Update 1/13/22 Decided to have birthday dinner here and it wasn't as pleasant as our first visit. The waitress (Skylar?) has zero personality and customer service. What made that even worse is we had a big group so she got a $50 tip for doing the bare minimum. My family brought a cake for my birthday and we were told we could not cut/serve it ourselves, they would have to do it for a fee of $25. $25 to cut the cake that I brought!!?? Absurd! The only thing that was cut was our evening, we ended up having to take the cake back home to finish the celebration. Really sad about this. Original post: First visit here. Ordered burger, chicken fried steak, taters, Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. We also got lucky and went on Throwdown Thursday and had half price drinks! The perfect margarita was really good and the cocktails were delicious!

Amazing place! Unique menu. Everything is done to perfection. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and they are in a terrific location in the West End. They have a full bar and a coffee bar. The lattes were excellent. The menu has a fresh and creative twist with things like the pancake pot pie and fried tomatoes Benedict. Everything from the service to the food quality and service was spot on. It is definitely worth a visit.

This was my first time here. Pancake pot pie was very good. Do not pour the side of syrup onto this dish; it already has syrup inside. I just added a little at a time as I worked my way through. Very filling and good. I wished there was a little more sausage. Lovely waitress who kept us taken care of. The food came out about 15 minutes after ordering. Loves the experience.

Found this purely by accident but what a find. Great for brunch or breakfast all day. It also seemed like you could just pop in for food but also bring in the whole crew for drinks and dinner. We did some late (real late) breakfast and brunch. Good eggs and chicken salad. Definitely want to try this place again for dinner and drinks. Jesus was a great waiter! He made it a great experience.

Worth the wait! Took us an hour to get seated but the food was DELICIOUS. I love French Toast and this place has one of the best I’ve ever had. Not to mention the syrup brand used made me find it and order online. The one thing I would say was not up to par were the mashed potatoes, probably the only thing that tasted like a “just add water” product. Other than that, definitely recommend!

I loved the restaurant, I can't say the same about our server . It was almost like he wasn't listening to us at all or just didn't care about the quality of the service he was providing. That being said yummy. 🤤. Ellen's is located downtown Dallas. Very limited parking close to restaurant, and it's metered , a quarter for every 15 minutes but there is a pay and park only a block away. The server breakfast , lunch and dinner 🍴.

There was no wait on a 10am Tuesday morning and we were seated immediately in this beautiful establishment. The service was welcoming and our food came out quickly! Their salad had a delicious tangy dressing, they nailed the classic eggs Benedict, and their Pork Tinga Tacos was the perfect amount of spice and kick. The French Toast was the winner - so soft and fluffy, delicately sweet and served with a side of warm syrup. They had metered parking right out front which made parking easy!

This is one of the BEST places that I've ever eaten. I'm shut down right now due to a mechanical failure on my trailer. I come to Texas all the time and this is my absolute favorite place to eat so far! I sat at the bar and the bartender was very sweet! I forget what her name was but, nonetheless... even though it took a little while to get my food, (BECAUSE THEY WERE PACKED) they were very attentive to my bar needs while I was waiting and they were VERY nice. I also would like to point out the teamwork that I observed between the employees which made this place FIVE STARS IN MY BOOK! (By the way I ordered the salmon with cheese broccoli and black-eyed peas). Salute!

This was a first time experience. The atmosphere was nice and the service was amazing. Our food came out quickly. Probably quicker than I ever had anywhere else. I tried the first menu option, the bowl I think it was called, and it wasn't what I expected. My waitress took it back with a smile. Next thing I know, the manager Aaron comes out and apologizes and tells me my next order is coming quickly. We talked about what I didn't like about my first order and he guaranteed that I would like what was coming next! The next thing I ordered was like a big breakfast sort of thing. Definitely better and met my expectations. The whole experience was worth my hour drive and I told Aaron that my husband and I would definitely be back and would tell others. My husband initially ordered the big breakfast and was never disappointed lol.

The food and atmosphere were pretty good. Service was slow for drinks with very few customers. The Bloody Mary left much to be desired and would not recommend; at the price I’d expect more than commercial off the shelf mix and cheap vodka. The breakfast old fashioned was really good. Nice flavor and perfect accompaniment for a hearty brunch. The food was good. Eggs Benedict were cooked nearly perfectly, minus some personal preference. The pancake pot pie… be ready to get full quick! Sweet, savory, delicious gravy. Well done on that dish.

Arrived, and there was a 45-minute wait. That must mean they are busy and the food must be delicious! We waited about 20 minutes, and then I went on and saw the bar top opening up! They said that the area was first come and first served, so I waited. We sat down, and Yesi Jazz B was incredibly amazing. Straight forward, knowledgeable, and accommodating! Was the first time there for me and I will return.

Flavor: A Service: B Mimosas: B Solo dining: B I came for the pancake pot pie and I enjoyed every bite. Don't be quick to pour the syrup on it - I enjoyed some bites without the syrup and it's still great. What a unique creation with all of the breakfast goodness in one bowl. I would've preferred strips of bacon rather than crumbles and I could've had more gravy, but it was overall still great. We waited for a patio table and if the weather is nice I'd highly recommend doing the same.

Our meal was phenomenal. I got the Chicken Fried Steak and I was in culinary heaven. The service was fast, and all the food looked amazing. The restaurant had a good homey atmosphere. I would 100% reccomend if you want breakfast or lunch. If im ever in the area again I will definitely pay another visit

We've been trying to get to this location & had the time to come in. It started a little sketchy because they walked us all the way to the back by the bathroom & the manager's office. But after that it was great. Service was good & so was the food. The breakfast pot pie was good but needed more seasoning & gravy because it was a little dry.

Our first time visiting Ellen’s and they didn’t disappoint. There was a 30 minute wait just to be seated. The ambiance was was comfortable and relaxing. A full bar and plenty of seating outside. I had a chicken salad that was good! My wife and I also had mimosas. They were ok. Ellen’s is a restaurant we will visit again while in Dallas

THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! Such a great blend of flavor and good sized portions for the price. The blood orange mimosa was to die for. To tie together this great experience the service here was the best I’ve had in a long time. Our server frank was very kind and attentive. We will definitely be back next time we visit Dallas.

Warm, friendly atmosphere, off the beaten path, recommended to us by a chef at a different restaurant. Breakfast and lunch are available. We had a short wait for a late breakfast. Good strong coffee and a special coffee. Enjoyed Joe's balls Sampler. The crab ones were our favorite, and Ellen's should bottle the sauce that accompanied them, excellent. Pancakes were fluffy and not sweet, and I loved the soft, whipped butter. French toast was cooked the way we like it. Crisp on the outside, moist in. Biscuits and gravy were good. I would have liked more sausage. Home fries are good. We wanted the pancake pot pie, but they were out, we were told they sell out fast. We will definitely try again if we're ever in the area.

Got there around 11AM and didn’t get seated until 12AM during a Friday. It’s understandable since it’s lunch hour! Not going to complain about the wait. Our service and waitress did an amazing job. We also wanted to thank the cleaning crew too. Everyone was friendly. First off, I ordered an iced chai latte. The drink is huge, so I recommend ordering it if you’re super hungry that day. I had to take my drink to-go after we left. The drink was delicious. I recommend this drink. I also ordered the pancake pot pie. Our waitress recommended I try it. Apparently, it has been featured on Food Network. The pot pie wasn’t that good even though I’m a sweet and savory type. Our waitress also gave us tips on how to eat it with small amounts of syrup since it’s also mushy in the bottom layer. I would likely come back to try another meal. This one just wasn’t it for me.

We've found this breakfast cafe during our stay in downtown Dallas. It was a great find. There was a wait for a table so we decided to sit at the bar. Service was friendly but a bit slow. We had the chicken eggs benedict. It was delicious!

We just loved Ellen's. The customer service was spectacular, and our server, Tracye, was simply the best! She made our dining experience incredibly enjoyable and we enjoyed our conversations with her so much. She was awesome and truly added to our wonderful experience at Ellen's. I started with the Buffalo French Fries and was addicted with the first bite. They are so good!! I couldn't stop eating them. They are my new favorite appetizer. You must order some! I also ordered the fried shrimp with Mac & Cheese and coleslaw. It was divine! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the mac and cheese was full of creamy goodness. The coleslaw offered a nice tang and crunchy bite. My husband ordered the Big Ol' Biscuits & Gravy and raved about every bite. And our daughter ordered the Chilaquiles and enjoyed her meal as well. I highly recommend a visit to Ellen's. The customer service is phenomenal, the establishment is very clean, and the food is divine. The only cons I can bring to one's attention is that it is incredibly busy, so expect a long wait, and parking can be difficult to find, so expect a walk to the restaurant. You have to find street parking with a paid meter or find a paid parking lot. BUT it's SO WORTH IT!
