Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this motel. The bathroom was very clean as were the floors and all surfaces. The design is cute and comfortable, and the courtyard area would be very enjoyable in the summer. I also liked the self-service check in and check out - it was very convenient. We also took advantage of the free transit passes available. This was handy as the motel is about a 20 min walk from downtown, but busses run quite frequently. I knocked one star off because the sheets had some stains and tears as well as what appeared to be a small amount of dog hair. They were definitely clean but I think either the person changing the sheets had a lot of pet hair on their clothes, or the laundry facilities need an upgrade. It was not a huge deal for us, but would have been for someone with allergies. A few suggestions to improve the experience: -resolve the bedding issue and ensure all sheets are free of stains, tears, and hair. -consider adding a small fire pit to the courtyard so that it can be used in the winter. -add a vending machine or two to the ice room - since there are kettles and microwaves in the rooms I bet cup noodle and other simple snacks would sell well.

Loved this place! Booked it just as the cheapest I could find in Banff because we just needed a one night stay, but was so happy with it! Check in was a breeze, they provide a Roam bus pass for everyone in your room, super dog friendly (had several bowls and dog bed all ready for our arrival), as many have mentioned the mug you get! You can tell the motel is well thought out with it's amenities. Actually wish we were staying longer. Highly recommend this place!

Best hotel/motel I've ever stayed in! Really beautiful, full of personality, vibrant, and big. I can't believe it's only rated a 2 star hotel officially. There's a courtyard, and nice balconies as well. I don't think I'll ever find another hotel as good as this one. Also, a nice touch with the complimentary mugs! Really feels like the owners of this place care about the people staying here. :)

This amazing little motel is the best value for your money in Banff, no question. Rooms are totally renovated in a cute, modern, style - the bed was comfy, the bathroom floor was heated (!), and had an amazing view of the sunrise over the mountains. The cleaning service came and made up our room each day for us, something I was not expecting in a motel. The courtyard in the center is quiet and peaceful, a bit removed from the road, and there is a vending machine, ice machine, and a whole gas station with an extensive convenience store/grocery market across the way. The local soap products in the bathrooms smell fresh and amazing. The room has a mini-fridge, a coffee maker, and a water boiler. There are adorable orange ceramic branded mugs that you get to take home at the end of your stay! We were able to store our luggage the day we arrived and the day we left (for 6+ hours each time) for free at the Caribou Lodge sister hotel down the road - this saved us paying for luggage storage. They also provided us with a free bus pass for each of us for the 3 days of our stay, saving us so much money! The bus lines run right at the end of the road from the Dorothy and take you anywhere you could want to go - we skipped renting a car and highly recommend it! No sitting in traffic for us! If we had wanted, you have all the amenities of the Caribou Lodge just a few minutes down the road. For the cost savings of a teeny bit of a walk further than the Caribou Lodge, The Dorothy is amazing value.

If your lucky you can pay as low as 106$ per night, but be aware this place is a motel, the floor is intense ha! Their accommodations are available in the main hotel (the caribou lodge) with is like a 2 minute walk. The gym is a joke but the spa is fun almost as big as a pool with a sauna, worth the walk! In the room our safe was locked (couldn’t use it), there was a mini fridge, a microwave, mini coffee machine and a kettle… they could improve by adding dished, TEA, and a working safe. Other than that it was perfect for our ski getaway. The shelf in the bathroom heats from the heater underneath so our ski gears were always dry and warm!

Great place and only a 15 minute walk to downtown. The decor was really nice and the rooms were clean, and regularly serviced. We had an upstairs room which was quiet and received plenty of light. It also had a small balcony which we could sit on for a coffee in the morning....or a beer in the evening. The location is nice, set back from the main road but only a minute walk to the nearest bus stop. Being that it is operated by the nearby Caribou Lodge all queries go through them. It also means that you can use their amenities such as laundry and hot pool. If we go back to Banff we would definitely try to book into the Dorothy.

I have to say, this Motel is a very nice place to stay. Very basic, but you're really only in your room to sleep and maybe watch a little TV before bed. I will definitely go back to The Dorothy if I'm back in Banff.

Stayed here for a week in June, great spot! Close enough to town that you can walk but not too close that is rowdy and busy. Super comfortable beds, clean bathroom, a kettle! and enough storage for our stuff. Cute little meeting spot out back for coffee or reading in the sun. Loved that we got to take a piece home (mug). Free parking and bus passes! Loved it. Staff was also always helpful when I called the Buffalo. Would def stay again and recommend.

Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 little ones have stayed here for one night. (Thanksgiving day) If you were to book this inn, you should know that you need to check-in and out at a different location, which is 5mins walk from there so better check it before going so you don't have to go back and forth(which we did). You can use a swimming pool and sauna(included) where you check in and out if you like. At first we went into the room, I was a bit confused if it was outdated or a retro theme. Soon I figured it was a theme. Lol Super clean and comfortable. Seriously the beds were so comfy. The coffee they provided was so good, their mugs were super cute and there was a sign saying that we could take one of them so I did! Wanted to buy another but didn't see anybody there to ask so just one. And now I'm sipping my coffee from that very mug and writing this review! The only thing I would consider changing is putting ventilation in the washroom. There was no fan system. I'll definitely stay there again if I get a chance to go back to majestic Banff!

This hotel is a great budget option for travelers wanting to stay in Banff. The caribou lodge gives you bus passes and access to their amenities. The hotel it’s self is comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

A really nice room to stay in Banff. This was the cheapest room we could find here and it didn’t disappoint The room was very clean and spacious. Big TV and Air-con Wi-Fi worked really well Bathroom was really nice, shower pressure was also good Comfy beds They also provide a free mug in the room to take away which is a really nice touch Highly recommend 10/10

We stayed there on third week of June. Rooms were big enough for family of 4 (2kids) and all the amenities were sufficient. It was definitely more than a motel and the staff at Caribou lodge were very helpful. The free tickets for buses were a bonus. Best location!

I enjoyed my stay at the motel. It was renovated and a great price . However the floors in the room were disgusting and sticky. I found a shoe under my bed and there was a stain on the wall. The attention to detail for cleaning could use a major improvement. Now the positives: they allow dogs, newly renovated and the beds were comfy. One night my puppy decided to piss on my pillow. I called room service and offered to pick up new sheets. Drove to the satellite hotel. The guy who was on that night forgot about me. Kept me waiting for an hour plus. Will I stay here again ? Yeah. But I hope they improve on cleaning and attention to detail. This motel is beside a gas station and an a & w. So it’s very close to snacks. The motel has many board games you can borrow for your stay as well. It’s very close to the dog park and doggy daycare just in case you bring your doggy on vacay. The court yard is beautiful and has seating. My only suggestion is a bbq rental.

Really great stay. Clean, nicely decorated. Nice touches included: all natural toiletries, coffee, mini fridge, access to the sauna/hot tub at the nearby partner hotel. Great location, close to downtown (5 min). I’d highly recommend staying here during your trip to Banff.

I love staying at The Dorothy! This is a fully renovated motel where you access your room directly from outside. It’s a U-shape with a beautiful patio in the middle and plenty of parking all around. There’s also free parking on the street right out front. They are pet friendly as well! The beds are comfy and the pillows I wish I could take home with me! There’s a small table to eat or to work, a counter with a coffee maker, kettle, microwave and mini fridge! There’s cubbies to store things, a bench to sit, hooks to hang jackets, and a spacious bathroom with a tiled shower. The motel is right on the edge of town but still very walkable. I love it because it is quiet and you may even see wildlife in the parking lot in the morning! The ONLY reason I’m giving 4 stars is that in winter, the floors are absolutely freezing so be sure to bring slippers and warm socks!

What an excellent stay! The room is decorated so nicely, the amenities are very reasonable and the room felt fresh and clean. For the price and location, you truly couldn’t ask for much more. I’ll absolutely be staying here again next time I’m in Banff.

Just outside of downtown but closer enough to walk. We did get complimentary bus vouchers as part of the stay but had to pick it up from the hotel located adjacent. Beds were comfy, had all the amenities required for our 3 day stay. The place was newly renovated. Stayed in September 2021

The place is so cozy and nice. Loved the decorations and the overall ambient of the room. The room was clean, tidy, cute and huge. Access to kettle. microwave and fridge makes the trip more budget friendly. The location is very close to Banff town center, 10 minutes walk.

You check in at the Banff Caribou about a block west. This is the former Bumpers Inn but nicely upgraded- new flooring and cool wallpaper in the rooms, soaring ceilings on the second floor, comfortable beds, cool showers and really quiet. Only issue for me was that it's a long (2km) walk to any decent coffee and then another km to any real choice in dining. But that's why it's so quiet and peaceful. I'd stay here again, without hesitation.

Room was not clean. 1. Pillows had stains and other human/animal hair on them. 2. Floors were definitely not mopped, and very dirty. Customer service was awful. When I complained to the front desk, they told me someone would come but no one ever did. I called 3 times. Didn't sleep with the pillows the first night they were so bad. Complained to the front desk, still wasn't cleaned very well. Completely disappointed with the stay, even when given a chance, it wasn't rectified to my satisfaction.

We have stayed at this property 3x. It is Very clean and well designed “motel” slightly off the beaten path in Banff (yet still located close to downtown). The rooms are very generously sized and with fair sized modern designed showers. Their beds are very comfortable and the space is very quiet in general. We absolutely love their natural lemongrass shampoo, body wash, and lotions. We will definitely return to this property for a 4th stay.

Great deal for a very decent room. The room was very clean and I appreciate the use of refillable shampoo, conditioner, and soap containers instead of small individual plastic disposable ones. It's more environment-friendly and it's great that they use local products. Will definitely come back to this place.

Perfect place! Very clean, cute, comfortable, quiet. Mini fridge, kettle and coffee in the room. And with the sister hotel down the block (Caribou Lodge) you have access to some extra amenities (front desk, car rental, laundry, hot tub...). We loved our stay here and would book again!
