The Desoto Plaza Fountain is named for Hernando de Soto, Spanish explorer and conquistador who led the first European expedition to the United States. Built in 1925 it the located at the intersection of Seville Ave, Granada Blvd, & De Soto Blvd and is in close proximity to the Venetian Pool. It is one of the numerous plazas, entrances, and fountains that give Coral Gables the nickname The City Beautiful. In the center of the traffic circle plaza is a magnificent pedestal fountain surrounded by marigolds. The fountain is in a neo-baroque style which is a French architectural style of the late 19th century. It was designed by Denman Fink, the uncle of Coral Gables founder George Merrick. He designed all of the original entrances to Coral Gables, the original water tower in the shape of a light house, and Coral Gables city hall. The pedestal-type fountain supports an obelisk and features four relief carvings of faces containing water jets. At night vintage lanterns light the fountain.

Beautifully maintained. Not a pedestrian area but lovely area for dog walks (on leash)

Such a beautiful spot, remember to throw a penny like in all Italian fountains, for me this is a great point to show to all the tourists.

A delightfully artistic fountain adorns a traffic circle connecting roads to Venetian Pool and Biltmore Hotel Resort.

Wonderful and peaceful fountain. I love to bike here and just look at the horizon with the sound of the water behind me. Truly a pleasant monument if theres not so many cars going by lol, I mean it is in the middle of a large roundabout. A lot of people like to take pictures here due to the imposing presence of the fountain and the beautifully built houses around it.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great place to have a party and a social gathering. There's a stage for a band and DJ. The bathrooms are stylish and clean. They have a fully equipped professional kitchen. The foyer is a nice place too to set up a bar or a relaxing place to serve appetizers. They have two ball rooms. One upst...
