Standing tall and mighty, Porta Torre, also known as Torre di Porta Vittoria, is an impressive fortress that reaches a height of 34 meters. It was constructed in 1192 under the guidance of podestà Uberto de' Olevano, serving as a protective stronghold for the main entrance to the city of Como. Additionally, on Sundays, a lively flea market can be found nearby, adding to the vibrant atmosphere surrounding the area.

This one is massive. A nice touch to the old town architecture. Porta Torre gives a good idea of where we are at the moment. This was the entrance to Como town with a proper fortification around the city, starting from here I bet.

It is not thing special. You can have a quick look from outside. You cannot visit on top.

Porta Torre is a well-preserved Romanesque military building. The tower is square in shape. It is decorated with several arches, which probably had a military significance. The tower is made of massive materials, with the aim of better defense and to make it more difficult for the enemy to conquer.

Porta Torre is one of the most beautiful gates in the north of Italy and one of the distinct symbols of the city. Above the arched entrance gate, two rows of gallery windows climb up to a height of four stories.

Very disapointing we had been there yesterday and you can't walk through it because it seems this one is breaking apoarts slowly but truly there were many little stones on the floor and lots of birds inhabiting it.

Great location, lots of small Bar set ups with seating in and outside. Located on the outer edge of the main shopping area of Como.

The entrance (or the exit) of the old town of Como. Nothing more nothing less. Just take a photo and walk.

We walked along the Saturday market and went through this gate. It's a really cool tower. But, that's it.
