If your going to be in Nelson please stop by the visitor center, its inside a nicely preserved historical train station. Has a excellent coffee shop next door. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They can answer all your Nelson related questions. They provided us with an itinerary you can follow to visit and learn about the historical sites throughout the beautiful unique city of Nelson BC. The center provides the typical tourist information and a wide selection of Nelson branded items and local crafts. We couldn't resist purchasing some items to commemorate our experience. I encourage you to drop by, you wont be disappointed.

The women here are sassy, friendly, and super helpful! The building itself has lots of character too and there is a cafe and an awesome selection of locally made gifts and souvenirs. Much better than the internet for finding the best that Nelson and the surrounding area has to offer!

If you need info on Nelson, a great stop for you. The person helping us provided great info for hiking/snowshoeing, food, and near by fun activities. The reading material and maps available were amazing. We were fully informed by the time we left.

The front desk was super helpful and I appreciated their input. They gave me a map and directions to my accommodation and for town. Would love to see a board with local events and businesses at the centre to help guide someone’s time in Nelson!

We ALWAYS go into the Visitor Centre everywhere we travel, even if we know the area. They have so many helpful pamphlets and displays that show things we might have missed. LOVE Nelson’s! They were wonderful!!!

Awesome place to learn about Nelson! Needed some information on the sights around the town and they were very knowledgable and helpful and provided me with tips. The pamphlets are super useful too! There is also a lovely model of the tran station inside and my kids loved it! Bought some souvenirs as well at a reasonable price.

As visitor centres go, this is a good one. Get your Kootenay Life merch here. Staff are friendly as heck.

Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I recommend stopping here for some info especially if unfamiliar with the area/outdoor activities/hiking in the general region. The woman that helped us provided some great info for Nelson and the Kootenays in general. Stopped here for some postcards (pretty good selection) and ended up learning from an employee it was salmon spawning season and got to see some at a nearby park! Also, there are some nice shirts and other gifts here.

They've never bugged me for using the bathroom unlike most Nelson businesses (the adventurer hotel is lucky. Lucky I don't have the time or energy to pursue assault charges for the time they beat me for using their bathroom. I was a paying customer. That's got nothing to do with this fine establishment of course)
