They have a $1 matches for Happy Hour on Thursday, so certain drinks/shots are buy one, get one for $1. The food and drinks are great and the service was awesome! It wasn’t super busy and it was a nice, relaxed environment. They also have a system where you can pay online through an app, so you don’t have to wait to get your card back!

We haven’t been to Council Bluffs much so I jumped on the idea to try somewhere new. We chose to sit outside and view the area. Our server was friendly and thorough with us. My husband chose fried gizzards as our appetizer which I’m not a huge fan of honestly. They were good but somewhat chewy in my opinion. He was pleased with them and with his Shrimp po boy. I thought my chicken quesadilla was very good (nice portion size) but a had a little too much chili powder in the seasoning. I think next time I’ll try a sandwich to see how they are. I definitely want to come back and relax outside again.

Had a rubin tough as rubber couldnt chew it told waitress I didnt want it she said she would give me another I said no so she took off 25% i ate the fries and soda cost me 9 dollars 10 cents plus 2 dollar tip we wont be back

Very cool restaurant! Super awesome architecture and design. Very nice selection on tap. Cocktails are very heavy. We had steak bites for our appetizer, which were good but missing the horseradish sauce which I imagine would be a complete game changer. I ordered the Barley Burger, which tasted amazing. The red onion marmalade worked perfectly with the rest of the burger. The crinkle cut fries were great. Wait staff was friendly and made sure we were being helped frequently. Overall good food, atmosphere, and time.

Seat yourself style pub.. I like the atmosphere. Waitress was quick to see us.. Large selection of burgers.. Order...... Chicken nachos, house made fried flour chips,.. generous portion of chips and toppings. I am a fan of this type of chip, good flavor.. My wife however said she would prefer shredded vs cubed chicken That aside, pretty sure these were heated in a microwave and the cubed chicken may be packaged.. I walked down to where you can look into the kitchen and sure enough, there was chef Microwave. Not a big deal, and they do taste good. 3.5/5 Chicken fried steak New Yorker burger. Normally I go into more detail about texture, flavor, etc. But Something quickly occurs to us... And we've been doing this many years, I'm fairly certain, everything is pre-made. The Patty screams Sam's club. Even the CFS appears pre-made.. For a quick meal, this place isn't terrible, but it's a one and done for us.. With that said, the wait staff is amazing, on par with upscale dinning...

Came in because we hadn't been here in a while since my wife no longer works in CB and no one even bothered to greet us. We sat for 10 minutes and a table sat after us got served and the bartender and serves saw us and ignored us.

Barley's is pretty good. Their food is excellent and so are their drinks. Barley's is more of a 'special occasion' place than a local corner bar hangout. Service can be slow due to a high volume of customers. But that same high volume is good advertising.

Dog friendly on the outdoor patio. I love how the patio is built all iron and yet cozy. Could use some umbrellas. Beer. Pretty good combo. Nice service. Testing out the burgers and steak tips. The fried pickles are a reason to visit alone. Beer selection on tap is fairly extensive and nice variety of styles.

The staff was beyond fantastic. They worked as a team and we could tell. Food ordered was: Stuffed Mushroom appetizer, Fish/Chips and The Berkshire. The mushrooms were HOT on the top but cool on the bottom. The fish and chips were good, nice portion size too! The Berkshire was hearty and good. The patty size was thick and bigger than the bun. Food quality 'checked the box' but was not anything I would call 'cuisine'. It is good 'bar food'. No complaints but didn't exceed expectations. I think the pizza is the draw here. We saw the table next to us eating a Good-Looking pizza. We'll have to go back and try it. Overall: I would recommend.

It was wonderful! I loved the food the service. Everything was great. We had a dog so we sat outside and they waited on us. And food was hot and pretty fast to. They even brought a bowl of water out for the dog!!

This is my go-to place when we have people in from out of town. Lots of choices, great burgers (I’m a huge fan of the Diablo) and their monthly specials are always great. Sometimes the wait staff is a little discombobulated, but it’s never too bad.

This place had great food, great service, and a great happy hour. The building itself inside is really cool. A great place to come with friends or on a date for dinner and drinks.

Every single meal I've eaten here (6 or 7 times) has been a pleasant surprise. Never had such good food at a sports bar. Not exaggerating. Thus is a fantastic lunch spot.

Just left Barleys and had to post a review. We had the Barley burger and Buffalo chicken sandwich, both were excellent! Tender juicy chicken and perfectly cooked juicy burger. The drink specials looked amazing but didn’t get to try them. We’ll be back next time in town.

In town on a Wednesday for business and I stopped here from the positive reviews it had online. Decent crowd that was participating in trivia. I sat at the bar and was waited on after about 5 minutes. I ordered a beer on tap, which I was told they ran out of (Miller Lite). I proceeded to get a bottle and then ordered food. My food came out extremely fast which was the only thing fast about this place. I had to ask for napkins and then asked the server who brought my food out to me for ketchup. She brought me a bottle and said to me “it is low”, meaning there isn’t much left. I handed it back and said “there is nothing in here”, which there wasn’t. It shouldn’t have been brought to me in the first place. She then came back with a full bottle and slammed it down on the bar at the seat next to me on top of a stack of menus. Later, the bartender asked if I was doing ok and I asked for another beer. It was close to 10 minutes later that I received that beer. In fact at that point I was already done with my meal and actually didn’t want it anymore. Food was decent. Service was terrible. Maybe they specialize in trivia and nothing else. One star for atmosphere.

The food was awesome. The only downside was that no one greeted and welcomed us when we walked into the restaurant while the servers just stared at us. We looked like idiots, standing at the entrance for couple minutes. Except that it's all good.

Had Wisconsin cheese soup and a trip to the salad bar which hadn't been refilled. It was okay but not special. I wouldn't order the soup again. Service was good and fast. Nice interior.

Been here several times. They always accommodate a large group and we've gotten excellent service. The food is just average bar food but we don't really go for a great meal, more of a great place to hangout.

Cheese and more cheese! Delicious unless you can't have cheese, then I'm sure you should be able to find something else. Me however I'll take the cheese!

Normally we really enjoy the food but our last visit over the weekend was disappointing. Took forever to get our food and they weren’t busy, my fries were cold, my Triple Club had no mayo on it and the wait staff never came back to the table after they dropped our food off other than when it was time for them to drop off the check. It’s not a usual experience but still-you choose to support the local business and it’s not cheap to eat out so you expect your food to be hot and for people to at least check on you.

Servers seemed a bit new, and spoke very quietly. It was very hard to hear them when they were trying to pass pit orders. We had a table of 9, and all of the food was delicious! Great atmosphere, never been to Council Bluffs but this food will have me back the next time I am in the area!!

Such a great, local gem. The management makes all the difference. They have solid leadership and everything flows down from there, including great tap beers from local breweries. Excellent food, and a historical building- all around Council Bluffs fun. Love this place ??

Thanks to COVID, we are ordering to go. I used to love the food here, really disappointed tonight. Fresh patty? No you can tell it wasn’t. Perfectly round, perfect thickness and overcooked in the middle and burnt on the outside. Fresh patties swell and misshape. Now onto the onion strings. More like soggy undercooked onion rings with a buffalo season. Used to be thinner and crisper. Now she got the taco salad, 6 tortilla chips for a whole container... meh. In their defense, maybe it’s just a bad night, maybe new people, I dunno. My memories of the food in the past will probably allow for a second chance.

Amazing food! Pretzels and cheese are so yummy, chicken Popeye salad is my favorite! A bunch of tap beers which is a huge plus! My favorite place in Council bluffs by far!

1st time visiting this place, and was so impressed by the variety in menu items. Ordered veggie quesadillas that were delicious, and so was my Arnold sandwich. Both items had plenty of deliciously fresh ingredients. Can't wait to try more menu selections.
