This is one of the best experiences in Sigiriya. Chef is handy and very good at English. You learn the best tips of Sri Lankan traditional foods. Kitchen is so close the lakeside. Everything is natural like their lifestyle. Maybe you would do your best meal and ate after !!

Shashi’s cooking class (named after her daughter) was a brilliant experience! Most importantly: the food was DELICIOUS - the best we ate in Sigiriya. Shashi speaks good English and she and her sister in law were lovely hosts. They let us cook as many curries as we’d like (we chose to make curries with all the vegetables they had - aubergine, local golden apple, long beans, winged beans, lentil daal, okra) and we made fresh coconut milk to cook with. The coconut sambar we made was delicious too. Everything is cooked over a wood fire using traditional materials like clay pots and spoons made of coconuts. Highly recommend this experience! Everything was vegan so if you’re looking for a vegan cooking class in Sri Lanka, I would definitely suggested contacting Shashi! They offer non-veg options if you like as well. She is very accommodating in terms of what time you want to cook with her too. If you come when it is light out, she will also show you around her garden where many of the vegetables grow! Thank you so much for hosting us <3

We met Shashi while walking in the amazingly beautiful area where she gives her cooking class. She surprised us with her offer for a cooking class. We changed our plans, and joined. We enjoyed the experience very much, where she and her sister were authentically preparing typical Sri Lankan Rice and Curry, and explaining every step. After that we got to eat this wonderful and tasty meal, and finally, she and her husband drove us home as it had become dark in the meantime. It was an unforgettable and very tasty evening!!!

This was my favourite experience in Sri Lanka! A must if you want to learn to make all the amazing food you eat here and carry on with all the flavours home. Great English from a beautiful woman and her sister in law..they make you feel very welcome and allow you to try all the techniques even if you need some practice! She's very handy with a sharp knife and can crack a coconut with ease!! I asked many questions and got all the answers. Knowing I'm helping her family as much as she helped me learn is awsome! Highly recommended esp on a rainy day. Thankyou for the deliciousness!

I had an amazing time at this cooking class that started with a walk in the host's garden. It was cool to see where our food was coming from. We focused on making different kinds of curries, and I learned much about the spices involved. Being able to try each cooking step on our own was a great learning experience. Plus, cooking over an open fire was a nice experience. I left the class feeling really happy and would totally recommend it to anyone who's into cooking or wants to learn something new in the kitchen.

Such a wonderful time cooking together. It took around 2 hours - both cooking and eating and it was a very lovely and special experience. We made together 6 curries ( all veggies grown in the garden - okra , 2 types of beans, obergine, bread fruit ,coconut samba, dahl and papadam. Learned for to cook and enjoyed the meal eating Sri Lankan way - with your hands . In the end there were also some delicious fruits served. Lovely experience - can totally recommend )

My wife and I recently attended a cooking class at Jenus Place and we had an absolutely amazing time! If you're looking to learn the art of Sri Lankan style home cooking this is the place to be. The owner and chef, who is an excellent cook, welcomed us with open arms and made us feel right at home. Her passion for cooking was contagious, and she patiently guided us through each step of the process. We learned so much and felt encouraged to try new techniques. The flavors were authentic and absolutely delicious. Not only was the cooking class exciting, but the overall experience was made even better by the warm and supportive atmosphere. The chef's wife even kindly offered to give us a ride back to our hotel, which was incredibly thoughtful and added an extra touch of hospitality. If you're in Sigiriya and looking for a fun and friendly cooking class, we highly recommend Jenus Place.

I found this place on Google Maps by chance and I’m happy I was able to take a cooking lesson while I was in Sigiriya. Shashi and her sister-in-law are a good team! They teach you how to prepare and cook Sri Lankan dishes from scratch. And the traditional tools and clay pots make a big difference for sure. All the dishes we made were very good. I especially liked the curry with Ambarella. It was interesting to try fresh fruit before cooking and cooked one in the curry, and see the different tastes and textures. I recommend this amazing experience to anyone who’s interested in Sri Lankan village cooking!

We had such a great time with Shashis at Jenus Place. We found her over google maps where we read her wonderful reviews and we can underline all of them. The cooking class with shashi was amazing. She showed us around in her garden were most of the vegetable were coming from, she showed us how to prepare different kind of curries and how to cook them with all the selfmade spices. If you are in sigiriya don’t miss out on this place - it is a must do. The rice and curries were the best we had in Sri Lanka ☺️

We were delighted by the beautiful location and the very authentic kitchen (cooking on the fire in the traditional clay utensils). The owner is very warm-hearted and you can really see and taste the love she puts in her cooking. It was very interesting to learn about the traditional srilankan cooking techniques and the curry was definitively the best we ever ate. If you have the opportunity, we 100% recommand a cooking class with Shashi! (We booked very spontaniusly, the owner was very flexible.)

The best place to try authentic Sri Lankan meal! :) made with your little help. Fresh vegetables straight from Shashi's garden, homemade spices and traditional tools to cook with like clay pots or coconut spoons. All was prepared over a wood fire. Shashi explained every step of the cooking process in English – don't be afraid to ask about anything at all! The food was full of every Sri Lankan's flavours. We had delightful evening and ate so much we barely got home:) Thank you very much for a wonderful experience and delicious dinner!
