I really enjoyed the vegan carbonara as I was really curious about it, having discovered it through a related profile in Instagram I follow with passion which relates to the vegan and traditional cuisine in Rome.(Not a vegan myself) Although I haven't got to meet Marcello and for me it was all the point as I had no doubt about the carbonara being amazingπŸ‘ but I would have loved more interaction being Italian and a foodie no one from the staff was really interacting much. I don't know if make sense maybe I was just having in my mind a type of Italian vibe that didn't feel. Hope this aspect will improve but will still like to come back again for the carbonara! And looking forward to go to Rome now. :)

What a nice place to enjoy a meal. I was quite surprised but their separate two page plant based menu. I mean it’s hard to find vegan food at Italian places but this restaurant went above and bring to create a plant based version of the most beloved Italian dishes. The servers are great and friendly. The ambience is nice and it’s relatively cheap We were a party of two and paid 43€ on one occasion and 38€ on the second. Tomato basil soup πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ€™πŸΌπŸ€™πŸΌ

All the food we ordered was so delicious! Almost every pasta dish could be prepared gluten free and they were helpful with different dietary requirements. Portions were perfect, presentation beautiful. Service was very careful and attentive. I’m so glad we found this gem for our large group dinner!!

Absolute gem of a place for so many reasons. We were a family group of 15 and a had a variety of dishes. Pizzas are delicious (the pizza base is perfectly light and chewy at the same time), the pasta is al dente, generous portions and everything was just very tasty. The staff were lovely as well. Family friendly, but also really great for a group of friends with an extensive cocktail menu. Price is extremely affordable too. I cannot wait to go back to try other dishes. Highly recommended.

I'm vegan and their carbonara is to die for. My friends steak was perfectly cooked and pasta was tasty. Staff were very helpful and the service was great. Will go again and bring friends next time I'm in Cork. Would highly recommend.

Our first time coming here for dinner as we love pasta and I have to say the food and service was amazing, I had asked if I could make some changes to the dish I was ordering and they were very accommodating. The only thing that could be better is the garlic bread, little to no flavour and very soggy. Other than that will definitely be returning in the future.

I've had dinner here several times over the years, and the food is consistently good. Best (for me) is the large number of vegan options, something you rarely see in an Italian restaurant. The last time we were there, several of the vegan options were not available, but there was still a very decent choice. Service is usually very friendly and accommodating. The only downside is that when it's busy (as it usually is on Saturday evenings, for example) it gets VERY noisy. So much so, that it's hard to have a conversation with the people at your table. There are no 'quiet' tables or corners either, so if you have a hearing issue this is probably not the place to go on a busy night. Having said that, acoustics are a problem in the majority of restaurants as it's usually an afterthought when places are designed and kitted out. Still, Marcello's is one of my favourite places for eating out. You also get good value for money as portions are generous and prices are not excessive.

You only get one chance to make a first impression, and as far as Marcello's in Douglas is concerned, they failed miserably, on my first visit there I was looking forward to a nice meal with family, and although the menu's available offered a choice of Pasta dishes or Burgers, I decided to choose the first named, by dining Italian style. As a starter, I chose the Garlic Bread. When my portion of same arrived, it was two miserable looking pieces of extremely stale bread with a dollop of garlic butter on them. It tasted dreadful, but as I was being treated to an evening out, I did not wish to create a scene and hoped that my main course, Spaghetti Bolognese would redeem the situation. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I was served an absolutely tasteless dish of re-heated hard mince and spaghetti, which was completely devoid of flavour, and garnished with another slice of stale garlic bread. Again, as I was a guest, I refrained from commenting, but I was extremely disappointed and angered, that a substantial group of people such as ours, would be served with what can only be described as junk food. No chef worth his or her salt would serve up such rubbish. I knew looking at my companion's ( mostly pasta type dishes) that they were none too happy, but again as guests on a night out they did not complain either. I had enjoyed numerous meals out during 2022, and I regularly visit family, in the Douglas region of Cork, but I would be extremely reticent to return to Marcello's following this experience. The Owner/Management of this establishment should have a serious conversation with whoever was responsible for preparing and serving this dreadfully disappointing meal. They are not doing you any favours. As a regular reviewer of restaurants where I have dined, I always try to give a balanced and fair opinion of the premises, food and service. The restaurant was very well presented, the tables nicely laid out, and the staff on the evening were extremely welcoming, efficient, and child friendly, but regrettably, and most importantly, the food was unacceptably sub standard. Perhaps things will improve in 2023. Michael. Dublin.

Really nice place for some food and drinks. Well located in the heart of Douglas with great staff and great food. Pasta and pizza alike are delicious, the tomato sauce is so rich and tasty it makes the pizza standout even more Prices are very good too! Couldn't fault this place I will defo return

Very disappointing for 16€. A spoon of soggy vegetables literally 3 potato wedges that probably where made during lunch. The meat and sauce looked like out of a microwave meal and except the tomato sauce you didn’t taste anything. This is no Italian cuisine nor Italian food! Hope they do better if you dine in, for me not again. I will cross the street to Palmento.

Delicious Gnocchi and homey atmosphere. The garlic bread with the gnocchi was amazing. Recommend that meal.

Gorgeous food. Really delicious. Made with love. Excellent service. We were still talking about it at breakfast! Doesn't look much from the outside but if we lived nearer we would visit regularly. This is real food cooked. Highly recommend it.
