I hemmed and hawed whether to reserve after reading a few of the recent reviews condemning the decor etc, but those people should get over themselves! This hotel is exactly what I wanted- unique, cute, cozy, romantic, old-timey, full of character. I love the attached pub in the conservatory/greenhouse, and little guest library upstairs. Unique quirky layout and GORGEOUS back garden. Rooms nice and warm but not too hot in mid Sep. Not too crowded. Perfect for a memorable getaway. If you want to stay in a cookie cutter Marriott that looks like every other hotel in the world, go do that. This hotel is every bit as clean and nice as you would expect someone's (or your own) spare guest room to be.

Went out with family and friends for a meal. The service was good but the food was extremely disappointing and expensive. The portions were small, the chicken schnitzel was a slice of chicken breast covered in soggy breadcrumbs, there was no parmesan with the parmesan and rocket salad, so it was just ticket leaves (look at the photo to see) and the chips were cold. We were a group of 10 including 2 children, the 3 Chicken schnitzels came out first, then several minutes later the 2 children's meals were served and several after that the remainder of the meals were served. The fish was overcooked, the batter was almost dark, dark brown almost black. They blamed it on an agency chef, but I definitely won't be returning.

Sunday Lunch Only - Portion sizes generous. Menu needs to be a bit more specific, with what you are actually getting. The service was good, cannot fault most of the staff. Need to vastly improve vegetarian options! Diced lentils and carrots, served in a deep fill dish with a layer of mash potato on top, was not our image of a pie! What oils are the roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings cooked in? The lady who took payment did not want to hear any critism. We only wanted to add feedback which could help in the future. Sadly the attitude led to our rating. Will not be returning.

We just had takeaway delivered from here and it was outstanding. It arrived promptly, was hot and delicious! We had the Philly Cheese Steak and French Dip subs and they were fantastic in quality and taste. The French Dip gravy was very rich and the chips were chunky cut, fresh and plenty of them... would highly recommend the Jacobean Hotel's restaurant. Thanks.

Came for a meal with my partner last night. This place used to be excellent, it's still not bad, but the house keeping needs attention. Cigarette butt's all over the front and patio had not been swept for quite a while. Seating in the patio area was not particularly clean. Service was good however I seem to remember staff wearing black and whites not jeans and t-shirts. Food was nice but not as good as it was on my previous visit. Used to be my favourite place but house keeping needs to improve again. Prices were good infact they had dropped from my last visit, which may have something to do with the slight and I do mean slight drop in quality. Hopefully this gs will improve on my next visit.

Lovely location with good parking. 24hr reception means you don't need to carry your room key around. Late bar for that nightcap. Lovely clean modern rooms and bathroom. Taxis were around £8 each way into the centre. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is wonderful! When we arrived we were greeted by a lady at the desk who I struggled to get a conversation out of, I tried not to take this to heart as I have anxiety and know how hard conversation can be sometimes but it would have been nicer if we had had a warmer welcome, our room was towards the back of the building beautifully laid out and clean with coffee biscuits and towels plenty of shampoo shower gel and toilet roll for our stay, the best part was we paid for breakfast and it was beautiful! I have never tasted a fried breakfast outside of my own home as beautiful as theirs is, it's freshly cooked to order and the quality is top notch, the bacon, sausages and everything you can tell was expensive decent food and the spread was really good with fresh hovis soft bread, jams, Nutella, butter, fruit, croissants, pastries, yoghurts and cereals and the coffee was freshly ground 🖤 Waiting staff were wonderful trying to do their best to help me find something my autistic son would eat he loved the bread toasted with honey from the small jars provided. We will be visiting again next year cleaning staff were kind and topped up the room daily was extremely happy with our stay thank you 🌹

Really hit and miss. Sometimes great sometimes they claim cooking chips is too much like hard work. Advertise serving in the bar and restaurant but if 2 tables are full in restaurant they stop service in the bar. Tonight we were handed a menu and then refused an order because it was too much for the kitchen. It was 7.30pm. They're not even busy, it's weird and lazy.

Thank you to all the staff for not only looking after relatives visiting from Ireland for a funeral but also for providing a lovely roast dinner for us all at the wake. Food was hot, tasty and cooked to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated the service and professionalism shown to us all. I can’t comment on the rooms - relatives who stayed over said they were clean and staff were friendly and accommodating. This place is ideally situated for travel to/from Birmingham airport due to its location in Coventry.

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are more than adequate. The food in the restaurant was really good and different. The service we received was fabulous. 1* less because decor is getting a bit tired.

Small quiet place off the main road. Quick ride into the city center but far enough away in a neighborhood area. Bed and room was clean and smelled great, looked like some new additions had been made mainly to the bathroom. The layout of the bathroom was a bit odd, no enclosing of shower area so the room and toilet got wet pretty quick with one rinse. Other than that lovely big bed and nice front staff. Restaurant serves till 9 and bar closes at 11. 5/5, wonderful stay.

We stayed a couple of nights for a family event in Coventry. Our room, 40, was comfy but not overly large. Down stairs is a large bar/restaurant area and upstairs is a sitting area with a small library. The resturant has a nice menu, and everything we ordered was enjoyable, with the exception of the triple cooked chips. However the manager offered to change them without a hesitation. So the Jacobean is fine for short stays. What actually made our stay was the service from the staff, always helpful and welcoming.

My friend and I had lunch today… Sam was a wonderful host. The food and service was excellent. We both had the steak sandwich and chips and it was superb! I dined out yesterday at a well known restaurant in Kenilworth and have to say the taste and price of food there made me compelled to write this review. You will not regret dining at the Jacobean. I also had a Sunday Roast here on Mother's Day and again was very satisfied with the food and service.

My friend booked to dine at Jacobean a few weeks, ago. Booking was evening dining for 8/9 people to celebrate 2 birthdays amongst group. One of group flying in from Ireland especially for the occasion, another travelling from Peak District. Informed today ( eve of dinner) that a mistake had been made and could no longer accommodate! Shocking!

It’s a lovely little hotel not far from the Coventry arena. Rooms are absolutely lovely and quite quirky. The breakfast was lovely too and the staff were very lovely and welcoming! 😊

Beautiful location And the hotel looks lovely But the staff are rude and no good at customer service .. Plus outdoor garden furniture could do with up dating! Senior staff are very unprofessional Ie; Customer is never right in the "manager" attitude and will argue to prove the fact . In all Beautiful location and reasonable prices Just 1 out of 10 for Customer service and manners .

Where to start…the WiFi is excellent, the service in the bar and restaurant is great and the food was excellent! The overall appearance of the hotel is very tired and my room was the same, definitely last decorated in the Jacobean era. One colleague had a fabulous room so maybe they are refurbishing but 6 other colleagues reported the same as me. The sheets and bathroom were clean but the bed was saggy. I’d recommend for a bite to eat but definitely not to stay at £90 a night.

Booked a table for 14 people. We were told we would have to order our food in advance which wasn't an issue but when our food came items had been swapped without telling us, lamb was just a lump of undercooked fat and the rest of the food in general wasn't that good. I can appreciate they may have run out of some ingredients and were busy but if someone on our table had food allergies we should have been told in advance and given some alternative options especially when we were asked 2 pre ordered days in advance.

Went for something to eat but did not book a table. The older Male server seemed to try and put us off having food by saying oh we are busy you'll have to sit in the bar...which wasnt a problem to us but we felt as if we were a problem. I went to the bar and ordered drinks which the same man served me and then after a while waiting I then asked the same man at the bar...who was the table server... shall I order food at the bar to save us waiting he said yes and proceeded to serve other people one of which came after me. It's a shame really because the food was really nice. We had the hunters chicken and the burger which both were delicious. Whilst there I noticed a party of approximately 10 came in when we had nearly finished our meals, but except for about 3 tables having couples on already I couldnt see that they were really that busy food wise. There were a few people in the bar area drinking. Maybe better training in time management for the said server is needed.

Me and my husband popped in for lunch - which was great! Special thank you to a lovely lady called Abbie who welcomed us so warmly and gave us loads of information on the hotel as we inquired about staying in the nearby future. We will be back :) :)

Quite a basic 3 star hotel. Some of the rooms decor is very dated and I've never seen flat screen TV's that small!

The staff were lovely and friendly. The rooms were clean and tidy and on first glance really beautiful, however there are some areas that could do with some TLC. The restaurant food is great value for money and absolutely beautifully cooked and presented.

Went to friends beautiful wedding here and stayed over. Food was gorgeous, tastiest food for long time. Everything was cooked perfect. Ideal as we stayed overnight, rooms cosy and comfy. Breakfast lovely too. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend to others planning a wedding.

My partner and I came for lunch with our extended family. As we both have particularly awkward allergies we were unsure what to expect and came prepared. What a wonderful surprise it was to be presented with two specially made dishes that perfectly suited our requirements and were absolutely delicious. Fabulous compliments to the chef. Secondly, our two year old daughter felt welcome to roam around and when a glass was inevitably broken the rest of the staff were so kind and patient clearing up after us with a big smile. Thank you so much

Our room was nice and modern. Check in was very quick and easy. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was very good value for money compared to other hotels in the area especially as a last minute booking. Breakfast isn't currently being served.

Dated dive. Can get far better in the area for the same amount of money. Plus was that the bed was clean that's about it. Not sure where the other review pics were taken as my room was definitely not like them. Grim.

Clean and had a nice lobby area with a bookshelf right outside my room. However the toilet had no lock, and there was only one plug socket that seemed to have a low output. And no wifi password was given and when we went to ask, nobody was at reception

Having been to the Jacobean a number of times recently, the service has always been good. However my experience tonight was really poor. Took ages at the bar to get a drink, despite the queue only being small. Having ordered food, it hadn’t arrived after an hour. We had to chase it up twice for it to arrive. The barman was abrupt and flippant. Bring back table service!! I am hoping this is just a ‘one off’ bad night.

A lovely clean establishment that has undergone a massive refit over the years. My room was quirky as described by the receptionist on arrival, very comfortable room but the bed mattress was to soft for my back which left me with mild back pain. Didn't sample the food sadly but the bar is well acquit. Staff are friendly and very approachable if any issues. Highly recommend...

If I could put zero stars I would, having booked a table for Saturday 5 March, we arrived & waited 15 minutes to be told there wasn’t a table as they were busy, but they’d find us somewhere. This was in a very cold conservatory & shown to a table that was in such disrepair a rugby club would bin it. My wife went to find the waitress to say we’re not happy with the table only to be told, we are busy & you have a table fantastic customer service with attitude & an intimidating twist. After this we left without dinner. The moral being if you fancy being let down for dinner & awful manners, feel free to visit The Jacobean Hotel.

Good value, honest hotel. Incredibly helpful staff and good value food. Will stay again next time in Coventry and prefer over the soulless Premier Inns

Couldn't fault the menu, the food or the staff. We were a party of 20 people for a 70th birthday party and the food came out all at the same time, and the food was superb. The staff couldn't be more helpful . Will be visiting again very soon , might even book a room for the night.

We came just for the lunch and didn't stay at hotel. It's nice place next to the busy road. The food was good and staff were friendly.

Booked two rooms for a family trip. Rooms were strangely inconsistent. One room had a modern bathroom, and the other had old fittings and was dirty, with hairs left around the sink and mysterious residue on the toilet. Decor in both rooms was very outdated. Breakfast dining area was bright and open, and food was nice. Some cold offerings were available as a buffet, while hot food was cooked to order.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was very clean, all electrical items were safe (something you don't get at Holiday Inn) Front of House young lady was lovely, she also served breakfast the two days we stayed. My only suggestion would be to light the car park and entrance gates better (no lighting at all on the gate), this would make it both safer and easier to find on the coming darker nights.

Me and my husband stayed here for our 3 year wedding anniversary. We’ve actually stayed here on our wedding night and the room was beautiful couldn’t ask for better. So I thought it would be perfect to book again. Unfortunately I was wrong. If you have the pleasure of staying in room 29 I feel for you. When we arrived to our room we was meant with a damp/ mouldy smell. That instantly put myself in a foul mood. As I’d paid £100 for this room. Skipping to the morning after trying to be helpful I stripped the whole bed to find it all completed stained including the pillows. The curtains had mould all over them. We wasn’t meant to check out till 11am we didn’t even stay for the breakfast that we’d paid for. But I felt that sick and disgusted after sleeping in we left at 8:50am. When arrived home we tried to call to complain… which took 3 days for them to actually get back to me and tell me they’ve binned all the bedding. But didn’t offer any refund. If you’ve going to be staying here I’d advise you to check the whole room before you step foot in the bed.

When myself, husband and dog arrived we were met by Claire, very friendly and professional. The room that we were given wasn't suitable for our individual needs. I spoke to Claire and she changed our room with 2 options. All I can say is I hasleep a d the best nights sleep and the room was clean with all that we beeded Thank you Claire we will definitely return.

Welcoming owner who served us breakfast 👍 Nice pleasant reception staff Room 14 standard double new walk in shower room ideal for those with any mobility issues. Room space plenty Bus outside hotel enabled us to access Coventry city centre and the shops, bars, and eateries😀🍻

Staff were very friendly and helpful and the bed comfortable but the room was very tired and dated. The shower curtain was stained yellow at the bottom. The radiator in the bathroom was rusty. Marks on the walls, mould round the window frame and weirdly only one bedside table, round the double bed. The toiletries was a large bottle of hand wash and shower gel. Would have preferred individual soap and showergel as I kept wondering who had used it before me. As I said staff were super helpful and accommodating, but the place was not worth £70 a night.
