The hotel is old and overdue for renovation. The pool, part of which is advertised as outdoor, is actually covered by a blurry plastic hood. For all this I would have given it three stars, but the story I describe below completely disappointed me. I drive an electric car and before arriving I phoned the hotel and made sure that there was a charger. When I arrived and asked at reception to charge, I was told that there was no charger, or rather that there was, but it was for the hotel's internal use only. I pointed out that I had called and clarified in advance and that I was expecting charging at the hotel and I only had 10% left now. The lady went off to call the manager. I was refused to charge and the only option they offered me was to go to another hotel where they said there were public charging facilities. I went there, but they also refused to provide a charger, telling me that their charger was also for internal use only. I went back to the hotel, ending up wasting almost all my remaining charge. Informed the lady at reception that I had a fully discharged car and needed a charger urgently. I asked to speak to the manager directly but I was refused. She called the manager again and informed me that I was allowed to use the charger, but for no longer than one hour during dinner. That was enough to drive to Covilha, and fast charge there. I ended up spending the whole evening on this problem and came back late at night. I was completely disappointed with the totally awful attitude. Firstly it is impossible to imagine a large and expensive hotel that doesn't have a charger. Secondly I was given false information on the phone. But most importantly, the hotel staff, particularly the mysterious manager on the phone felt absolutely no guilt for the situation and was completely indifferent to the situation in which he put the guest. And stubbornly refused to simply allow his equipment to be used to save the situation. I would like to know the name of the manager who was so indifferent to guests, forcing them into a helpless situation and spending hours of their time to resolve it, but unfortunately he avoided direct contact and was hiding behind the receptionist. The situation took place on 27.12.2022.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. However, there were a few aspects of the hotel that could use improvement, and I found the characterization of the hotel's atmosphere somewhat confusing. Let's start with the positive aspects. The view from Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela is truly breathtaking. Surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Serra da Estrela region, guests can enjoy panoramic vistas that are truly awe-inspiring. The picturesque surroundings alone make this hotel worth considering. The breakfast was good, even though it wasn't the best I have tried. You have some local cheese and jam, and natural orange juice, for example. On the other hand, the hotel's atmosphere left me somewhat perplexed. It wasn't clear whether Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela aimed to provide a luxurious experience or embrace a rustic ambiance. The hotel seemed to fall somewhere in between, which created a sense of ambiguity. As a result, I didn't quite feel the "luxury of a rustic atmosphere" that the hotel claims to offer. Another aspect that disappointed me was the reputation of the nearby restaurants. After reading some concerning reviews, my companions and I were hesitant to try any of the restaurants in the vicinity, including the hotel's own restaurant. The fact that even the hotel's restaurant had a relatively low rating on Google (3 stars) didn't inspire confidence. Consequently, we decided to explore dining options elsewhere, which was a bit inconvenient. The swimming pool at Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela was nice, but it didn't exude a sense of luxury or grandeur. While it provided a pleasant place to relax and cool off, it lacked the opulence that one might expect from a higher-end establishment. It's worth noting, however, that considering the affordable prices per night, it's understandable that the hotel may not have the most extravagant amenities. Speaking of prices, Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela offers a very affordable accommodation option. While this is undoubtedly appealing, it's important to remember that you get what you pay for. Consequently, one should adjust their expectations accordingly and not expect an abundance of luxury features or top-notch service.

They charge 5€ each for a shower cap that is REQUIRED to enter their "heated pool" that isn't heated at all, rooms are old but manageable, food was ok except for a burger i ordered that looked and tasted misrable coming in at a whopping 10€. Overall 3 stars

Don’t be fooled by the 4 star rating. Old, needs updating and a lack of amenities makes me wonder where the 4 star comes from. It’s probably the worst 4 star hotel I’ve been. Be aware that fees apply in order to use the indoor pool since they charge for swimming caps that are required(TIP:bring your own), also a charge of 3 euros for each robe and extra towels apply. You will have to pay with cash including deposits.😱 Safe doesn’t have keys, didn’t ask but I’m pretty sure you need a trip to reception to get your lock(no big deal but not usual for a 4 star hotel). I would give a 4 star rating on google if this hotel was a 3 star and paid less for it, but unfortunately I’ve been deceived. No way this is a 4 star I do not recommend, there’s a lot better around the area for away better price. Disappointed!

Lovely views from nearly 2,000m up. A little dated and worn around the edges, but actually adds to the charm of the place. The staff were lovely and friendly. Our room had amazing views of not only the beautiful sunrise but also the flocks of crag martins that seem to nest nearby. Food was a bit hit and miss - we’d recommend the nearby Puro for a treat.

Good hotel only the rooms are a little bit outdated, small TV's on the room... no plugs available next to the bed to charge your phone or to have another sort of electronic device connected. Ofcourse it's in a premium location because it's close by the top of Serra da estrella. You can notice that it needs a big renovation, like paint touchups done but clearly visible done with a similar looking paint... but not the same... silicone is letting loose on some places and cracks in the walls ( corners). The hotel itself is nice and warm, all windows are double glazed with PVC frames. If you ask me the price is pushed to almost not being worth it.

The location of the hotel is amazing. The room was pretty nice, but there was a weird smell inside, we opened the window for the night and it made it so much nicer and more fresh. The breakfast was really good! Great selection of savoury and sweet options, coffe, tea, freshly squeezed orange juice and even sparkling wine. The pool could be a little bigger and you need a pool cap to go inside which was not ideal

Nice hotel, good place to start walks from. Warm swimming pool, not very big but big enough. I ate only in the hotel and was satisfied, large selection of small dishes and 3 main courses, multiple dessert options. They have oils, spices, salt, pepper, so you can add them accordingly. 25 euro for a all you can eat buffet is an OK price I think. I had a good experience for 3 nights. There is even a shuttle bus from the covilha bus station if your on a budget, this even goes to the mountain top while passing the hotel.

Beautiful view Even though the felicity is pretty aged, I found the room clean and spacious. We have a good time in the room with the great view.

The location of the hotel is great due to its height and due to being a central place for going on many field trips in the Serra da Estrela Nature Park area. The hotel itself has quite simple rooms, the typical European breakfast, there are not many options for restaurants nearby and the hotel offers a buffet-style dinner

It’s a cosy, classic hotel. Very typical for the area. The outside pool is very small - it’s like a tank. The indoor pool is not incredible. It’s connected to the outdoor pool and it’s not super warm or anything. The breakfast is OK, not incredible but good. It needs some renovation. The AC is powerful but noisy.

This place is worth a visit if just for the views. This is the highest hotel in Portugal, the road up to this place seem to be going up forever. An excellent self service breakfast is included in the price

Room very tired. Breakfast and dinner buffet were good and staff very attentive. Nice and warm in all areas. Stupid seating in bar area but other random seating areas in-between floors looked far better

Rooms and Toilets are poor, bar furniture is also poor, it is a 3 star facility with 4 star prices. However, all employees without exception were 6 STAR, professional and kind, it made the difference in our stay and makes you forget the Hotel facilities.

Very nice hotel, good breakfast and dinner, good service, room is ok for 4 star hotel.

Ok, for a 3 stars, but it doesn’t deserve the 4 stars anymore. The people are nice, but the place needs a big change. The pool was super cold, and the common places are not comfortable. The building needs a new face

Dear Sir, Madam Good afternoon I booked a room at the Luna serra da Estrela hotel yesterday personally at the reception, paid 50% of the room price (50,5€) - family room 235. Today they called me and said that they made a mistake and made a double booking and double payment( so he take money from me and another people). Offered to return the money or another room more expensive by 80% with my surcharge. At the reception they refuse to give the contact of the manager to resolve the issue. I ask you to help in resolving the issue or give the contact of the hotel manager. Thanks and best regards Dubachenko O. Here's a text yesterday was written to several electronic mail networks of the hotel, no response!!!!! We booked a room for a birthday, the problem is that a restaurant was booked nearby! All plans are thwarted, no one calls and does not solve the problem!!!! how so it is possible to begin with ? all over the world, if something happens due to the fault of the hotel, the manager finds a solution! and the story that they made a reservation for an already booked room? Well, that's impossible!!! program soon! who will respond at all? 11.18 birthday, the mood is spoiled!!!

Lovely location, unfortunately we had a yellow weather warning for rain whilst we were there so were unable to do much as we were on motorbikes. The views travelling to and from the hotel were stunning. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

This hotel is good for a couple of days. I recommend not staying for a longer time, as there is not much to do in the surroundings. The hotel is very nicely decorated with good restaurants. There are not much possibilities for dinner and the names of the food is not always clear. The breakfast was way better than dinner. The swimming pool is pretty small, not recommended when it is crowded. Overall a nice place to stay.

Very professional staff and a nice, comfortable room. Great location too, halfway from Covilhā and the top of the Serra. Extremely comfortable room and bed.

Outdated and noisy (you can hear talking in other rooms and walking on the corridors), AC didnt work making the room very hot. Outdated and dirty hair dryer as well as the bathroom heater. Small pool and cold water. Short curtains which makes the room full of sunlight early in the morning.
