Excellent guesthouse, great comfortable bed and nice bedroom. The room was nicely decorated and you had a view of the garden and the harbor in the background. They have a wide array of breakfast and their eggs, including duck eggs (duck eggs) are organic. It's a great place to stay when you are in Cork.

We are just leaving Gabriel House after a fantastic 3 night stay. Gabriel House was possibly the most warm and welcoming place I have ever stayed. Kathleen and Valerie greeted us every morning and every time we came in, asked us how our day was going, what our plans were, etc. The whole place is immaculately kept, the staff are all incredibly friendly, and the breakfast is DELICIOUS (try the eggs Benedict). GH is about a 10 minute walk to Oliver Plunkett street but there are plenty of places to eat within a 5 minute walk. Our family of 3 was very comfortable in a Queen/Twin room, even with all of our luggage strewn about. The only thing I could find to complain about would be that the beds are a bit firmer than I like, but that is obviously personal preference, so I’m not faulting them there. They also have a lovely garden area, which was great for having coffee or just enjoying the sunshine, and our daughter loved checking on the chickens, canaries, and ducks every day. When and if we come back to Cork, we will be staying at Gabriel House!

Excellent location, a short walk to the city centre. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, breakfast was very tasty. Really nice garden at the back of the property. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfy. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and was impressed with the guesthouse overall. A great place to stay😃

What an absolute gem of a place. The staff could not have been more friendly & welcoming, when you're travelling alone that's such an important thing. I requested an early check-in which was fully accommodated, received recommendations of where to eat and even help about how travel best down to the RTÉ studio. Even the offer of an umbrella for it raining! Breakfast was fabulous with a beautiful buffet choice and a nice hot menu. I stayed in room 18 and whilst small, it's absolutely perfect for one person for a night. Everything was spotless. I really could not fault this place and their staff are an absolute credit to them. It's only a short walk right into the city centre to.

Fantastic guesthouse. Went with my wife and kids and stayed in a large family room on top floor. Great views of the city and room was spotless. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of options. If I am travelling to Cork again I would definitely stay here again without a second thought. Couldn't recommend enough

We stayed here in June. The yard is wonderful, so quaint and beautiful, my fiancé had big proposal plans but we found it so wonderful he actually just proposed in the yard. The people at the counter were so kind and helpful. Also, a quick (uphill!) walk from the train station. We were able to do everything we needed on foot. Also, that had to be the most comfortable bed we stayed in during our entire Ireland trip. Seriously don't miss this place if you are in Cork!

What a great bed and breakfast and wonderful location. The Gabriel house is about a 10 min walk from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were greeted by the women at the front desk when we arrived in the evening. She gave us some great dinner suggestions and directions as well as which bus to jump on to get back to the B&B. The rooms were clean and cozy. We were on the top floor which was a great work out going up and down(especially with our bags), but the view was so worth it! AMAZING!!! Breakfast the next day was absolutely delicious. Fresh hot just absolutely wonderful. It was great to see the staff sit down together for breakfast as we were just finishing up. There is a garden behind the house and they have chickens, ducks and some other animals. We could definitely taste the fresh herbs in our breakfast. We enjoyed our breakfast so much we decided to do breakfast at the B&B the next day as well.

I had a lovely stay with my wife while in cork to see a concert. The staff were super friends and helpful. Full of the chats. Highly recommend this place. The car park is on a steep hill so becarful and slow.

The location was perfect, the room comfortable, and the breakfast incredible! However, it lost a star because they put us in a family room right off of reception and we could hear people come and go throughout the evening and night. It was a bit rough with young children.

It was a good stay. The staff were friendly and nice to our dog. They gave us a room behind the reception when we asked for one on high floor to stay away from the noise. The room and facilities were very clean and the space out the garden for the dogs was AMAZING ! The hotel was very well located. Parking space was good too. Would give it another try when in Cork

This was a very nice B&B in an old Victorian building, although the website gives the impression of a somewhat posher and more polished accommodation. It's conveniently located, walking distance to train station and center of town. Rooms were simple, and comfortable, and breakfast was yummy. I needed an electrical adaptor and they had one handy for me. We had a few very minor issues — lack of hot water for showers at peak times, sink did not drain well. Overall we were very happy with our stay and prefer this to a modern corporate style hotel that accommodates huge tour buses and lacks character.

Gabriel Guesthouse is great. Rooms are very cosy and we had a window right out into the garden out back. The garden outback has a kitchen garden, places to sit and some animals. Our included breakfast was very tasty, you get to have a selection from a buffet and a menu as well. They also let our dog stay so that was very good as well. Very recommended

Fantastic B&B within easy walking distance of the town centre (under 10 minutes). I walked up, after getting off the bus from the airport at the bus station. The guesthouse was easy enough to find using Google Maps. I arrived a few hours before check-in and was allowed to leave my bag. After spending a few hours exploring the city I returned to check-in. I was warmly greeted by Kathleen, who was amazingly helpful. In fact all the staff I met here were fantastic - very accommodating, and extremely helpful. Our rooms were super clean, and very comfortable. The shower was fabulous, and toiletries were provided. The breakfast though was something else! There’s a fantastic array of fruit, cereals, and pastries, which you can help yourself to. On top of that you can also pick a cooked breakfast - there’s a great choice of options - and the portions are MASSIVE! Put it this way…I’ve never been defeated by an omelette before! But seriously, everything is fresh, cooked to order, and tastes divine! Loved the lattes from the coffee machine too. We absolutely adored our stay here, and would definitely return again! Highly recommended.

I stayed here in May 2023. Kathleen and her staff are very well organised, friendly and cheerful, and have worked together for a number of years. They provide a breakfast that is as good as, if not better, then many four-star hotels. There are frequent buses up and down the road outside that go into town and also to the bus station. You can walk to the town centre in about 15 minutes. My fellow guests were quiet and civilised, my bedroom clean and comfortable. Guests can also sit in the attractive garden with the two friendly, very well-behaved dogs! As an elderly, single lady I felt very well looked after by Kathleen who went out of her way to provide for my needs and make sure I was comfortable. I definitely recommend this place.

Lovely guesthouse. Kathleen, the manager, a lovely lady with a great sense of humour. She's a real Jill of all trades !!! She was helping in the kitchen, on reception, upstairs with housekeeping...where does she get the energy?? She was also very helpful and informative. The guesthouse was lovely and clean. Had a garden and patio area. About a 15 min walk to the city centre...downhill !!! So a bit slower journey on the way back!!! Food was delicious, and a good selection to be had. I was glad to see non dairy milks. On the downside, it's stairs up to the rooms, no lift, that was ok for us but may be a problem for people of lesser mobility. The driveway down to the carpark, quite steep even for a car, it might frighten some drivers. Overall a lovely stay, and would stay again.

Really nicely appointed rooms, and great food and service at the breakfast. The breakfast really is great. A bit noisy outside but shutting the window keeps all the sound out. Far enough from the centre to avoid noisy people but not too far, and very close to the train station.

Everything about Gabriel House was good. Great location, parking, friendly helpful staff. And the room requested on the ground floor was great. Thanks for that. The one issue we had was that while we were having a lie in and thinking about going for breakfast (delicious by the way), at about 8am, a member of housekeeping staff used their passcard and entered our room without knocking. Possibly better records of room occupancy should be with that department. On the whole, aside from a pretty hefty price, great place.

Didn’t stay here, just came for brunch and it was absolutely delicious - could also have yogurt, fruit, pastries, cereal from the buffet if you wanted. The views are amazing, made even better by the glorious weather! We were also joined by the house dog, Zita ( I think that’s her name!). They have their own hens and ducks at the back and also have a greenhouse. It was only 12.50 per person which I thought was great value.

We had a lovely stay at Gabriel's house and everything was perfect. All the staff are friendly and helpful down to the smallest detail. The breakfast was out of this world. The room was very clean, comfortable and modern. We were a family travelling to Cork for the first time and couldn't be happier. Thank you to all the staff.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Just a walk from city centre. They 27 rooms. Our Room was decent and well cleaned. Nice bathroom. But the building is from an other era. This place is old. However there no rest room/sitting room & reception is tiny. Staff 100% Food & selection for breakfast was 100% Plenty of carpark spaces. Mind the slope though it is severe (my friend fell). I really liked this place and will definitely go back.

Beautiful antique hotel, super clean , rooms big and cozy. Quite at night but centrally located to restaurants, pubs and train stations. Breakfast was delicious the two days we stayed there. Definitely a good find in cork. No elevator!

A lovely guesthouse / hotel. Super comfy rooms, nice bathrooms and warm. The breakfast menu was great, and all choices freshly made. Great views of the river below.

This is not a 4 star hotel. This is the house of slamming doors. Every other guest coming and going the doors slam so hard your room will shake and certainly wake you if your trying to sleep. There are so many stairs in this place along with a fairly steep road if you want to walk down to town so mind that for mobility. Service was great. The concierge was very nice and the cook for breakfast was good. Parking is a gong show on this narrow road if the lot is full good luck. Oh and be aware the train station down the hill the trains honk and squeel brakes when entering the station.

I am badly impressed with the lack of good sense of the staff! I had a booking for this week, but needed to cancel my entire trip due to a severe flooding in the region. I could not reach Cork due to the flooding and need to spend one night in the house of strangers because I could not move my car over the water streams. I explained the situation, which was a kind of obvious in the head news, but the hotel staff was just giving me non concrete answers such “oh, but your reservation is non refundable”! Indeed, few days after checkin most of the reservations are non refundable anymore, but in this case the event was unexpected and the safest thing to do was avoid the region (as requested by the authorities). Again, in am impressed by the lack of reasonability in the conduct of the staff!!! They are really just worried about money and not at all about safety! Do not recommend at any circumstance. Avoid this hotel!

I stayed a night here and it was excellent. The place is stunning, spotless throughout and the staff were amazing. I checked out in the morning but had an evening flight and they kept my bags safe for me during the day. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Good location, friendly staff that will go out of their way to help you. Rooms were well cleaned and comfortable beds. Breakfast, cooked to order with plenty to choose from. Only downside is the car park, extremely steep so needs a good driver and late arrivals may struggle for a space. We missed out and it was the only time staff weren't interested, had to park on the road but this is only free until 830am and we booked the hotel as it advertised parking.

We stayed the night while visiting family. Great distance to town and amazing views of Cork. The room was lovely and very comfortable. Great shower. Breakfast was amazing and defiantly worth the money. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. The dog was very welcome and loved the garden. We will always stay when in Cork!

I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed my stay at the Gabriel House! Kathleen and Carrie went above and beyond with wonderfully suited recommends for my needs. Because of the staff and their recommendations my time in Cork was perfection and I fell in love with this city and it’s people! I will be back soon and when I do, I will be staying here!❤️🇮🇪 Clean, beautiful garden, wonderful breakfast and as understated above, wonderful service!

This is a lovely guest house the room was very clean and comfy beds. Kathleen and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it in fact the best breakfast I have ever had ! If you are not very mobile this is not the place for you, there are a lot of stairs to the rooms and no lift. Also the guest house is on a fairly steep hill and the ramp down into the car park is very steep! There is a good bus service 5 minutes walk from the guest house, which will take you into town. All in all a very good couple of nights stay.

Historic townhouse, right in heart of the city. This establishment is reminiscent of a bygone era of good old-fashioned hospitality. The manager, Kathleen is a gracious host. We received a warm welcome on arrival. Our room, on the lower floor, was immaculately clean and comfortable with a beautiful new bathroom. We were able to order aperitif drinks in the evening to have in the magnificent garden, overlooking the lights of the city. We enjoyed the local restaurants /quaint pubs around, and touring the city on foot - we loved the Victorian quarter and the English market. The breakfast was superb - top quality. The staff took a genuine interest in their guests, which made it a memorable stay for us. We had some great chats with staff and guests alike. We met a family who had travelled from France to see where the legend guitarist, Rory Gallagher grew up - just around corner in McCurtain Street ! The gardener even gave us a tour of the garden - very unique in the city. Thank you to all the management & staff for making Cork the highlight of our trip around Ireland. We hope to be back soon.

Very Lovely Place To Stay! Great location. Has a nice personal style with class. Excellent check in service from Valerie, bed was very nice and super comfortable. Room was perfectly clean upon arrival. This guesthouse ended up being our favorite lodging of our visit to London and Ireland.

An absolute little gem. Lovely staff - Kathleen and the chef! - comfy beds with proper pillows, not soft soggy ones. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful garden which gets all the afternoon sun. One of the nicest small (bijou) hotel / guest houses I've ever stayed in.

  • 5/5 Heather G. 1 year ago on Google
By far the best hotel that I've stayed in. Cathleen and team were absolutely amazing. They were so hospitable and friendly. Asking what are plans were for the day and providing tips on getting around, places to eat and visit. The hotel is beautiful, it has such charm and is very comfortable. The breakfast at the hotel was amazing and well worth the $10. I can't say enough about the Gabriel House. If you're ever in Cork, Ireland please stay there.

From the first day to the last we felt like family! We enjoyed 4 nights in this lovely B&B/hotel. Our family room for 4 was perfect for us (4 little twins) Valerie, Kathleen, and many others on the staff made us feel so welcome. The breakfast was amazing every day. Definitely go for the breakfast! Whenever we needed something, they had it or suggested where to go. They even took care of the laundry. (€) Cork is lovely downtown and just a few minutes walk.from the hotel. There are plenty of options of restaurants nearby or stores to walk to. Stay here, no question. Best part of our trip to Ireland! 💕

As a business traveller I stay in many places throughout the country. This is definitely one of the really good ones. Valerie was so welcoming and friendly. Room was really nice, comfortable and warm. The breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of breads, cakes, yogurts, fruit etc. and the cooked breakfast was delicious and importantly 'Hot'. I will not only be returning but I will also be recommending to my colleagues snd family. Well done Gabriel House, keep up the good work.
