Brought my son here for his birthday lunch. He had chicken fried steak and I had chicken fried veal cutlet. We even got dessert - cheesecake and coconut pie. Food and service were great!

This was the best food I have had at Corpus Christi over my 5 days stay there. I ordered the baked flounder with couple sides. It tasted really good. Their bun with cinnamon butter was good too. I would definitely recommend!

It's an older place but don't let that fool you. My mom used to bring us here when we were young. The food is excellent and the portions are a lot. Home made and the service is pretty fast. The owners are usually there and they are hospitable. overall experience was outstanding and my wife said that I better give it 5 stars. lol

Maybe it was just a bad night in the kitchen. Service was okay. Food tasted good. BUT… A fire on the grill made them have to redo a steak plate we ordered. And we weren’t told about it until we got our food. The chicken for a plate we ordered was very underdone in the middle. The butter for the baked potatoes tastes like it had gone bad. A neighboring table had to have a mushroom appetizer go back. Not sure why, they offered to redo it but the customers said no.

This was definitely not the place to me ! Me and my boyfriend wanted to try to something new. We heard the place was good but maybe we arrived on a bad day. I got the chicken fried stake it was very thin, tasted sour and tasted as it was just sitting there the bake potato that came with it was very oily and not so good. I would not recommend this place if you’re trying something new.

Looking for a nice dinner place while in town. This was not it, for me anyway. My husband got a great steak dinner. I was not impressed with the menu-too many varieties of food. Since I wanted .Mexican food I got the Mexican plate A big mistake. Firstly, the machine/blender wasn't working for the margaritas (sounds like McDonalds and their ice cream machine, never working when you want one) so I got a Margarita on the rocks. Right? How can you screw that up? Well they did by not adding any liquor to it. As for dinner I ordered the Mexican plate. 2 enchiladas, a tamale and a taco. I received something covered in bad chili, almost an overcooked meat sauce. And the taco? An Ortega hard shell with unseasoned beef and a bit of cheese. Not my idea of a good time. And yes I paid for the whole thing. Was not offered to take it off the bill after hearing about the food. So never going back.

I loved the enchiladas and tamales here! Really good. Ill mark this as s favorite. Kinda different, they don't serve Chips and salsa when you sit diwn, they serve a complimentary soup of the day!! Really good soup too!

I've been here on numerous occasions and more so for special occasions but today's visit was a disappointment. The complimentary soup was the best part of our entire meal because it was hot. I come for the legendary steaks but today it was overly seasoned. I actually needed A1 to tame it. I was looking forward to a steak all week and for what... I am not one to complain for no reason. Anyone who really knows me knows i love steak, great amazing steak but this place has lost it's touch, sad to say...

We just moved to the area and wanted to try a steak place, being that we are in Texas and all. By far the worst place I've ever been. Service was so slow, and there were only a couple other tables. The food was awful. My husband said it was the worst steak he's ever had. I ordered medium rare, half of my steak was almost blue. The salad was wilted, nothing seemed fresh, and the place was gross. Super disappointed. And they over charged us. Worst place ever.

Looks can be deceiving..This place was awesome. Lots of food and was delicious. My Sister took us there and forgot about all the extras they start you off with..needless to say, we were beyond stuffed when we left. Steaks very made to order and very good.

Was going to leave a 2 star but after talking to the owner, it is a 1 star. They purposely cut their sirloin steaks with multiple layers of fat you have you have to cut off to account for weight. I got the 16 oz and half the steak was fat. I understand maybe a little bit of fat to cut off but you had to trim the whole dang thing. It only left you with a few bites of steak. After talking to the owner about it she claimed how that is how it should be cut (which it's not, i've had hundreds of steak) she never came over and we had to come to her. She tried defending that garbage and does not give a hoot about fixing the wrong. It is clear that they are trying to serve cuts with a lot of fat to give you less meat. A good owner would be reasonable and would try to fix wrong, however the owner does not care and just wants to be right. Would not kill you to have some morals and good service.

Excellent. My husband had the rib eye and said it was one of the best he's ever had. I had the fisherman's platter. The trout and shrimp were superb. Their green goddess salad dressing, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce are all homemade and OH so good! Service was personable and recommendations were on point! We will be back!

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. This visit we were very disappointed. We had family visiting from out of state, so we suggested the Astor for good steak. The table we were seated at was very dirty. Almost every seat had food and the floor under and around crumbs. It appeared that the area was not cleaned from the previous party. The soup was watered down and had no flavor. The yogurt dip that compliments the croutons was very watery and had some chunks of something?? I do feel we could have had a more attentive waitress. We were were seated at our table for a while before we even were given our drink order. So basically we were eating our dry croutons and soup with no beverage. Although the steak seemed to be a bit lower quality than previous visits, it still had a great flavor. That was the one highlight of our last visit. I am not sure if there has been a change in ownership or staffing but definitely needs to be corrected. We usually enjoy our visits to the Astor. 😞

This place is usually pretty great but they serve me over cooked corn on the cob. Greasey fried fish. Normally I give servers the best mark since they don't do the cooking however our wouldn't write anything down. Nothing wrong with that except she wouldn't remember things! Next time I rather go to king seafood for the better food and prices.

My husband has taken me out to lunch twice at the Astor, and both times did not disappoint. They serve soup and salad with most meals, and the rolls are so soft and good. So far, I've tried the French Dip sandwich and the chicken fried chicken. Both were delicious. They just get to be really busy during lunch, and it's mostly working men from the area. There is nothing wrong with that, but it does change the atmosphere.

We went in a little after 9pm on a Friday. We were seated immediately, our waitress was friendly and very helpful with the menu options. We ordered seafood platter for 4 and it did not disappoint. Tons of food, homemade croutons with green godess dressing, fresh baked rolls with honey butter. Great sweet tea....iykyk.. and to top it off I left with homemade baklava... I could die happy for that alone.."chefs kiss" We will definitely be back on our next trip to town. Thank you for treating my family like yours.

Great service, very friendly! Food was also very good! We ordered shrimp, scallops, crab, fish, baked potato, and the beef enchiladas. Wanted to try a little of everything. The service was great from start to finish. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated, no wait time. Waiter was friendly and patient. This place was great, kid friendly and would definitely visit again.

This has to be one of Corpus' best kept secrets, so I'm going to spill. Food is very good & service was friendly & phenomenal. Gloria was our server & took excellent care of us, so make sure & ask for her. We were greeted by several staff members as if we were family & not just customers. We were seated promptly & entrusted to the fabulously entertaining Gloria. We were amazed at how quiet the restaurant was even with several parties dining. Once we ordered we received a tasty bowl of gumbo along with a side of crispy, buttery croutons & a bowl of their special sour cream. We ordered one of the specials which happened to be a flounder filet stuffed with crabmeat & your choice of sides. The flounder was cooked to a buttery perfection & simply melted in your mouth. Teen in our party who's not a fan of seafood had a bite & didn't realize they were eating fish. That's how good this dish was y'all. Gloria recommended we return on Sunday for the home-cooked turkey & dressing Sunday special & I think we'll take her up on her offer.

Very disappointed. First thing is they decided to change my order without confirming with me. So I was up-charged for a bigger steak and not even the cut I ordered. It was not cooked as ordered and very tuff. The waiter was awesome. Very nice young fellow. The manager was rude and and not helpful at all. I will not go back. And would recommend another steak house.
