Was looking for the "local taste" of Cookeville and definitely found it here. Awesome divey but nice local atmosphere. Cool bar area. Prices and staff great.

Excellent restaurant and fantastic service. (Thank you Tia) Everything was great from appetizer to our meals 😋 Very generous portions. The spinach artichoke dip was great. The bacon wrapped filet was cooked perfectly, and the chicken Diane was great also! Very reasonably priced as well! Highly recommend this restaurant to all!

Chicken quesadilla was EXCELLENT! I was stuffed and still had more and had to make myself stop eating it. The sweet tea was only a hint sweet making it a great taste! Lainey was a superb waitress especially considering she was having to work as many tables as she had.

I went to Spankie's for the first time tonight with two friends who are regulars there. We had appetizers to share and everything we had was amazing. The prices of the food were very reasonable for the portions. I will definitely be going back again.

Spankies is a great TTU hang out with a lot of great tradition. The food is great and the service is outstanding. If you go for lunch be sure and get the cheese bread! It is dangerously good.

The food is alright, but honestly it is way too expensive for the quality of food, drink, and service. I have always had problems with Kat/Cat, a server who is very rude, inattentive, and spends more of her time chatting with coworkers than checking on customers. You have to flag her down or else she won't check in other than to give you your bill, which gets annoying to have to do over and over and is always met with an eye roll, blank face, or annoyed sigh. Have never once had a good experience with her and every time my friends and I go and we are served by her, we go into an uncomfortable silence because her catty attitude (go figure) puts a damper on our mood. I honestly don't know how she still works there Additionally, if you like cocktails don't go here. Too expensive and mediocre, their "open bar" I suspect is mostly utilized by guys wanting a beer after work, wine drinkers, and college students who want to get hammered on shots. There have been three occasions where I have ordered a COMMON cocktail and gotten the wrong thing when I have never had this problem at any other bar. I ordered a Paloma once on a Tuesday or Wednesday (so not busy) and it took the bartender a good 20 minutes after the waitress told him my order and he out loud went "uh what's a Paloma?" I mean seriously? You're better off going somewhere else or mixing drinks at home.

1st time going to Spankies and I’m hooked! The chip & guacamole are amazing You get more chips than you could imagine! The Tuna Tartar was A first for me I’ve never had that and my friend who took me to lunch there, ordered it, and I tried a bite, and it was actually surprisingly very good. I’ve never had tartar and was skeptical, but the presentation, the flavor, and everything about it was amazing. The Thai lettuce wraps, if I’m being honest were a little underwhelming that was the only thing that I didn’t love at Spankies I ordered the chicken tostada salad and it did not disappoint I will definitely be ordering that again. Next time I go. The atmosphere was great for a casual lunch with friends or even a date spot. We ate inside. They also have outdoor seating the staff amazing.

All of the food was outstanding, and portions were massive. There was something on the menu to satisfy every taste. The potato salad in particular was exquisite. Jackson took excellent care of us, and we are sure to return.

Atmosphere is nice. Quesadilla was very crispy. Spinach dip is one of the best I've ever had, I'd recommend it every time. Mushroom risotto was greasy and not very flavorful. The roasted potato and the rack of lamb were amazing, and I devoured them.

Wonderful place. Waitress was so great! Good food!! And they had cakes! Really dark for a restaurant but that was the vibe! Will be back.

Definitely recommend the Firefly drink on Friday’s as a $4 special; it was made very well and tasted great, very refreshing if you like sweet tea. Service was good. Relaxing atmosphere. Food was okay, limited menu options but everything we ordered tasted pretty good. On the upper scale of $20 per meal.

A nice local place that everyone should try. The chicken on a stix is phenomenal, as are the roasted potatoes. The garlic bread also a fantastic flavor. The lunch setup is a little weird, and the guy at the counter could've been friendlier. I will be visiting again though.

Nice spot close to campus. Busy at lunch time when we arrived. Our server hustled big time! Definitely will be back when in town.

Our first time eating here and it was the best! I had the Jack Daniels Chicken w/ Basmati Rice and Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes! My cousin's dish was Fish (Grouper) and Chips, instead of chips she got Yukon Potato Salad, Southern Slaw and Fried Okra. We were given a couple slices of complementary Spankies Bread after we sat down and it was delicious! We were able to eat about half of our meals before we were full! This is a local place that has been in business for over 30 years. Jordan our waitress was an absolute delight!

I was so disappointed tonight with my meal. I have had the fish and chips before. I had wanted a friend to try it. We ordered tonight so they could try it. We got the meal home and the fish looked like it was out of a frozen food bag. It was not anything like the other. I had bragged about. It wasn't even good. I hated this because I always have love the food there.

Came in as a party of 6. Enjoyed the atmosphere, the free bread, and the food. We always enjoy local spots when visiting new places. But if you have a cheeseburger beware it has mayo on it and it doesn’t say it does on the menu. LOL

Felt like a cheap dive bar on a Sunday afternoon. Food wasn’t cooked right, felt sticky in there, and the waiter was more worried about a blonde at the bar than he was about filling our glasses. Won’t be back!

Would give negative but it won't let me I try to be positive and I really don't like giving bad reviews but this one was special called and asked a question got a quick ride NO and as I'm asking a question or trying to it was basically sorry about your luck and click hung up on way to treat a potential customer who is willing to get 20ish possibly more 2 times a week gathering of thirsty hungry friends together for several hours so most don't care but in reality with a low figure it's easily $5000 a month in business but hey it's all good hopefully someone else will appreciate my business opportunity

Very dissatisfied with this restaurant. All of the waitresses have their hair down and play with their hair. I witnessed a waitress remove hair off of her body just tossing it anywhere. I witnessed the cook eating while he was cooking. It took 45 minutes for me to get my food when it first opened and it was not busy. My waitress was more concerned about gossiping and showing pictures on her phone and actually serving her Customer.

Pleasantly surprised by how delicious the chicken parmesan was! Still a bar vibe in a college community but a great spot for a bite to eat

We used to go every couple of weeks and it was very good. I don’t know what happened, but the last few times the food wasn’t very good at all. Overcooked, undercooked, not tasty….. Maybe they changed cooks. Good atmosphere and nice staff. It was one of our favorite places and we’re easy to please. Our group is hesitant to go back now because nothing is inexpensive anymore. I hope it improves.

Small restaurant and bar near Tennessee Tech that's been around for a long time. It has a nice, laid back feel and there's a tent covered outdoor area where you can eat if you wish. The menu has changed over time but the food remains good. We had a couple of the OG dishes; I had the 'Chicken Stix' which is grilled chicken on skewers with a baked potato. Both were cooked well and very tasty, but to me the chicken was a touch on the plain side. It was still cooked very well, being moist and not dry at all; I just felt it could've used some sort of marinade or sauce. The waitress was happy to bring me a cup of one of the many sauces they have, which did help. My sister had the 'Lemon Chicken Pasta' which she loves and orders often. I just wanted to point out that it's not what you might imagine when thinking of lemon chicken. It has a tomato based sauce with vegetables and has a slightly spiced tang to it. It's not my taste but lots of people do seem to enjoy it. Spankies is known for its bread which is a sort of yeasty bread with a soft, fluffy middle and a moist, cheesy topping. I was a bit disappointed that it was rather stale/dry on this visit, but it's probably the first time it's ever been this way on any of my visits. We were there right during lunch rush so that might have been why. Even though they were busy, our waitress was still attentive.

Typical college dive bar with a grill. It was dark, dank, and wreaked of 2nd hand cigarette smoke. Bathrooms were foul, and service was real slow. The food tasted good and portions were large, but it gave me bad heartburn for hours. I'm sure it's a fun hang out for the students, but not a nice place for Sunday dinner. Needs a deep clean with bleach.

Visiting family and trying different places. This was by far the most expensive and worst food. I ordered fish and chips. Fish was cold, undercooked and mushy, not crispy. I complained and was brought out another plate of equally cold, undercooked and mushy fish. Hubby ordered the hamburger steak, well done. It was raw. This could be a charming location but for the lackadaisical food prep.

The food was definitely good and it's food I would for sure eat again, but the service was subpar. First, I was really confused why they had 3 or 4 different waitresses taking care of the SMALL patio instead of just leaving it to one or two. Second, it took over an hour and a half for our food - though my father-in-law never got his and so he finally got his in a to-go box. Third, the bills were completely messed up. I mean it might have been the first time the girl was on her own serving but it was just a hot mess. The first drink I ordered wasn't even what I had ordered!

Wednesday night, party of 8 outside, seated at 5:30 Place started filling up. Food order put in at 6:30. Food not delivered by 7:50. I found server and had it packed up. Paid. Left premises. Ate in car: no utensils included. Great food. Bad experience. Understaffed kitchen and wait staff KILLS business. 😣 Not good for big groups. Don't be on a time schedule. Order food quickly so the wait isn't as long.

Great prices on all their drinks and food. Bartenders and doorman were great. Made you feel like you were a regular. But it was my first time there. And they had a live band that was really good. If I'm ever in the area I will definitely go there. You need to try it you won't be disappointed.
