one of the oldest markets in Tanzania, and just like any local market, its bustling, colorful. We got a rare opportunity to work with the city council to photograph the area, and got VIP access to the roof, where access is restricted. it was such an honor. It gets pretty hectic during the day, parking is a no no, so best walk there.

Kariakoo market. Kariakoo is derived from British word "Carrier Corps".. It's a big market where you can get everything and anything for a cheap and affordable prices. It's a market where it's very crowded. There's a good security but you've to be careful with your own stuffs, alot of pick pockets. I love this place, I have been shopping here for years.

You can find tons of stuff here, from fresh avocados to dried spices of all kinds. It is a bit cramped like everything in Far es Salaam but overall there's a casual and friendly atmosphere. Be careful with what the sellers ask for and try to bargain a bit. In my case I noticed that the sellers offered me identical prices as did for the locals.

It is the biggest, most busiest and crowded market in Dar Es Salaam. It is also considered as a historic site since it has been there for ages. It offers everything you need and i mean anything.

A busty market place full of merchandise. this is one market that is visited by buyers from all over Africa. All in search of reasonably priced merchandise. The place is highly populated with people selling and buying. The green market forms the core of his business hub who plenty and huge range of greens and vegetables. The streets are lined with stalls stocking literally EVERYTHNG. Ranging from hardware, clothing, cosmetics, auto parts, textile and ceramics. The items are cheaply priced making Kariakoo the market where people order stuff for resale. The market has a countless number of beuraeu De change outlets. You are better of changing your moneys during the day as the rate has a sharp drop so the sunset! when you are here make sure your valuables are well secured and DON'T TRUST anyone on face value. The place has a wide range of hotels and night spots. Tropical Hotel is well known for protecting its clients from the hookers. Kariakoo is also largely patronized by people from Zambia and Malawi coming to collect second hand motor vehicles. After dawn most streets are opened to street restaurants serving different foods, mainly local cuisines. Interesting place visit.

Most of thing here are sold at reasonable price. It is always crowded. It is the largest market in Tanzania with variety of good staffs. But one must be careful as there are below standard products that are also sold here. Its wise to take care of your belongings everytime you are at this place beacause there are thieves and pick pocketers. But its okay to shop here

This is the biggest market in the country thus everything is found there and well the crowd too! Handle your properties well, dont argue with strangers and survey first before shopping. Prices are wholesale but retail services are also available.

Kariakoo is one of the oldest market places in the country, the word Kariakoo comes from the mispronounced words 'CARRY AND GO'. It's a market place that has everything you may need for home use and more. From food, furniture, electronics, agro products, textile, motorcycles and spare parts to financial services. I remember coming here since when I was the youngest I could remember. Traders from the rest of the cities come here to buy their whole sale products. Kariakoo can also be a disturbing place if you do not like crowds, walking around can be a very disappointing activity and parking is always a headache here unless it's a Sunday, maybe.

The market is located in the heart of Daresalaam and you will find cheap quality goods here ranging from Fashion, Hardware, Auto parts and IT Products. You will need to have an Interpreter with you if you don't speak Swahili because 98% of people use Swahili. Most seller's may usually inflate prices if they notice you don't speak Swahili. Generally people here are friendly and very few records of theft.

Many commodities ,goods ,items & products are found there at low cost

  • 3/5 benjamin s. 3 years ago on Google
The market is well arranged in such a that separates business according to the type of commodities. For example there is a place for hardwares, mobile phones and their accessories, cosmetics, clothes, agricultural products and so many more. Also congestion of people is well managed due to expansion and growth of business

Kariakoo. It's the heart of Dar es Salaam. Any items required it's found here. Although you should negotiate as some prices are not right. But if you get the right road..like agrey mchikichi sikuku..then you would get what you want from car aceesesories to household items to food.. you cannot miss getting anything at kariakoo and its markets
