Seriously one of the best burgers I’ve ever had and I’m normally not a huge burger person! The hot granny was phenomenal! Best part was definitely the fried pickles and the special sauce it came with!! If I’m ever in the area this is the first place I’m coming back to!

The cheese curd starter was good.. but our burgers were absolutely fantastic and highly recommended - specifically my perfectly cooked bison burger. They are VERY busy but you can sit next door at the Wild Spruce Market - to include some better outdoor seating even..! You can order inside for 'takeout' and tell them you will be next door or order from nextdoor with the QR code - and they will deliver your food to you! Also the Wild Spruce next door has coffee and beer..!

Been looking for a TRULY GREAT burger since we moved to the Black Hills ten years ago and finally found it at Burger and Bun! Everything we ordered was delicious and had layers of flavor. You can tell every offering on the menu was created with love, care and attention to detail. Thank you to the owners and staff for making our experience one to look forward to again.

Detailed Description: Ambience: 4⭐ Value of money: 5⭐ Choices: 5 ⭐ Taste:5 ⭐ The Black Hills Burger and Bun Co is well-known in it's bison 🦬 burger 🍔. For those who craves for bison burger, this is one of the best burger dine-in place I ever in the US so far. First and foremost, I rated 4 ⭐ for the ambience of it primarily because of the limited size of the restaurant and also the short operating hours. Given the size of it and also the high popularity, if you would love to enjoy the burger in the restaurant, you might want to plan ahead. Talking about the value of money, the burgers provided were definitely worth the penny. The burger and fries are decent. Most importantly, they were not overpriced. In terms of choices, one of the uniqueness of the Black Hills B &B co is the choices they offer. They don't just have the classic burger, they do have some unique burgers like The Hot Granny, the combinations with juicy bison patty, sweet and sour cream cheese and sweet-spicy jalapeno sauce make the burger one of a kind. The burgers 🍔 I had were delicious! You might be worried about the burgers toppings would actually seem odd. Believe it or not, they tastes so astonishingly delicious and great! I bet you would be craving for it again after having it. Lastly, I would strongly recommend them if you ever visit to South Dakota.

I drove an hour with my kids just to eat here and as usual it didn't disappoint! Excellent food! Very busy, which was expected. Staff worked quickly to get people seated and orders in for those of us waiting by the door. This made the wait short! We sat at an outside, overflow seating, which was fine with me. Fun "throwback" experience for me because my parents owned the building in the 70's and 80's when it was the Dakota giftshop. I have some very young childhood memories there!

We really enjoyed our burgers from here. The wait for a table was long but we were happily served some take out. It did not disappoint. The menu is creative and leaves you wanting to visit again to try some of the other choices! I opted for the Hot Granny with bison. It was very tasty but also a messy burger. Don't try to eat this on the road, it requires your full attention! We also enjoyed the cheese curds. Service was fast and friendly. While certainly a great burger joint, I don't know that I'd go as far to say they have the best burgers in the country, as they've been crowned by Trip Advisor. I definitely will visit again next time I'm in Custer. Hopefully when that happens, they will have dinner hours available!

Parking is based on local traffic, but we did find close parking. There was a 40m wait for the food and we waiting about 25m for a table. This place gets packed quick. And for good reason! The food was solid, well cooked, and delicious. The staff was very friendly and constantly moving to make room for people and deliver their orders. I see why I was told I had to go!

Counter service restaurant with limited available seating inside (busy). Patio next door available to sit at if you do take-out. Waited about 35 minutes for our to-go order, but we were able to shop and walk around Custer with our buzzer. Burgers and fries were excellent!!

Are helicopter pilot Sammy told us about this place. It was as good as she told us, know wonder she doesn't eat burgers anywhere else, you're lucky to have that, if you live there. Visitors must enjoy the pleasure at least once!

There was a line waiting to get in when I showed up. Many repeat customers. Ordered a fungi burger and cheese curds that were recommended. Expensive but worth it. Burger was messy but I didn't mind. The place filled up fast. Worth checking out in Custer if you can get a table!

I put a takeout order in at the counter at 1:23 pm and finally got my order 2:00 pm. I ordered and paid extra for sweet potato fries. When she handed me the box of my takeout order I asked specifically if they were sweet potato fries and she looked at receipt and said yes. When I got home I found they were regular fries. When I walked in after 30 minutes to check on my order I tried to ask 3 different workers if my order was ready and they were to busy to help me. I tried to call the restaurant when I got home and all I got was a recording of their hours and they hung up. For me, there will probably not be a next visit but if there is I won’t be as generous in tipping for nonexistent service. In all fairness they were still busy. However, service is service whether you dine in or take out. The food was excellent but not exactly what I ordered.

Best burger I’ve ever had! We went twice on our visit to the area. I had The Fun Guy bison burger with sweet potato fries the 1st time. Delicious!! So juicy and flavorful! My husband had The Western bison burger on both visits. I was slightly hesitant on that one because I was afraid they would overdue the bbq sauce. They did not, it was the perfect amount! The grilled onions on his burger were so good! The second time we went, I had The Black Hills Blues bison burger. I wanted to try something a little bit different, that definitely had the grilled onions on it. Their toppings are perfect! Not too much to overpower the burger, and just enough to complement it. The atmosphere is adorable. The restaurant itself is not very big, but they do have seating next door that you can order yours to go and take it with you. We were able to get a seat both times right away. Do you want a good bison burger? This is definitely the place to go!
