A beautiful and historic barn on the Gettysburg Battlefield. I return often to paint this barn. Here is a view of it in the fall.

The site of a contentious battle fought here on July 2nd 1863. The Trostle farm was the site where General Dan Sickles lost his leg. The battle between Bigelowโ€™s Union Artillery and the 21 st Mississippi was also on this site during the retreat from the Peach Orchard salient. Many photos were taken on this farm after the battle. The barn is also famous for the shell hole in the brick wall.

This is a beautifully presentation. there is a blast hole in the gables of the barn. The vista is lovely from here but this was ground zero for much of the action. This was the spot if Gen Sickle and he was wounded here.

Incredible place. Looking just south west you can see a witness tree, A huge old white oak that saw action between the two armies of North and South. Go and give it some friendly taps, Or a hug. It has earned it.

Very interesting and well preserved place. Barn still has cannon ball hole in it from the Civil War. Adds character and looks great! Very historical landmark.

A great example of an early stick frame built farm house. Look for the artillery shell sticking out of the summer kitchen. You can see it from the road near the top

Not the most interesting place if there wasn't a cannonball hole in the brick. The ball went through the brick and got caught in the trusses. Its on display at one of the museums

Cool place to visit. Walked around the barn, but not the house, wasn't sure if you are allowed to.

Cool,,Little piece of history is still around. Cannonball through the brick and mortar that was never fixed. Plenty of barn, swallows grasshoppers and red Delicious apples.
