Fantastic, memorable, informative, flexible! My friends from Split recommended that we took a private tour with Jelena. Although I have previously been in Split, during the tour with Jelena I was thrilled to discover and experience a completely new side to this interesting town.Especially with so much history and diversity packed within the old historic center. Jelena is a wealth of knowledge. And the way she presents history? Makes it super easy to follow :) Now I have a clear understanding of what makes Split what it is today, after centuries of different cultures mixing and leaving their mark on the town and the wider area. I’m thankful that Jelena shared examples of everyday living in Split in the modern day. It was fascinating and funny to hear how some locals have quite a different take on “daily life” compared to a foreigner visiting. Definitely a highlight for me, were her recommendations for local vendors where to grab a bite ;) Not to forget, Jelena is one of the most charming tour guides I’ve met, and she made it so easy to connect ...She is super attentive! Too bad that we didnt have more time, to go and explore the area at large with her. She had some very alluring suggestion,..next time.

This is the tour guide you want. What's not to like about a kind a gracious local who speaks perfect English with a lovely English accent? This August was the second time we asked Jelena to take care of us on a tour. She took time to consider this and adjusted to the tour to give us some new experiences. Jelena also made reservations for our evening meal, which was exceptional. One highlight for me was choosing to have Jelena order our meal for us. Of course she knew the right appetizers and main dishes to order. What's not to like about a kind, classy and gracious local who is quite proud to tell stories about her town? I wholeheartedly recommend Jelena to you. OH yes! There's more! She also did a BUNCH of work to arrange taxis from the airport for the three couples in our party. As the airline industry was in flux in the summer of 2021, there were many many changes. Jelena took this in stride without any complaint. Here is one rather significant thing she did for us. As she was checking arrival times, she noted that our flight arrived at 10:00pm on a Friday evening. "How will you come to the tour if your flight is at 10:00pm? she asked. I had booked the wrong flight and Jelena caught it! Had she not done this, I would have arrived at the airport, without a reservation for the MORNING flight. Thankfully, I changed the flight without cost and all was well. This may have not been the case if Jelena had not taken time to check our flight schedule. That my friend, is was you call a high level of service. Jelena. Is. The. One. You. Want. be well! dale and allie

We had a limited amount of time (only 6 days) to discover Croatia. A country with such rich history, culture and amazing outdoors and architecture, which we have not previously visited. While planning the trip, we discussed with Jelena various options for two days of sightseeing and exploring the history and local culture in Split and surrounding areas. Jelena provided us with a generous list of options and we settled on a long full day private tour with Jelena and a one day self-guided visit to Hvar. She was very patient and spent time to help us plan the trip in the best way possible. We very much enjoyed the full day with Jelena - covering Diocletian's Palace, Split’s Old Town and surrounding area, visit to Synagogue, Marjane Park with Jewish cemetery and to museum of world-renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. The museum was closed that day, but Jelena was able to get it opened just for us. Then we traveled with Jelena to Trogir which has a lovely old town. Thank you, Jelena, for making our trip a success and sharing your in-depth knowledge of local history and culture with us. We are grateful to you for making our time so enjoyable and for great restaurant recommendations. PS: Jelena was also very helpful in referring us to her colleague in Dubrovnik, a wonderful guide Alberto Frka - we would highly recommend him to anyone planning a visit to Dubrovnik.

Our group’s adventure to Split was made fabulous with the expert knowledge and support of Jelena. She researched and provided suggestions on hotels that met our requirements (we stayed at Hotel Luxe, which was conveniently in proximity to the palace area). Jelena also coordinated several tours for us (Split private walking tour and private bus for trek to Kreka Falls, with lunch stop in Sibenick). In addition, Nelena recommended and arranged several restaurant reservations for our group, tailored to the groups preferences for food type, quality, etc. I highly recommend Jelena to help plan and organize your visit to Split.

A friend recommended Jelena to me, and now I am recommending her to anyone who may be reading this. She helped me organize the perfect day trip from Split to Krka National Park and Bibich Winery with a private driver. Our driver Rocco was very kind, patient and a great driver. You get what you pay for, and that’s a top notch luxury experience not having to deal with tour buses and big groups. Jelena also provided tons of recommendations for our time in Split and elsewhere in Croatia. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is happy to share with travelers to experience Croatia like a local.

Great walking tour of the old city of Split with Jelena! We spent 3 hours together while she brought the Diocletian Palace and the rich history of the city to life. Jelena was knowledgeable, engaging and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour which went by very quickly. She also explained to us how the small Jewish community factored into the history of the city and we finished our tour at the old synagogue where she introduced us to Albert who told us stories of the synagogue and it’s history.

More than two years ago, pre-pandemic, I was planning a trip to Dalmatia, the birthplace of my maternal grandfather. I came across Jelena's website via internet search, and got in touch regarding a tour of the historic city of Split. I also mentioned wanted to visit the village where my ancestors lived. Without any firm commitment on my part, Jelena began doing research and made some amazing connections. Fast forward two years; my two adult children and I are in finally in Split. We met Jelena, who was personable, astute, and very fluent in English, and set out to drive to the remote village in the Dinaric Alps, overlooking Split, where my grandfather was born in the 19th century. It was there that Jelena's amazing preparations came to light. Not only had she arranged for the village priest to receive us in his beautiful church, but had invited a few of my distant relatives to meet us there as well! The priest had brought his parish register as well, and there were the names of three generations of our family! After walking around the village, the cemetery, a memorial to WWII victims, and the beautiful local natural sights, Jelena suggested we go on to the nearby market town where our forebears were baptized, worked, etc. This happened to be Jelena's hometown, and she/we were pleasantly greeted by many of the locals as we took in the landmarks. While chatting over coffee and pastries at a well-selected cafe, I happened to mention a childhood memory of a certain local dish that my grandmother used to make for me. Quietly excusing herself while we sat, Jelena went to a nearby store and bought the ingredients for the dish I had mentioned and presented them to me as a gift! This generous act and her unasked for preparations for our visit illustrate Jelena's attention to detail and needs of her clients. I would have loved to have had Jelena show us Split and its amazing Roman palace as originally planned, but illness among our party prevented that. If (or when!) I return to Dalmatia we will certainly be in touch with Jelena Vrancic to make our arrangements and show us the places only a local will know. I recommend Jelena's services without any reservation and consider her the very example of what a local guide can and should be!

We had a great experience with Jelena! We were only together for a few hours but she was warm and welcoming. Felt like touring the town with your cousin…with a lot more historical knowledge of course! She tailored our stops and pace with our interests and also taking into account the jet lag. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I traveled to Croatia with a group of friends and family. I was given the job to set up a tour of Split. I found Jelena via a google search. After a few emails back and forth I knew I had found the right person. And within minutes of meeting Jelena in person, I knew we were in for a great day. Jelena shines bright! She is smart, kind, funny, thoughtful and has a wonderful personality. At each location in Split she efficiently navigated us through the sites providing us essential and fascinating information. Always attentive to our wants and needs, she showed us the best spots to get good photos for our memories. Jelena was very interactive, she not only built rapport with each of us, but had the entire group in conversation even though we had been strangers. I wholeheartedly recommend Jelena as a guide in Split. Her fun-loving nature, warmth, and client-oriented approach make her a joy to be around. Her extensive experience and passion for her job shine through in every interaction!!!

We had a wonderful time learning and walking thru Dioclesian's palace. It was amazing to see and learn of how this has evolved over the years and we are so glad we found Jalena and toured with her. We can't imagine that anyone else would have been so passionate and lovely as she was. Enjoy your time. Hvala!

Lovely private tour for 3 adult women. Jelena is extremely knowledgeable and informative about the city and it's history. She easily adapted the tour to our interests and pace. She also made shopping and dining suggestions that were excellent. I highly recommend Jelena for tours and travel planning.

Jelena is the best tour guide you could ever hope for! We arranged a walking tour with Jelena prior to our arrival in Split for a holiday. Right from the start Jelena proved she was an amazing guide. She emailed us to ask questions about our interests, and catered a tour to meet the needs and interests of our group. We had an amazing and informative tour of Diocletian’s palace. Jelena really knows her history and it was fascinating to learn about the palace’s varied history. After the palace we toured some other sites in old town, like the amazing farmers market, where Jelena helped us sample some local delicacies. After we headed to Ivan Mestrovic’s art museum for views of Croatian art and the Adriatic Sea. Jelena is super fun and informative, and her English is actually impeccable (she was an English teacher for over a decade). I couldn’t recommend her tours enough!

Jelena was an amazing guide. We went on a walking tour of the palace and the old city in Split with her. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and local culture. Her warm caring personality combined with her impeccable English made it one of the best tours we have had. We highly recommend her, and would love to take another tour with her in the future.

I can't recommend Jelena enough, she's absolutely lovely, very knowledgeable and great fun. The tour was awesome we learned a lot not just about Diocletian Palace but about the whole of Split. At the end of the tour I had planned to propose to my girlfriend, Jelena was aware of this and recommended we go to the Park in Split. She went over and above by putting me in touch with another local company, Picnic with Monet, to help set up a picnic where I proposed. It will be a tour and day we never forget.

We have done an amazing 3 hours tour through the old city centre of Split. From the first moment you could feel that Jelena loves this city and is still fascinated herself from the historic background and all the stories that coming along with. She managed to explain all the cultural and historic contexts besides giving us a feeling of the modern local life style of the people that live here today. We can absolutely recommend the time with Jelena!

Jelena’s tour of Split was the highlight of my trip to Croatia! She is passionate about her career and her city, and I could not stump her with any question 🤣. We started with a historical overview of the city and then thoroughly explored the palace, substructures, and various gates and sections of the old town. Jelena also had great suggestions for how I could spend the rest of my time in Split. She made herself available on very short notice and was generous with her time. Could not have been better!

Jelena Vrancic is the standard by which I will judge all private tour guides in the future. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could do better. She was knowledgeable, flexible in tailoring the tour and her time with us to our personal interests, helpful in advance by recommending a great hotel and several restaurants and even making reservations for us, and just plain fun to be with. We will be recommending her to all our friends who plan to visit Split in the future.

Our group included five adults, three teenagers and my five year old niece. Jelena did an incredible job creating an experience that everyone enjoyed. Jelena was friendly, knowledgeable and customized the tour to the diversity of interests. She knows where all the hidden gems of the city are and it felt like had an insiders view and not on a standard tourist tour. She also arranged an amazing excursion outside the city to a beautiful park, vineyard, falcon reserve and the best meal we had in Croatia. can’t imagine visiting Split and the surroundings without the guidance of Jelena!

Slovenia and Croatia Private Tour My family were beyond happy to have Jelena plan our vacation. I was looking for a local guide to help me organize a two week trip to Slovenia and Croatia. Initially, I either found a non-local person or a company charging way too much money. I was very lucky to have found Jelena. In the planning stages of the trip, Jelena emailed me a very detailed itinerary, based on our wishes and ideas. In the next few weeks we went back and forth, finalizing our trip. We then had a video chat to talk about the details of our vacation. Jelena had a few suggestions for us to see or do that we hadn’t considered. Jelena also suggested local guides in each area to ensure we had the best experience. I could spend hours writing about each of the guides: Tjasa in Ljubljana, Grega in Bled, Nenad in Zagreb, Petra in Plitvice Lakes, Esmer in Mostar, Ivan in Dubrovnik and of course Jelena in Split and nearby areas - each guide was an expert in the area and enhanced our experience. In addition, each and every guide was simply a great and fun person. Jelena was with us for two 9-hour days, exploring Split, Sibenik, Klis fortress and Krka national park. I will echo the other reviewers that Jelena is extremely knowledgeable, with breadth and wealth of information and experience. Jelena is also smart, funny, witty, considerate, caring and simply wonderful. On the days free off organized tours, Jelena gave us suggestions on things to do or places to see, including which beach to go to and which ones to avoid. She also gave us recommendations for restaurants and made reservations at some of them. And she was spot on with each and every one of them as the food was amazing. Jelena also suggested to have a driver for one of the days due to roads and parking difficulties. I would never have known that, and I’m glad we hired a driver. Philip was a very experienced driver with the best playlist. There is a lot of information about Slovenia and Croatia on Internet, including the TripAdvisor site - it can be very overwhelming. Having Jelena plan our trip was the best thing I have done while traveling. The amount of time she had spent putting this trip together and the attention to details are just unbelievable. Our trip was so much better because of Jelena. Her knowledge, expertise, hard work and knowing people in other parts of the country as well as another country (we also went to Mostar), elevated our experience to a completely different level. Jelena's final version of the itinerary included day by day activities, the names and contacts of each guide, coordinates of the meeting spot, and all the prices so there were no surprises. On a personal level, Jelena is the person you want to have as a friend. She was able to connect with me as well as my teenage sons. It simply felt like we were hanging out with our best friend. I would highly recommend having Jelena as your guide, whether it is to plan a trip and help you learn and explore Split. If she doesn’t know something, she knows a person who does.

Jelena is amazing guide! I visited Split with short business visit and had not so much time for sightseeing. The weather was windy and rainy, and it was very difficult to find suitable time to look local attractions. Fortunately Jelena was very flexible and find time to show me the old city and museums between my business meetings and torrential rains! I'm not a native English speaker and was a little bit worried if I understood Jelena completely. Don't worry! Her English is perfect, as an English teacher from the Great Britain! Actually Jelena is a brilliant speaker! Her historical knowledge are very deep and she is able to present it in a best way. I'm really happy by choosing her as my guide. I fell in love with Split and Croatia thanks to Jelena.

This trip has been AMAZING since Croatia is a beautiful country with beautiful and amazing people. We arrived to Split with no plans and were lucky enough to find Jelena through a friend who recommended her. Visiting Split was a very rewarding experience, Jelena is amazing and incredibly knowledgeable with interesting facts and stories to share. She discussed the history of the area to give us as clear of an understanding as possible. She gave us tips and helped organized other parts of our trip and checked in to make sure everything went well. It was a pleasure to spend time with her , a true professional. The visit could not been the same without the AMAZING time we had with Jelena . Very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Thank you!!!

Our tour of Split with Jelena was fantastic! Her knowledge and enthusiasm of Split enabled us to fully experience and appreciate the city. She has a great personality and made the tour fun. We felt by the end of the tour that we had made a new friend. Book a tour with her, she is the best!

Jelena was our guide in Split and did an amazing job. More importantly she planned and arranged our entire three week trip to Croatia and Slovenia. Each day was a unique experience from wine tasting to truffle hunting and spectacular custom curated tours. She even gave dinner suggestions and made reservations for us. She advised us on how to see areas that did not require a guide. Her guides and drives were knowledgeable and very professional. I cannot image how any else could pull off this feat without her intimate knowledge of the area. Five plus as a travel agent not just a guide

Jelena is the best of the best - she is one of the best tour guides we have ever worked with. We did the Diocletians Palace plus wine tasting tour and it was the highlight of our time in Split. Not only is Jelena incredibly knowledgeable but she makes learning the history so much fun we could have spent all day with her! If planning a visit to Split/Dalmatia make sure too book a day with Jelena you will be very grateful you did. We can’t wait to return and have her show and educate us more on the beauty that is the Dalmatian Coast!

Jelena put together a 9 day private tour for myself and 16 year old granddaughter which was ultimately the best trip I’ve ever been on. We loved every minute of our exploration of the Dalmatian Coast and the surrounding area! We could not pick one single tour or activity as a favorite, every tour, guide, event was memorable including our guided tour of Split with Jelena. We cant wait to go back! Jelena was meticulous in her planning, her coordination with other providers and she was always available! I highly recommend Jelena, she is truly amazing!

Jelena is an amazing tour guide and travel designer! I contacted her about two weeks before arriving with my children in Split, Croatia, for a holiday, and she set up our airport transfers and several private tours, to include a walking tour of Split's Old Town, a lovely outing to Krka Waterfalls, and a day boating and swimmingn while seeing the nearby islands of Brać and Šolta. She also was helpful by recommending beaches to visit and good local restaurants. Jelena went above and beyond and made our visit to Split a special and memorable family vacation. It was an amazing experience! I highly recommend Jelena if you want an incredible vacation you'll never forget with superb service and support!

Jelena have arranged a private customized 9-day trip itinerary to Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro including all booked daily tours and private transportation. All the tour guides were knowledgeable, and drivers were always on time. She has perfectly designed the tour plan according to my preferences and interests. She has also recommended dining options and suggested attractions to visit. Furthermore, I enjoyed my split walking tour with Jelena and the information she has shared. I would highly recommend contacting Jelena to design your Croatia trip that you will never forget.

My wife and I had the most intelligent and well-paced tour of our trip to Croatia in Split, with Jelena as our guide. Her historical knowledge was surpassed by her enthusiasm for her city, country, and its people. We had a leisurely walk along the waterfront to Diocletian's Palace, where Jelena discussed the marvels of Roman architecture, in particular how the basement structure survived through the centuries until it was recently excavated. It was fascinating. As we walked through the old city, both within and without the Palace walls, we heard Croatian accapella singers perform, and the joyous singing at a wedding in the Cathedral Square. Jelena took time to discuss both her country's past and the upheavals of the recent Homeland War. She also was a fount of great suggestions for the rest of our time in Split. We highly recommend her, both for Split and a broader tour of the region.

What a wonderful introduction to Split! Knowledgeable, articulate, and extremely personable, Jelena is the perfect tour guide. She made a point of learning the interests of each person in our party of four (history, food, jewelry, etc.) and then tailored her tour accordingly. Over the course of the next three days in Split, we followed her restaurant and side-trip recommendations religiously and were never disappointed. Thank you Jelena!
