pay for my co pay for nothing and waisted time. Now I have to wait 5 more weeks to see Dr. Again.

I was brought to the E R by EMS for heart problems, and admitted on Sept. 23, 2023. I did not call my daughter (she was working ) but someone did . She came immediately to the emergency and was told " yes, I was there, and had a $ 100.00 bill, but they would discount it 20% if she would pay $80.00 THEN " She paid MY bill, and THEN was allowed to come back to see me. I felt I was held hostage for $80.00 . I was amazed to learn all of this, and when I inquired , a young lady in the xray dept admitted she had done so. I was never told my daughter was called, she does not live with me, is not responsible for my bills, never written a check on me, and I owed no other bills. I was told she would receive credit. As of today Nov, 13, 2023 she has not. I have made many attempts to get help from the business office with this problem. I have been told she will receive A CREDIT, ONLY, after the hospital is satisfied they have been paid and I do not owe a balance. I was told by the business office this will take approx 30 days.

St.Francis emergency room does not deserve any stars… Let me break it down from a patient and worker prospective. 1. The place is disgusting. If you don’t come in with an infection you will most definitely leave with an infection. Dried up blood is everywhere, the rooms get touched with a sanitizer wipe in between patients. 2.If you ask for the manager she will be little you and has actually asked patients to leave because she didn’t feel their issue was emergent enough 3. The best thing about the ER is the doctors are truly amazing and intelligent 4. The leadership can careless about patient safety and have engaged in arguing matches with patients

ER visit for my spouse for exertional chest pain with a cardiac stent placement one month prior. ER care was excellent, but once admitted to the Heart Hospital his care went downhill. My spouse is a kidney transplant recipient and takes two different anti rejection medications that are administered on a 12 hour cycle so he maintains a therapeutic level in his bloodstream. He had been in his room for hours and was past due for his transplant medication and asked the nurse. He was told “we don’t have any “. Which he took to mean it hadn’t come up from the pharmacy yet. The day went on ( he slept on and off-awakened every hour for labs) and he asked again for his transplant meds. Still nothing—nothing was said to me while sitting with him either. Finally, at 6 pm -48+ hours after entering the facility- he was notified that the hospital did not have the medication at all and couldn’t obtain any. I, however, had just had his home prescription filled a few days prior. So I made yet another trip to take our home meds to him. If you know about transplants, you know how IMPORTANT it is to take these medications. One nurse-on at night and named Nikki-worked on solving the issue over two of her shifts…….she was caring, responsive and LISTENED to our concerns. She was the only positive in this experience. I called the hospital administrator and left a detailed message for a call back—do you think I’ve had the courtesy of a return call?? No, I have not! I am monitoring my husband closely for signs of rejection—-believe me, if that happens, St. Francis administration will be seeing us in court. Absolutely abysmal care!!

The entire staff that attended to me very kind, patient and professional. Debbie was such an amazing person, she kept me laughing while hooking me up for my ekg and my nurse Theresa was very thorough making sure I understood everything. The doctor Dr. Hoffmeister was wonderful she was very professional and through all with a smile. Thank you to the team that took care of me

If I could give zero stars I would. Been sitting in emergency room with miscarriage symptoms for 6 hours. Have yet to be called for an ultrasound. When I tried to ask a nurse about the wait she got snappy with me ASSUMING I had already had an ultrasound and was awaiting results.. very unprofessional, not clean what’s so ever. The entire time I was here didn’t see not one person clean up anywhere. There was even dried blood on the floor in the back. This is unacceptable and absolutely Ridiculous. I have never in my life experienced anything like this. I will NEVER be back ESPECIALLY if my life depended on it

Terrible service is all I have to say, waited over 6 hours or more to be seen. My blood pressure was so high, head hurt so bad. All the young lady at the counter kept saying was it will be a few more minutes, I wanted to just scream. Then the risk management didn't help at all, why are they even there? They didn't even treat me well, had to go to another hospital just to get the proper treatment. I think it's because of people who don't have insurance or any money how they treat people, regardless of how people look or what financial situation they're in. You should never turn your back on them, it could be you in their shoes one day 👍

Came to visit/ help my uncle. He traveled an hour up here and was admitted. He asked for me to come get things out of his truck. I checked in and made it to his room for his keys. I navigated to the Butlers parking lot, without realizing he was in the older parking deck... Could not get back in because every entrance is locked these days. Went to ER and asked how to get back to the other side. I was told to walk around the sidewalk outside. I had trouble figuring out and went back in two more times for help. Finally a patient’s family member in the ER got up to help me. Basically told me to walk the sidewalk on Manchester expressway all the way around to the other side. It’s dark and 22 degrees. I can’t believe staff would not help facilitate showing me or walking me through the building knowing how cold and dark it was outside. I was already checked in with a visitors tag. It was very frustrating and frankly unsafe. They really need to figure out a way to let visitors move around between butlers and the main hospital. Also, I was surprised at how dated and dirty this hospital had become… nor have I ever seen more employees on their cellphones. I asked the man at the visitors desk how to file a complaint and received no answer. He just complained saying he wasn’t even supposed to be doing this job but the person who was “keeps leaving early”. As a former employee and patient on this hospital, I know this isn’t the case for all department or staff, but my experience tonight was far from pleasant.

St Francis is not only the place I work at, but it’s also the place I gave birth to my daughter this March. It has been a great experience to not only be a patient, but also an employee at a great hospital. In both experiences I am/was treated great and the people here make you feel apart of a family.

As always with any medical facility it takes forever to get things done. For the most part, the medical care was great except when it came time to get ready to be discharged. There was a lot of miscommunications or no communication with a specialist who we were waiting for to find out test results so we could be discharged from the hospital. It took about 4 hours after the specialist showed up to get discharged. Not happy with this situation but the care was great while in hospital.

St. Francis Dr. Christine Ruehl took care of me and my daughter and made sure we had a safe delivery. I really appreciate her. Most of the nurses were good. Dr. Ruehl’s physician assistant was the worst. She pressed down on my stomach so hard the day after my C-section and pulled up my stomach without my permission to check my incision scar. She was very nonchalant with the fact that I was in a lot of pain. I feel bad for whoever sees her after they have a baby. But overall good experience.

Took my husband in yesterday with breathing issues. Everyone was super nice, took us right back. Yes we did have to wait a good while…understandably seeing how everyone in America is short staffed. My husband and I were treated with respect and the nursing staff / workers kept popping in to check on us. We arrived at 3pm and left at 1:30am I have no complaints with the staff, cleanliness, doctors nothing. Everyone was great. We understand what it’s like to work, have employees, and short staff. Thank You for the precious folks who were working there during our visit. My concern is security. We entered the ER no one stopped us. I had my purse, and my work knife in my bag. I didn’t think much about it until we were in the waiting area and a gentleman came in with a back pack. Big jacket, and was constantly walking around bothering the staff. The sweet lady that checked us in was checking him in. He didn’t want to sign the box. He was saying stuff to her. While my husband and I was chatting with some friendly folks in the waiting area he chimes in and starts making unnecessary comments that were inappropriate. Everyone is busy helping patients. Where was security? He then starts digging through his bag. I was so nervous. I started digging in my bag ( not for my work knife) but my pocket Bible. I started praying over this situation. We kept looking for security. There wasn’t any. Sorry for sounding judgmental towards this man, but he was already mouthing things to the staff. Wonderful people doing their job…Thank You for the great service. .Please explain how we just walked in with no security check?

ER visit… Called early to get an updated the nurse told me family wasn’t with her and she couldn’t tell me anything but I was trying to tell her that I’m the person who handles everything and she hung up in my face. We have been here since 4pm it’s now 11:25pm she wasn’t hooked to a monitor, blood pressure or O2 wasn’t checked. Nobody has checked on her for hours. We pressed the nurse button and it’s been beeping for 25 minutes. We’ve been waiting on a CT results for 5hours. Doctor came in with motorcycle shades on to say nothing and didn’t inform us he was leaving. I had to call house supervisor for someone to come to the room to apologize and say it’s no excuse and to find out there is a new doctor here trying to catch up cause he’s behind. By the time we see someone it will be shift change again. This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been to. I went to the nurses station and they were chilling and the female nurse looked at me like what the hell you want and kept talking. This one nurse (heavy set guy) was very pleasant. I would rather sleep outside before I come back to St.Francis Columbus, Ga.

HORRIBLE & UNSANITARY to say the least. I had surgery here only to wind up hospitalized with sepsis due to infection from an unsanitary OR. Some of the nurses/techs don't adhere to cleanliness or sanitary standards. Like, who drops a glove on the ground, picks it back up & expects to use it!? Not washing hands, not switching out gloves, or not sanitizing were just a few things I saw. One of the nurse brought me my meds in a container that had a PUBE on it. A nurse named Hedra nearly blew my vein because she was rushing through the process. It was a total nightmare.

The staff was phenomenal. The wait time is problematic. Nurse Tom was amazing, Dr Hoffemeister super thorough. I had hysterectomy Dec 28 a week later, labored breathing. My Dr said go to ER to rule out blood clots. I was in horrible pain and the time waiting was the absolute worst. There has to be a better way to get folks in and out in a more timely fashion. Discovered a lot of wasted time, was because systems weren’t updated as soon as information was gathered. It was a absolute nightmare. Glad I went. Because I had severe pneumonia

I had to have a quadruple bypass operation. I went in on Apr 24th and staff took the time to explain the complete procedures. Not only that but when the operation was completed again the staff took the time to explain all aspects of medicines, procedures, and policies of my care. I was completely impressed. Of all the members that attended me I seem to only recall one and that is Rusty. He was to insure that after my procedure I was able to walk the hallways. I will be indebted to him for his efforts. There were others that attended me, but I do not recall their names. I am sorry that I cannot remember them. Also, on two occasions four of my doctors came into my room at the same time to check my status. This also impressed me. I would love to be able to go back through and say thank you to all whom attended me. Its in our time of weakness that we wish to show our gratitude. Thank you all again.

Had to take my wheelchair bound dad to St Francis for an appt. What a horrible experience. The parking and entrance were confusing. I parked in the garage next to the ER - handicap parking was extremely limited and there was no entrance into the hospital. I asked security, and he pointed to the sidewalk next to the major roadway and said I could push him about 100 yards to the main entrance or drive to the other side. We drove to the other side and handicap parking was even more limited. There was no unload side area for me to get him out the van. The parking spaces were so narrow I could barely park the van in the spot and get myself out. There was no access to the sidewalk leading to the front so I had to push him up the hill in the road. After checking in at the registration desk we waited to be called while the lady at the front desk and the registration lady chit chatted a while. Registration lady called us back - had to maneuver the wheelchair in small spaces. The lady didn't even ask how we were doing. Most of the people were not friendly or helpful. I cancelled my dad's next appt at St Francis and asked the Dr to find an appt in Atlanta because noone else in our area offers what he needs. I gave 2 stars because the people in speech pathology that did Dads swallow test were nice and they were helpful.

Was directed to St Francis ER because Ive been having a series of anxiety/fear attacks with non stop crying - reason unknown. Signed into the waiting room specify that i DID not need to see a medical Dr. but someone with the Psch unit. I was told to inform them of that when I checked in. We waited over an hour for triage, I again checked about seeing someone from the Psych area (was visibly very distressed) they saw me within minutes. Drew blood & did other exams talked to me about my condition. I again mentioned that I was told they had someone I could talk to about my attacks. We were directed back out into the waiting area for 4 hours. While I continue to control my sobbing & distressed. My husband finally asked to speak with a supervisor. They had me listed as having back pain!!!! Another 40 minutes they brought me back into the actual ER where i am still sitting in a chair in a hallway. I was given a shot which took an hour to calm me. I’ve talked to a Dr who mostly asked questions whether I wanted to kill myself or hurt anyone else No & No. now they want a behavioral specialist to see me. Which could take up to 14 days!!! I said what I sit in the hallway for 14 days! They said its been done before!!!! Unacceptable. Finally saw a behavioral specialist at 7:00pm and will be released sometime tonight and recommended I contact a psychiatrist

I had two stents placed in arteries next to my heart. The staff was GREAT, and Dr. Louis Verreault-Julien was exceptional! No pain, he explained everything as it was being done (even if I was a little out of it...). I would recommend St. Francis-Emory Heart Health Care to ANYONE! Thanks so very, very much!

St. Francis has been our preferred choice for the past 30+ years. We love St. Francis! Our family has had many hospital stays over the years. Thankfully, it has been 4 years since any of us have been hospitalized for any reason. My mother(88) fell and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital and subsequently admitted. It was like a bad dream. I’ve never experienced such lack of care and concern. Attitudes were horrible. Nurses and techs bad mouthing each other. Only the bare minimum or minimum effort was given during her stay. There were no smiles. Just stoic and sour faces. In addition, the room was never swept or mopped the entire stay. The only saving grace was the hospitalist. She was the doctor, nurse, tech all wrapped into one! She was what kept us in good spirits despite the surroundings. It was actually sad to experience the significant decline in overall care.

I would have given a 5 but one young lady was so rude in registration. The registration receptionist. I am truly blessed that we were assisted by Ms. Yolanda and wasn't turned away. I am not the patient, my daughter was. All of this because a young lady wouldn't take the time and attempt to find an order. I just wonder how many other people have met the same. A simple "please be seated and we will find that order for you". I sure am glad we met a kind and caring person who helped us.

Today was a very dramatic experience for me , I've never been through such disrespect in my life. Doc. Sean Blake preformed my surgery back in May. Evertime I saw him he tried to release me back to work whether I was progressed or not. Today he saw me after receiving a scheduled appointment and literally push me out along with these 2 females assisting. I was told not to come back there again when was told thur letter to be there at 3:15. No one has contacted me in 4 months and Blake sent inf. to caseworker that never received from my case worker, my never updated me on anything but I was treated so brutal by Doctor Blake's associates and wasn't allowed to speak with him again and was constantly told not to ever come back. This is an emotional brakedown the decision should been delivered in a more professional and respectful manner. I was treated like a criminal and I'm very disappointed by this experience. May God bless and forgive them for the disrespect shown me which was so not acceptable.

The nurses absolutely rock! The rest of the hospital? Not so much. The food not only bad, it's terrible! Dried out turkey slice with equally dried out rice for lunch. Dinner topped that experience. Dried out pasta with scant sauce and mushy vegetable medley. And the cafeteria serves the same"lunch" as served to the patient. Visitors can only get limp french fries, soggy hot dog or dried out cheeseburger. My first job in highschool was as a dietitian aide in the local hospital. The food there was good. Not over the top fabulous, but tasty and well prepared. And that was at a tiny regional hospital in NC well prepared, tasty, and served in an attractive manner.

The care within the hospital was good. However, the release of records is terrible. My husband is in ICU in another hospital in critical condition. They would not release his records to me, his wife, even though I had his power of attorney because it did not specifically say medical records. It took multiple requests from the hospital he is now in before they finally sent them. The results of a test that had been conducted at St Francis was vital to his treatment. It was 3-4 days before the current hospital got the records. This jeopardized his treatment. The records were his by right and a bureaucrat should not be able to jeopardize one’s health. St Francis should investigate this problem in their hospital and correct it immediately.
