The
90's
Alt-Rock
house
music
caught
my
ear
as
we
stopped
in
at
3
Sons
Brewery
straight
off
the
cruise
ship
in
Fort
Lauderdale.
Christina
"The
Beer
Girl"
immediately
began
cooing
over
the
densely
fruited
Imperial
Smoothie
Sours,
and
I
was
impressed
with
the
several
variants
of
their
Barrel-Aged
Broward
County
Brand
Stout.
Untappd
fans
were
correct
in
giving
this
young
brewery
(founded
in
2019)
an
amazingly
high
average
score
of
4.12.
We
sat
down
for
a
quick
chat
with
Corey,
3
Sons'
founder
and
head
brewer,
over
wood-fired
pizza
and
wings,
and
some
of
the
best
craft
beer
in
Florida.
A
humble
man,
Corey
explained
how
he
developed
as
a
brewer.
He
first
honed
his
pallet
as
a
homebrewer
for
many
years,
then
started
hitting
up
bottle
shares
and
quickly
received
a
special
invite
to
pour
at
large
beer
festivals
where
he
won
"Best
Beer"
and
"Best
Brewery"
awards
among
others.
When
asked
about
what
brewing
secrets
he'd
developed,
he
said
that
balancing
flavors,
selecting
the
right
ingredients,
and
having
a
keen
pallet
made
all
the
difference.
A
family
brewery,
3
Sons
was
named
both
for
Corey's
3
sons
and
because
he
built
the
high-ceilinged
energetic
spot
with
his
dad.
Some
of
the
unique
flavor
aspects
they
built
into
their
brewery
include
a
slow-pour
tap
and
a
wood-fired
menu.
The
pizza
was
the
best
we'd
had
at
a
restaurant
in
a
long
time,
with
fresh
dough
made
daily
and
tons
of
pepperoni.
Christina's
favorite
beers
were:
-
Green
Gorilla
Hazy
Triple
IPA
with
hints
of
Juicy
Fruit
gum.
-
Forever
Stoned
Pastry
Sour
with
accents
of
apricot
cinnamon
s'mores.
-
Hollow
Grounds
Hazelnut
Imperial
Brown
with
deep
nuttiness.
Overall
Score:
5
Stars!
A
"must-stop"
when
you
get
down
to
Fort
Lauderdale.
At
less
than
a
mile
from
the
airport,
there's
no
reason
not
to
stop
by.
