Cozy place and in a very nice setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. I had the Chickenwich and it was fantastic.

The Playwrights is a lovely little cafe with brilliant views and plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the Coventry Canal Basin. It has great coffee, well cooked food, and excellent service from experienced waiting staff, who really seem to care. We were especially impressed by the vegan selection on the menu, and some of the little touches of detail, such as home made coleslaw, and a choice of tomatoes (roast or plumb). Our only suggestion would be to upgrade the bread used for toast.

Sat outside in the sunshine. Table service apart from when paying I went to the till. We ordered 3 different flavoured milkshakes and I thought the vanilla was not tasty at all so was able to swap mine for my husband's. The staff were all friendly and the menu had many choices.

Very nice , reasonably priced breakfast. Shame it isn't bigger as I have had to sit outside for both visits. Last weekend was cold. Thank you

Amazing place! Food is always so good and it’s in a lovely part of the city right by the canal side. I have eaten here many times, both my boyfriend and myself have intolerances and we’ve never had any issues, the staff are very knowledgeable and really friendly and the menu is clearly marked. They even update their menu to swap to items with less allergens in them if they can. For example we never used to be able to have the black pudding but they’ve since found a new supplier and it’s gluten free. I have recently attended a vegan evening (food in the photos) and it did not disappoint!!!!!! I can’t recommend this cafe enough and I always look forward to my visits here. Thank you!!!

1st visit after lot's of deliveries over lock down lovely sunday dinner and no washing up. Staff as friendly as always. New venue since moving from Town centre but food still good and plenty choice on menu and can take a nice walk a long the canal after wards.

We recently had our works Christmas meal here and everyone was really happy with the food and service! The staff were so accommodating and all the food for our large group was all correct, which many other places haven’t been able to achieve on previous Christmas meals elsewhere (even with preorder!) Well done Playwrights, we’ll definitely be back!

Great Cafe! I have ordered take away in the last week and decided to go in person. The staff are extremely friendly. I would highly recommend them. The food is well cooked and presented. Chilled atmosphere and nice music choices.

Excellent food, service and location! The staff made us very welcome and the range of Gluten free on offer was amazing! Sadly was only visiting Coventry for a concert, but this place is certainly a reason to go back!

We sat outside by the canal and it was lovely. Food was great and staff really helpful and attentive. Excellent menu with lots of choice for all dietary requirements. No idea what we spent as we were treated. It was a great morning and we will definitely return.

Nice place to visit, staff were really friendly and helpful. I would say overall the food was nice and our group enjoyed the meals. However, I would say the delay in food coming out was noticeable, some food came out separately and my meal specifically was of lower quality and a little cold. However, their extensive menu and good food coming out to other diners makes you want to return.

Went over the weekend after a bike ride up the canal. Great spot, and able to sit outside next to the canal (good weather helped) and lock bikes up safely on bike racks. Had a pot of tea and sausage sandwich, others had wraps and eggs benedict which looked really nice. Milkshakes look nice too but not tried one myself. Next time maybe! Reasonably priced too.

Me and my girlfriend love breakfast from here. Consistently good and tasty every time. You can tell everything is freshly cooked. We will come over for a dine in once it’s warmer outside. Definitely the best place in Coventry. Quality products. Sausages are wonderful quality for the price. Pouched eggs - cooked to perfection. Food is not greasy. Eggs Royal - amazing too. Compliments to chef - you are amazing.

Forgot to take photos of the food as it was too lovely and we wanted to get stuck in!! My friend needs gluten free and the menu is jam packed full of options for him!! (normally he can either have ham egg and chips or jacket potato) We both had cod and chips ( absolutely amazing!!) My fella had the bacon and cheese burger which again looked amazing. The portion sizes were huge and everythinf was cooked amazingly!! Staff were friendly and helpful definitely planning on going back soon!!

Very good ambience. We ordered chocolate milk shake and chocolate muffin ( was good). We did not like the milkshake, it was very bad. Thinking to try main course next time. Very clean place and customer service was also good.
