Today I witnessed something that is truly disgusting. The receptionist (large lady with spiky hair) was attending a Muslim lady. She was trying to make an appointment for an ultrasound and the receptionist got hysterical and said she would not make an appointment as the muslim lady didn’t speak English and she would need to ask questions which she wouldn’t be able to answer. I couldn’t hear if she spoke English or not as she was softly spoken. Another man who was waiting offered to translate and the receptionist refused as he wasn’t family. Not only was she rude, intolerant and racist, she raised her voice to further embarrass the lady nor seemed to make any attempt to help her. My mother has been to this business and has never been asked “questions” so have no idea what the receptionist meant. As per your reviews, this is the second time someone who was Muslim wearing a hijab did not feel comfortable in your premises. In this day and age, this is disgusting and embarrassing. Train your staff to be tolerant and not be racist. If she cannot work in a customer facing role in a typical ethnic area, then she should not be there. No need to respond requesting an email as clearly you don’t do anything with it. If you are a person who does not look Australian, do not go here

Rude customer service and dead slow response in attending patients at the front desk. However my x-ray was pleasant and thorough. Happy with the examination.

Very rude customer service by front desk staff. Staff will benefit from some training to behave professionally and staff should be supported by radiology to have time off if they are having bad day :) customer service experience can be very pleasant if reception staff provide support to customers :)

As a fellow health care professional, I am extremely appalled by the behaviour displayed by the supervising technologist towards me. I went in for a simple MRI and the religious discrimination I faced by this lady was absolutely unbelievable and straight out disgusting. As a Muslim hijabi (religious covering) woman, I have never felt so uncomfortable and judged by an individual, especially not with in the medical field. Our code of ethics aligns with all other healthcare professionals, which is to care for the patient and practice as well as promote the following principles of care: 1. respects the dignity and autonomy of the patient. 2. recognises and respects patients’ diversity, cultural knowledge and skills, gender, beliefs, values, characteristics and lived experience, and does not discriminate* on any grounds. She most definitely does not practice the above principles that should be embedded within every patient to health care professional interaction. In other words she is no professional. She showed no respect, sympathy or care towards my concerns. She was extremely rude and dismissive of my feelings when I expressed and defended my self. To give you an insight, I walked into the MRI room, where I was confronted by her, who immediately told me to remove everything under my hijab despite there being no metal which I expressed to the lady outside, who said it was okay. She rudely replied “no, just take it off”. I was happy to do so regardless. I then asked her as we were in open rooms connecting to other rooms with large windows, “Are there any males in the next room just so I can comfortably remove my hair ties under the hijab without revealing my hair”, she responded sarcastically ‘ do you see any males’, I dismissed this and further proceeded to explain “I’m just asking to make sure so I can do what you’ve asked me to, I don’t mind if they’re present during the MRI , it’s just that I’m unable to reveal my hair Infront of males,”, she then further responded “ even if there were males, so what, I cant do anything about that’’. It took me a while to process her rude and abrupt responses. I confronted her about her attitude as it was completely inappropriate and unnecessary to talk to me like that, let alone anyone in that manner. She became very defensive and refused to acknowledge her behavior or take any accountability. She did not listen to my concerns and said that I was over reacting as she raised her voice. At that stage I was very uncomfortable and felt unsafe with her, so I requested for another person to do the MRI or someone else I can speak to. Unfortunately, she said no one else can help me and that she is the supervisor. I was in shock. As a person in a management position, her responsibility is to resolve conflict and act in an acceptable manner. I kept trying to reason with her to avid further dispute, however, she started yelling further and pointed her finger directly at me and becoming extremely aggressive with her body language. I could no longer deal with that type of harassment, so I asked help from her colleague who just walked in. Not surprisingly, I was faced with the same cold treatment and was asked to leave. They were not willing to resolve the matter at all. So I left. It was evident that she had a personal issue with me the moment I walked through those doors. She was an older woman who acted with so much hate and ridicule against a young female. I’m 100% positive she has acted this way with other women who may not have been able to stand up for themselves and had to tolerate this type of disrespectful and condescending behavior. To I-Med Radiology Epping, please ensure your employed staff act with basic human empathy, respect and professionalism as this is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the type of health care you are offering to the public. Plus, considering the demographic of north Melbourne, wiser choices on staff should be implemented. Thank you for not following up with my complaint. Ps. I have further be reported this incident to AHPRA and ASMIRT

I was sent a text advising that reports have been sent to GP, so I booked an appointment, organised a time off from work but when I met GP, he said they have not sent a report yet. GP asked reception to follow up & I am asked to go home. GP said he would call me once he received a report. Did not expect such a dreadful service from a private practice operator. What a waste of time. Shocker ...

The ladies at the reception are so rude, it’s a shame how they talk to people who walk in there. Especially Jo, she was rude to the man in front of me in the queue and she was very rude to me as well. Not sure if it was because of the colour of my skin or she is a rude person in general.

AVOIDDD!!! You will definitely find out why there rating is horrible when you go there. Unfriendly reception staff, who cannot get a simple request right The tech was also super awkward, coming here excitedly for an ultrasound which I have to pay for was such a bad/uncomfortable experience

I have done my X-ray at I-Med Epping on 3rd week of October. Reception staff were not that friendly, when I was in the que they were chatting instead of serving the patients. Also I noticed that when they verify the personal details they are repeating themselves loudly, DOB, address etc. Everybody in the waiting room can hear the details of other patients, this is breach of privacy. Also for the result, I have to chase them couple of times and reception staff giving wrong information. Look like they need more training!!!!

Wish I could give half a star for this place. Have been doing scans for my Cancer for 10 years. Yesterday while having my bone scan the monitor was left within my eyeline and I could see where the Cancer had spread. Very confronting. Never in 10 years had anything so amateurish happened. Cancer can be a mental demon as well as physical. This incident didn't help.

Really bad experience. Lady at the reception was super rude. Appointment was 1.50pm we arrived at 1.45pm and she said you have missed your appointment because you need to come 20 min prior to appointment. When we tried to explain she said we have given your place to someone else so there is no point. After waiting food 45 min our turn came. The guy who performed the US was also not cooperative at all. My wife tried to explain the painful areas to him but he completely ignored her and kept on doing what he wanted to do. I hope i never had to go back again. Worst of the imeds

Absolutely pathetic service and rude behaviour at the front desk. Blonde lady at front desk was on her personal ph calls and made u wait. Later, turned out and said you were late. I paid $345 out of pocket for that rude & unacceptable behaviour, i would no way go near in future. I-med give yourself a favour by teaching your staff how to greet and deal with customers. I wasnt there for a freebie but a paid service. That rude attitude is completely unacceptable. No wonder 2.4star rating I will post this on various forums so people could make informed decisions in the future.

Referred to I-MED by my GP in Prahran. Easy online booking. Good communication prior to appointment. Waited 5 minutes to be seen. Technician answered all my questions during Ultrasound . Very professional and friendly. At end of visit reception did my Medicare rebate for me . Only negative was I had to sit in waiting room hearing whining patients demanding instant attention.

I attended your clinic this morning for an appointment. Before I was checked in I witnessed your receptionist attending to a lady who was trying to make an appointment for an ultrasound. Your receptionist became very aggressive and said she would not make an appointment as the lady didn’t speak English. She insisted that she would need to ask questions which she wouldn’t be able to answer and she would need to bring someone who could translate. A man who was waiting offered to translate and the receptionist refused as he wasn’t family. Not only was she rude, intolerant and racist, she raised her voice to further embarrass the lady. She did not make any attempt to help her. After checking in and witnessing this appalling display, my own experience with both the young women who completed my mammogram and ultrasound was extremely positive. They were compassionate, understanding and extremely professional. A shame that the same couldn't be said for the receptionist staff who were abrupt to the point of being rude. I-Med please review your reception staff.

Do yourself a favor and never go here. They now charge for ultrasounds and probably other tests too. Despite getting a rebate from medicare you are still out of pocket over $100. Must be turning into AMERICA. Disgusting. Probably privately owned by a certain demographic that love to take peoples $$ . Go to FMIG instead. They dont charge.

The fustration just to get an appointment is ridiculous. Waited 2 days, then recieved 3 calls within an hour on the 3rd day- didnt pick up as I was in a meeting. Attempted to call back, they keep you on the switchboard for 10 minutes and then hang up, this occured multiple times. I booked online and then recieved a notification for the wrong day and time and also that they charge even on medicare. Ultrasounds for upper abdomen when murphys sign is positive, should not be charged.

Friendly professional staff. I was seen dead on my appointment time. I was informed about the test and the procedure that would be followed. Although there were waiting periods between each step of the process, I never felt I was forgotten or not being looked after.

Rude staff was told one fee on the phone then came in was told it was more. Definitely need to show a bit more compassionate and be nicer to people we are not a third world health system...

Carmel was such an amazing support and she was very professional. She was so patient and went above and beyond to make sure that I could get my CT-scan done. Thank you so much Carmel. Wouldn’t hesitate twice about going back.
