The museum is dope, a great opportunity to walk around in a space full of colored people art which is very enduring. The museum always has themes that make you think of a bigger concept attached to the art. An iconic spot to visit in in the center of Compton.

This was a total surprise to find this place. I went back to eat at the soul food restaurant Alma’s in the retail complex since before Covid. After getting food I look up and see the store. Being nosy, we went in to find a beautiful small gallery of art from local Compton born artists. The staff were warm and welcoming. (There’s also a good vegan-Mexican-Chinese restaurant in the complex too). It’s focused on promoting the beauty of Compton from the perspective of its locals. The staff even took the time out to show us around the community center upstairs for youth to learn about expressing themselves through music, photography and editing. It’s an impressive place and you should go check it out. It’s free to get in but I bought a wonder sweatshirt made local kid art. I cannot wait to go back. Let’s find a way to keep this gem open for a long time.

Very dope experience! Appreciate a staple like this in the community with people working there who truly care about the work/art and the people coming in to patron. Looking forward to the next exhibit. 50yrs of hip hop was wonderful.

I recently had the chance to visit the Compton Art and History Museum for its soft opening and I was so impressed and pleasantly surprised by what I saw and got to experience. What you get when you go inside is a magnificently curated intimate space currently featuring Anthony Lee Pitman’s “Sons Like Me” exhibition. I can’t stress enough how amazing and powerful the art work is. In addition to the exhibit, there’s Compton archival footage displayed from the 1960s. I would definitely recommend everyone visit this wonderful creative space in the city of Compton!

A Masterpiece of Art and Community in the Heart of Compton I had the immense pleasure of visiting the Color of Compton Museum, a vibrant and essential addition to the city's cultural landscape, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Living in Northern VA area, I had heard about this unique space through the grapevine and decided to make the trip specifically to see it. It was a decision I will never regret. The city of Compton has long needed a place like this—a space that celebrates art, uplifts local artists, and fosters a sense of community and pride. The Color of Compton Museum does just that. Walking through the museum, I was struck by the incredible array of artwork on display, from talented local artists who have brilliantly captured the spirit and resilience of Compton. It's truly remarkable to see their work showcased with such respect and prominence. The museum is owned by a wonderful couple whose passion for art and dedication to their community shines brightly. They were incredibly warm, friendly, and knowledgeable, taking the time to share stories behind the artwork and their journey in creating the museum. Their love for what they do is contagious, and it's clear that they have poured their hearts and souls into creating a space that is as inviting as it is inspiring. Whether you're a local resident or visiting from out of town, the Color of Compton Museum is a must-visit destination. It serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of art, and the vital role it plays in community building. I left feeling uplifted, inspired, and already eager to plan my next visit. Thank you, Color of Compton Museum, for being a beacon of creativity and community in the heart of Compton. Your impact is immeasurable, and I can't wait to see how you continue to flourish in the years to come.

I’ve been here several times as a DJ and a guest with friends and family, and I’ve enjoyed it each time. I've seen them showcase three different art exhibits, and each one has highlighted the talent around Compton. It's definitely worth the trip to Compton to check out.

A beautiful place, fully representing the artistic vision of Compton. Doesn’t cost to enter, but I couldn’t help but donate to their cause.
