Drove by Monica’s so many times and didn’t stop. Tonight my wife and I looking for a late supper decided to stop and try Monica’s. WHAT HAVE WE BEEN WAITING FOR!! It was such a treat, from the moment we stepped in we felt welcomed. Cassidy, our waitress, was just fantastic and her knowledge of the menu and the pride she showed in working at Monica’s was so great to witness. We eat out all over between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City and tonight at Monica’s was one of our best restaurant experiences!!

We got to Iowa City late, the staff was awesome even tho we showed up 30 minutes before the kitchen closes, and they were still quite busy! Staff are well trained, polite, professional attitudes! Food was fantastic, HUGE portions!

The margherita pizza and Creme Brulee dessert was delicious! I had a great Mia Tai cocktail and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

The menu at Monica's is chock full of favorite comfort foods, you can't go wrong because there is something for everyone here. They serve the best homemade white bread and cinnamon butter, or you can go for the wheat bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese. I've eaten here many times and the food is consistently good but beware it's on the pricey side. My only complaint was the server being a little delinquent in satisfying our needs. For a table of 5 we spent well over $100 and I would've expected better service to help justify the overpriced menu. The atmosphere tries to be upscale with white linen table cloths and soft jazz music playing in the background, but when your college student waiter is wearing a t-shirt and gym shorts the mood is completely ruined. Overall, we will return just for the food when our budget allows.

Great, friendly service with a packed restaurant after a Hawkeye victory!! Our party of 4 was served some very good good food in a timely manner. This was my first trip to Monica's and I was impressed with the wide variety on the menu. I definitely will try the pizza on our next visit.

Great food and drinks at an excellent value. Monica runs an amazing operation. I’ve worked in several restaurants and have dined on every continent. Her staffing choices and training are clearly exemplary. You won’t find a more well oiled machine anywhere. Truly impressive. The benefit to the customer is great food served quickly at fair prices. A real gem.

Very nice attentive staff. Helpful and nice. We ordered salads outdoors. Patio is next to parking lot but we went late afternoon on Sunday so it seemed fine. I had the Brie, walnut, pear salad and added shrimp. It was so good! Bread was on the table and it was also delicious. Cannot wait to bring more friends here to try some more off the extensive, interesting menu! We ordered off the dinner menu so portions would be larger.

Wonderful and definitely a treat. We loved everything we tasted, along with the classy meets old school type (in a good way!) of an atmosphere. Extremely gluten free knowledgeable and accommodating with an extensive separate menu. The gluten free buns, oh my! Totally worth the $1 charge as they are made from a local bakery and to die for! All the cocktails are made in-house with no pre-made mixes so nothing to worry about by there, either. Our waitress was on it with everything and all the food was excellent. Highly recommend!

Excellent entrees. Calamari was older but still an acceptable appetizer. Sauces are fresh and flavourful. Staff was attentive and professional.

We were visiting children at college and the original place we wanted to go to was closed, so we tried this location and are glad we did. First and foremost, the staff were extremely friendly and professional and were very attentive to our needs. I personally had the baked ziti dish, which is claimed to be the #1 Italian entrée and it did not disappoint. For dessert, we highly recommend the Amish Pie and ice cream. Haven't had anything quite like it and it was delicious.

I always love coming to Monica’s whenever I’m in the Coralville area! It’s my go-to for date night with the bae. My absolute favorite meal is their Buffalo Chicken Burrito 🤤 it is a MUST! I also LOVE the atmosphere of the restaurant. It gives 1920s vibe but in a casual manner. The service is ALWAYS above and beyond! Always checking in on ya and making sure your experience is great 😍 If you never checked out Monica’s, let this be your sign to do it! ✨

Our server was nice and prompt! The french dip roast beef sandy was excellent but the salad wasn't for me. The ranch dressing was very addicting and the other person I was with did not like the chicken noodle soup. Yet it was a nice location and looked appealing. I'd say id go back if I wanted the roast beef sandwich but if I'm not in the mood for that then I don't know what to tell you unless your paying!

Did take out. Ordered a salad with pears, walnuts, brie and grilled chicken. Only received lettuce and walnuts. I was starving and really needed some protein. Paid full price. Had no time to go through a fix, had to go back to work. Was traveling through. $25

A university-themed sports bar & restaurant. Active, multi-screen bar & row of booths divided by a glass partition from a quieter, larger dining area of tables w/ a street view. Staff was attentive, polite, & efficient. Our off-season Sunday summer afternoon visit was pretty low key. We had a classic thin-crust margherita pizza w/ fresh mozzarella & basil that was fresh & tasty. The menu itself was diverse & extensive. Not a complaint, but it was a little pricier than we were expecting, something to consider if you're a large family.

The service was slow. Food was good. The prices for upscale were decent 15-25. Lots if parking. They were very busy. Buffalo chicken sandwich. Get 2 buns. French dip. Great Au juus. Seating is a Lil packed. Going back.

Live Monica's, go there almost any occasion. Always great food, attentive staff, great ambience. The music is retro and perfect for anyone. Think Dean Martin and Ol Blue Eyes sort. I've tried several things on the menu and so have friends and family, and we don't find bad anything. Their sign brags about their award winning, and it's true. Cute back story on them also. Read the menu for it, and ask the wait staff questions.

Made reservations for 14 people and restaurant had more than ample space to accommodate our party plus some other large parties as well. Everyone spoke highly of their meals and ate pretty much everything. I'm vegan so i can only speak to what i ate, the black bean burger with no cheese and condiments on the side. The burger was decent but as most bean burgers, crumbled a little bit as i ate. The bread brought out was fresh and very tasty. Staff and service was great and would recommend.

Had a late lunch/early dinner. Wonderful menu with a great variety for all palettes. Pizza and feel good food filled the menu along with great Italian comfort food options. I elected the Tater-tot casserole which was every bit of a casserole but if I were going to be totally honest, the casserole gravy was a bit bland. The tater-tots were AMAZING however and they made up for the lack of seasoning in the gravy and veggies. Mt wife ordered the cheese ravioli and it was DELICIOUS. We both agreed it was tasty and the portion was just perfect. My sister in law order the Buffalo chicken sandwich and I must admit I had IMMEDIATE meal envy... that thing looked like a food fantasy come to life. Those Buffalo chicken tenders were thicker than my palms and the three of them could stay on the sandwich no matter what... it was beautiful. We will definitely go back... service was timely and not overbearing. The only knock I had was that the grain of the pepper was larger than the pepper holes in their pepper shakers, but they had a pepper cracker available so it became a non-issue. Definite 5 star if only the pasta and Buffalo tender sandwich and a plate of onion rings were ordered. I look forward to trying the rest of their menu in the future

After the last few years and getting the same dish I can say the quality of the dish has diminished not only in quality, but quantity. I ordered the black fettuccine with lobster and it was basically black noodles with three smaller chucks of lobster. This dish used to have a fair amount of lobster and sauce. Unfortunately I was disappointed in this dish and honestly feel $26 isn’t worth it. I will say the bread pudding was delicious as always.
