Mother Kali's Dham Shyama Kali temple is built on the pyre in Darbhanga. A large number of devotees visit here and all Manglik works are also done. This temple is known as Shyama Mai's temple. Shyama Mai's temple is built on the pyre of Maharaja Rameshwar Singh at the crematorium Ghat and is an unusual occurrence in itself. Maharaja Rameshwar Singh was one of the seeker kings of the Darbhanga royal family. Due to the name of the king, this temple is known as Rameshwari Shyama Mai. The temple was founded by Maharaj Kameshwar Singh of Darbhanga in 1933. In the sanctum sanctorum, a huge statue of Maa Kali is installed on the right side of Mahakal and Ganapati and Batukabhairava Dev on the left. The Mund Mala around the neck of the mother has the equivalent of the letters of the Hindi alphabet. Devotees believe that this is because the Hindi alphabet is a symbol of creation. Aarti held in the temple has special significance. Devotees who come here wait for hours to join the temple aarti. During Navratri, the number of devotees increases and a fair is held here. The statue of mother was brought from Paris - Historians say that this statue came from Paris. Visiting the feet of Mother Shyama Kali fulfills every wish of the devotees. On the part of the mother, there is a delectable Raktim or yellow cloth. This idol of Maa Kali is of four arms. The right hand always blesses the visiting refugees. The entire temple complex is always in a bustling mood and the atmosphere is vibrant with Jai Shyama Mai's Jayghosh.

Shree Shyam Mai Mandir Darbhanga: A Journey Into Divine Beauty and Serenity As I embarked on a spiritual journey to the sacred Shree Shyam Mai Mandir in Darbhanga, Bihar, I felt a profound sense of tranquility and devotion. From the moment I stepped into the temple premises, I was captivated by the exquisite architecture, intricate carvings, and the palpable aura of spirituality. Architecture and Design: The temple's design is a reflection of traditional Indian architecture, showcasing intricate carvings, magnificent pillars, and elaborate domes. The main entrance is adorned with a stunning archway, adorned with intricate floral and geometric patterns. As I entered the temple, I was awestruck by the sheer beauty and attention to detail that had gone into every aspect of its design. Interior Beauty: Upon entering the sanctum sanctorum, I was greeted by the divine presence of Maa Shyam Mai, the presiding deity of the temple. The idol, crafted from pristine white marble, is a sight to behold. The delicate features and serene expression of the deity exuded an aura of peace and tranquility. Devotional Atmosphere: As I stood before the idol, my heart filled with devotion and gratitude. The atmosphere inside the temple was charged with positive energy, and I could feel the presence of countless devotees who had come to seek blessings and offer their prayers. The melodious chanting of mantras and the gentle sound of bells added to the spiritual ambiance, creating an environment conducive to meditation and contemplation. Legends and History: The history of Shree Shyam Mai Mandir is steeped in legends and folklore. It is believed that the idol of Maa Shyam Mai was discovered by a local farmer while he was tilling his field. Upon touching the idol, he was blessed with miraculous healing from a chronic illness. This event led to the construction of the temple, which has since become a renowned pilgrimage site attracting devotees from far and wide. Annual Festivals: Throughout the year, the temple hosts several religious festivals and events. The most prominent of these is the annual Durga Puja, which attracts thousands of devotees. During this time, the temple is decorated with colorful lights and adorned with flowers, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere. Local Significance: Beyond its religious importance, Shree Shyam Mai Mandir also holds a special place in the hearts of Darbhanga residents. It is considered a symbol of unity and harmony, bringing people from all walks of life together in prayer and spiritual devotion. The temple has become an integral part of the cultural heritage of the city and a source of pride for the local community. Overall Experience: My visit to Shree Shyam Mai Mandir Darbhanga was an enlightening and uplifting experience. The temple's stunning architecture, divine atmosphere, and rich history left a lasting impression on my mind and soul. It is a place where devotees can seek solace, offer their prayers, and connect with the divine. The temple has become a haven of peace and tranquility, offering a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I highly recommend a visit to this sacred site for anyone seeking a spiritual awakening or a deeper connection with their faith. 🙏

Apart from the main temple, there are other temples of different Goddesses in the premises, like that of Ma Annapurna in the north direction built on the cremation point (chita) of the elder Queen of the King of Darbhanga. The statue here is of white marble, while the other temple in the south-east direction of the main temple is called Tara temple. It is built on the cremation point of King Lakshmeshwar Singh. The temple premises also has a pond to the south, that is said to be made up of the water of seven rivers. On the occasion of Navratra, bali to Ma Shyama is offered from the house of the King of Darbhanga. Apart from this, a special prasada Shyama Bhoga is distributed. jai shyama mai jai jai shyama mai

Jai ma shyama devi. This temple is unique as it has been constructed on the chita (cremation spot) of the King of Darbhanga, Rameshwar Singh. In fact the whole temple campus is the cremation ground of the royal family with several other temples too alongwith the main Ma Shyama temple. This red coloured beautiful structure was built by Kameshwar Singh, son of Rameshwar Singh in 1933 AD. Situated near the campus of Lalit Narayana Mithila University, the sanctum of the main temple has an idol of Goddess Ma Shyama, or Ma Kali, a form of Shakti. This black colour idol placed just above the chita of Rameshwar Singh, shows the Goddess standing atop the lying idol of Lord Shiva. Here Lord Shiva is in the form of Sadashiva, lying under her feet calmly. This form of Ma Shyama has kept nag as the sacred thread, janeu on her body. There is a logic behind the placement of idols. The sanctum has two idols of Lord Shiva, one in the lying calm (saumya) form of Sadashiva under the feet of Ma Shyama and another in the standing (raudra) form of Mahakal to the right of Ma Shyama. Kartik and Ganesha are placed just in front of the raudra form to soothe his anger. The sanctum also has God Shaligram (a form of Lord Vishnu) and is worshipped every morning.

It is a temple of goddess Shayama. It was built by king of Darbhanga Maharaja Kameshwar . Here is a group of temple including Annapurna, and Mahadeva. The best time to go here is in morning and at evening.... Generally it is a little bit crowded coz of people's faith in the goddess.... It is believed that Maa Shayama grants all wishes of the devotees here. U can go for boating here in the lake of temple premise. While travelling to Darbhanga visiting this place should be in ur bucket list.....

Great Ambience. The campus is super clean. Moreover, there is a boat service in the pond centring the premises of this temple what you can use by booking it at a nominal fee. There is Shyama bhog ghee laddoos service available by the temple trust as prasad. The ignorance of renovation of other temples in the premises is the solo reason why I'm giving this place only 4 stars and not 5.

Everyone from darbhanga probably know about this temple...situated at the centre of attraction of darbhanga surrounded by L.N.M.U. campus , manokamna mandir and many other localities...anyone visiting darbhanga must visit this place ...shayama mandir surrounded with many other temples like shiv mandir, annapurna Mandir etc, now they have started boating facility in the kund as well...this place is good for everyone and you must try nariyal ka laddu from prasad stalls ... every pooja samagri can me found just outside the temple , beware of monkeys though. Overall it's a great place to sit and spend good time.

This temple has constructed on the cremation point of Rameshwar Singh, king of Darbhanga. Puja is performed in Tantrik & vaidik way.People have a great faith on the goddess. There are more temples constructed here on cremation points of royal family. There is a big pound & space in the temple premises for performing Hindu rituals. Built in 1933 , the magnificent temple (Shyama temple) is still visited by a large number of devotees in and around Darbhanga. It is interesting and important to know that this temple is made on the funeral pyre of maharaja of Darbhanga – King Rameshwar Singh.Throughout the year , auspicious works are carried out inside the temple premises. The people may be surprised to hear the story about the construction of this temple. This temple of Kali or Shyama mai as many devotees call it , has been made on the funeral pyre of the great seeker Maharaja Rameshwar Singh.Even today whether its the month of winter , many people feel the heat of the funeral pyre of seeker Maharaja Rameshwar Singh located in the southern direction inside the temple. People in the region believe that there is no such a large statue of goddess Kali in India other than this place. The last king of Darbhanga Maharaja Kameshwar Singh had established this giant statue and the temple in 1933. The statue of Mahakal is on the right side and the statues of Lord Ganesha and Batuk is on in left side of the main statue. There is a great special importance of the Aarti .When lamps are being offered at the aarti , songs are also sung in praise of the deity. It is considered that the people who participate in the aarti of Shyama mai , all the darkness or negativities goes away from his life and his/her wishes are fulfilled by Goddess Kali.At the place where devotees make prayers one can see tantrik yatras on the wall – the Sun , the moon planet and constellation this is because the worship of goddess Shyama is done with both tantrik and vedic methods . According to Hindu beliefs a person should not go to cremation ground till one year after his marriage .But the new couples at Darbhanga go to this temple for getting the wishes from Maa Kali.Even marriages take place at this temple situated on the creation ground.

A very old temple dates back to 1933. If one wants to find calmness and tranquility, it is the place. Though I went at a time when the main mandir was closed. But the environment is so serene. There is a pond where people were boating. The cool breeze was enough to soothe my mind. An open resting place is available there. But there were some local random boys who were clicking pictures everywhere. That was the only disgusting thing that happened.
