Skull Rock

Tourist attraction Landmark

👍👍 One of the best trail in west LA area, it’s clean with limited parking spot. If you start from palisades Almost one mile to skull rock and 3 miles almost to the end of trail, that’s not a hard trail and should be good for kids. Dog are not allowed there and it’s not good for biking. People often mention trail, hike,

Super cool rock formation that you can climb around. It is right off the main Temescal Canyon Trail, and the easiest access to it is from the Split Rock Trailhead just north of here. It is a fun sight when you recognize the skull, however it isn't necessarily that obvious to see. It is definitely worth the hike and view from here!

It was a nice peaceful trail to explore. Unfortunately I couldn't see the silhouette of the skull due to branches and trees covering it. The view of the ocean was amazing and when we visit the waterfall unfortunately there was no water due to the lack of rain in Los Angeles. Overall it was a nice peaceful hike. I would rate it moderate due to the inclines walking up to the Skull.

Love this place! Found a different route up via Temescal Ridge Trail Entrance. Parking is free. It took me about 20 min or so to get there. I usually go up Leacock trail off of Bienvenda Ave and Floresta which take me about 45 min I defenitly recommend coming here to watch the sunset bring flashlights

This trail is challenging to me but I’m glad I made it as in a full loop. It is wise to hike counterclockwise as you’ll get more shades when climbing up the mountain. As you start, the woody area made you felt you were in a forest and you’ll get different feeling when you approach to the other side of the mountain.

Beautiful views, from the top of the rock, easy trail not well maintained but a list had a trail mark by Google and the trail. There is not sigh , and not shade,

Second time in Joshua Tree and this area of the park is like a playground. Free range climbing and scrambling over giant smooth boulders and fun little pathways.

Favorite place to hike with my date. I actually gave up this hike once. It was a bit challenging but it was totally worth it.

Temescal hike is fantastic, but the extra leg up to Skull Rock isn't necessarily worth it for the time invested.
