A small heart in the metropolis surrounding it. It's quiet, peaceful and eternal. Recommended for those who want to experience a small measure of traditional Japanese peace in Osaka.

Beautiful shrine. Worth visiting. Tea shop was not open when we went on a Monday but there was staff on premises.

Kozugu, also known as Takatsu no Miya (高津宮), holds historical significance in Osaka, Japan. Believed to have been established in the 7th century, it is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Takemikazuchi-no-Mikoto, associated with martial prowess. Originally located in the ancient capital of Naniwa, Kozugu moved several times before settling in its present Osaka location. The shrine played a role in the region's spiritual and cultural development, attracting worshippers seeking protection and success in battle. Over the centuries, Kozugu has undergone renovations and witnessed the evolution of Osaka. Today, it stands as a testament to Japan's rich religious heritage and serves as a cultural landmark. Visitors can explore the shrine's architecture, participate in traditional ceremonies, and experience the spiritual ambiance that connects Osaka to its historical roots. Kozugu remains a revered symbol of divine protection and a link to the cultural tapestry of Osaka.

Loved this shrine! So big, lots of sections and a park that's probably better enjoyed when it's not raining. They had a section for honoring animals also, the sculptures wore red scarves. There's a cafe on the grounds. ¥300 for goshuin. My favorite of the 4 shrines and 1 temple that I visited today
