One of the best Hostels we been at our Sri lanka Trip so far! Roy is such an incredible nice and lovely person and also all workers there like Sunny are the best. Too sad that we had just two nights in this familiar place. Met so many nice people there and the family dinner at the evening was amazing. We did the Sunrise hike with them and had also a lovely Sunset!

Roy saved our vacation in Sigiriya. We are a family of 5. Roy, he's family, he's employees and he's friends are perfect hosts, They create a friendly tranquil atmosphere with hearty laughter and good Vibes. Roy and he's wife serve really tasty food and drinks. Roy is completing a new elevated restaurant and plan to establish a pool. The sky is the limit for this entreprise - I look forward to following its way forward - I know that Roy will make the world a better place.

I stayed at Roy's villa for 4 nights after friends recommended it and I was so happy I did it. After 4 weeks of travels in Sri Lanka, this was by far the favourite hostel I have stayed in! It's a very special place, great to be based there to explore the surroundings areas while meeting like minded travellers. The place is amazing but what makes it extra special are the people! Roy and his team are so welcoming and always happy to help arranging activities, helping out with any knowledge about the region and their country. This is a true special place with a lot of soul! Would highly highly recommend and I truly loved my time there Thank you Roy and team, what a gem you have built!

I stayed in many hostels the last couple of years, but Roy's Villa was the best experience I ever had! Roy, Sammy and the whole crew are the nicest hosts I ever had! Nothing but love for this hostel!

I am so grateful I started my trip here. I met other backpackers also starting their journey and those relationships were the most valuable throughout the rest of my journey. Totally worth the price for creating a culture of family right off the bat. Amazing hosts.

Roy and his team have created something truly special, we had a wonderful stay. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable and the location is beautiful. But the family atmosphere which Roy has created is what makes this place memorable. Come to see sigirya and then stay an extra day or two to feel at home. And if you can't get a booking come by to eat, the best food and drinks we had in sigirya.

We really appreciated our stay at Roy’s. The place is perfect to meet people in a great atmosphere. When we arrived, dorms were full but thanks to the owner (very nice and flexible), we could still sleep there since he arranged us a private room as dorms. The hostel also offers a large choice of activities.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at, and I strongly believe should be a must-stay for anyone in Sri Lanka, particularly if you’re thinking of checking out Sigirya. The hostel is perfectly clean and comfortable, the vibes are amazing and friendly, the staff are amazing and the activities on offer and second to none. Family dinner is delicious and the perfect way to meet people and plan your days, and I really cannot recommend Roy’s Villa enough!!

What a wonderful little paradise in an beautiful corner of Sri Lanka! Roy and his staff treat you like family, organize everything for you and make guests feel like home. I had the best time, met lovely people and experienced the best of Sigiriya. They offer different trips to lions rock, safaris, temple tours etc, as well as great food and cooking classes. It’s a hidden gem, bedded in rice fields and the whole place is super well set up. Loved everything, keep up the great work!

Great hostel with a modern yet cozy and traditional vibe. Truly feel you are part of nature with the wooden details rice fields and wild peacocks as landscape. Family dinners are amazing, not only food is delicious but you get to know and mingle with all guests. Breakfast and lunch are also great, with local and familiar flavors. Roy helps you organize your itinerary and even transportation for your next stop.

Very expensive compared to rest of Sri Lanka. Its far from everything, which means you have to eat at the hostel restaurant. Restaurant prices range 5 - 8$ for a meal and 1,50 - 6$ for drinks. Staff is exceptional, everything is beautiful and clean. Some Activities like Cooking class or going to the lake are for free. The place is surrounded by beautiful nature but that means there are loads of Mosquitoes. Not a real Hostelvibe more like a Hotel/Resort. Still had a good time there.

Such a nice hostel! We had a great few days here with Roy organising all kinds of stuff like going to the lions rock and arranging guides for the elephant safari. All the staff treats you as their friends and we felt very welcome. Definitely recommend this place !

An incredible, welcoming and comfortable hostel! The dorm was like having your own private wee nook and the bed was big and comfy - there was hot water and AC also, luxury!! All of the staff create such a nice environment for all guests and super helpful with booking you activities or just making you a coffee to chill in the hammock with! The family dinners each night are super delicious and such a nice way to meet everyone!! I would 100% recommend staying here!

An amazing experience. The owner and staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and cater to anything you need. From the amazing communal meals to the organised activities this place has everything you need for your stay in the area. The facilities are modern and the upstairs communal area over looks the rice fields for a beautiful setting.

Amazing stay at Roy’s. Ive been travelling round staying in hostels for many years and this is one of the best. Family run, great people. Alittle more expensive but a very fair price and definitely worth it. Perfect location and best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka yet. Roy is also very involved in the community and has multiple charitable initiatives for the local . All round big 5 star

The best hostel I stayed in in Sri Lanka by a mile! The dorm rooms are spacious and cleaned daily with a big bed. Roy and all of staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and always available to assist. Roy helped plan onward travel and the best routes to take for all the guests staying there, as well as planning each day whilst in Sigiriya to make sure we saw everything whilst there. Dinner is eaten together every evening making it a great place to meet other travellers and creates a real community feel. I stayed for 4 nights and the food was not only great every time but also varied and the best local food I’ve had in my whole 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. We were given a lift to the bus stop on our final day and even given a sandwich for our travels for the long trip ahead. Loved every minute of staying here and could not recommend enough.

Roy and his crew are just a great bunch of people! They do care so much about their guests and make sure they have just an awesome stay! The place itself is also amazing! I usually don’t go back to where I’ve stayed before but am already considering to return. Probably the best hostel I have ever stayed at! :)

This place won best small hostel in the world recently and after staying there I totally see why. You really are treated like family. Roy and the staff are so friendly and helpful, there's plenty of excursions to do (especially pidurangala rock), the cooking classes are fun, the beds are extra comfy, and the common area is great. Couldn't recommend this hostel enough!

Staying at Roy’s was an excellent experience. The hostel is located in the countryside and it is a lovely, peaceful area. Roy and his family are so accommodating and welcoming and gave us so many tips and lots of advice for travelling Sri Lanka. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The food at Roy’s was amazing! He does a cookery class which is lots of fun and very informative. The dorms were very comfy and clean and the beds are a small double so very spacious and private with aircon in the rooms. I cannot recommend this hostel enough - you should definitely spend a night or two here!

Roy’s hostel and the mane himself live up to the reputation! From the layout of the rooms and the hostel, everything is done with every little thing thought about. We went as a group of 5 and it was just us there which meant for a very personal experience with Roy and his amazing family. Best hostel experience ever! There is just a family feeling here, and you meet a lot of other travellers. Furthermore Roy is a legend! He arranges everything for you from food to activities. 100000% recommend it!

One of my absolute favourite places in Sri Lanka! Roy is amazing, he helps you a lot with anything he cans. The hostel is super clean, food is superb and just a great place to chill and discover Sigiriya. I am not a fan of sharing a room but his set up of the rooms gives you a very private feeling. You feel that he cares a lot about his hostel. He is also building private rooms now, so also sth for people who are not into sharing rooms ;)

Roy brings the words friendly & service to the next level! We had a lovely stay at this place. The rooms and beds were the most comfortable ones on our trip by far. The whole place creates a real family atmosphere and you can either relax or take part in one of the activities Roy is offering for very reasonable prices.

I am not writing reviews most of the time but this hostel deserves the best. Roy and his family are amazing with a capital A. I had the best time staying with them. It will be hard to beat this hostel which actually was an INCREDIBLE HOTEL! Roy runs the hostel and has his family helping with everything, they are all wonderful people, very kind and friendly! They did EVERYTHING for us! A perfect village, rooms with huge beds and everything impeccable, hotel breakfast, delicious meals, an indescribable vibe, they took us everywhere with the greatest patience in the world! I felt at home with Roy's family! If you go to Sigiriya, you already know where to stay!

In one month of travel in Sri Lanka, this was hands down the best hostel I have been. If you are looking for an authentic experience of the surrounding of Sigiriya and not just a place to sleep, you are in for a treat. The place is really comfy, Roy is managing everything with great care and the atmosphere is excellent. The dinner every night really make you feel at home, you will assuredly meet a lot of nice people to go see the sunset/sunrise, enjoy some hikes and share stories about your travel around a few drinks.
