Beautiful view of sunrise better than the crowded Tiger Hill I suppose.. we could see the lights falling on kanchenjunga and changing the colour of the mountain. From the 1st ray hitting the tip of Kanchenjunga to the full mountain being lit up we had a wonderful view. It was very less crowded and some locals worshipping the sun. It was a lifetime experience. I am sharing here the mobile photographs only.

If I have to rank places to visit in Darjeeling I will always rank this as No 1. The beautiful expanse of the snow fed mountains is like a dream. Trust me one is not required to go to Tiger hill at 4 am unless otherwise someone have to take a picture of sunrise. This observatory is good enough to enjoy the view of Kanchenjunga all through the day when the skies are clear. I can sit and spend the whole day sitting here as the canvas keeps changing as the moving clouds play hide and seek with the sun. No entry fees to a was this site. From here the mall road is about - 150 metres walk

One of the best location to enjoy the sunrise view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. At present observatory is under construction. Still you can get the best glimpse from here.

Awesome view of the entire Himalayan mountain range. Such a quiet environment with natural scenic beauty, that you can sit the entire day admiring the beauty of nature & doing nothing. Enjoy sipping tea/coffee, papad being prepared by locals in the cold weather.

Welcome to the captivating Observatory Hill View Point in Darjeeling! This enchanting spot offers a panoramic vista that will leave you spellbound. As you gaze upon the horizon, the majestic peaks of the Himalayas stand tall, cloaked in mist and mystery. The serenity of the surroundings creates a serene ambiance, perfect for contemplation and reflection. Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking solace in the beauty of the mountains, this viewpoint offers an awe-inspiring experience. Let the tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking views transport you to a world where time stands still and the grandeur of nature takes center stage.Probably the best and most peaceful place to sit back and relax and have a look at the magnificent Kanchenjunga range of mountains. It is just a 5 min walk away from the main Mall road square. The view is enchanting and uninterrupted. Most of us living in cities have rarely have the luck to look at an uninterrupted view of our surrounding and to look the the horizon which only ends at the view of the mountains. You can get some really good coffee here at Rs.25 per cup. Public use gymnasium structures are built here on the pavement like pull up bars, parallel bars, a tire for flipping and loops for push ups, etc. This is an ideal place to relax in the early morning while a morning walk or a quick workout.

The USP is being the second highest point in WB to witness the play of sunlight on the Sleeping Buddha range at sunrise. On clear days peak of the Everest mountain is also visible from here. Booking of car is to be done in advance for necessary permit for visiting this place at early morning.

The is the most beautiful place in Mall area. If the weather is clear, you can view the mighty kanchanjungha very closely from here. You can pass your time just by sitting in the bench there.

Observatory Hill View Point, also known as "Makal-babu-ko-phatak" in local language, is a popular tourist spot for tourists and locals alike to view the sunrise and sunset in Darjeeling. The viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the entire Darjeeling town and the surrounding Himalayan mountain ranges. It is situated at an altitude of 2,134 meters above sea level. This Viewpoint is a must-visit spot for all tourists visiting Darjeeling. It is open to visitors all year round, but the best time to visit is during the months of April to June, when the weather is clear and the views are at their best. You can sit on a bench and enjoy a cup of tea from the tea shops located near the viewpoint

A place to enjoy the beauty of Kanchenjungha. I do not mind even though I did not get the Kanchenjungha view - the rain drenched and foggy streets, the beautiful nature filled me with eaternal joy. Walked, rested for quite some time - Loved the experience.

It's a beautiful place if you can visit this place mostly in the morning. One can get a picturesque sight of Kanchunjangha peak very clearly... During the evening if you decide to visit then be ready to get a lot of people gathered there...

The timeless beauty of Kanchenjunga, the oak and pine trees, the sloping hills - it is a travellers dream. Of course, there is some crowd & it is quite natural. In spite of that the a visit is very rewarding.

One of the best place to view Mount Kanchendzonga and sleeping Buddha range under suitable weather condition. View of the city from here is also great.

This view point is a lovely place from where you can get one of the best views if you are in Darjeeling. The beautiful mountains will give your eyes real pleasure if you are fortunate enough to be there on a sunny day. Most of the time it is crowded with tourists. It is at a walkable distance from Chawrasta.

Observatory hill is situated at one end of the Mall of Darjeeling, lovingly called the Queen of the Hills. The Observatory hill is famous for some up-end hotels and some good view points, but the most important spot there is a temple complex, the most popular of which is the Mahakal temple which is a superb example of religious harmony. There are two paths to climb the Observatory Hill - one is a lengthier motorable road on the northern side of the hill, the other a shorter but rather steep path for the pedestrians on the eastern side of the hill. The temples: 1. Mahakal temple : As told above, this is the most important temple here, dedicated to Lord Mahakal (a manifestation of Lord Shiva) as well as a manifestation of Lord Buddha. In the sanctum there is the deity Mahakal, three brass covered Lingam representing Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar, and a statue of Lord Buddha. Interestingly, there are two sets of priests, one Hindu and the other Buddhist, and it is a custom to be followed by the devotees to offer Puja to Lord Buddha first. There are colourful flags all over the place, and the Buddhist Prayer Wheel. In front of the temple, there is a statue of Mandi the Bull, the Vahana of Lord Shiva. 2. Ganesha temple : There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha just in front of the main temple. 3. Durga temple. 4. Mahakali temple. 5. Kirateshwar Shiva temple. 6. Mahakal cave which is the abode of "Saat Kanya" (Seven Daughters - actually Sapta Matrika or Seven Mothers) and Mahakal Shiva. 7. A temple dedicated to Sai Baba. 8. A temple dedicated to Lord Hanumana. The hill offers some beautiful view points from where excellent views of the surrounding and the majestic Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest peak in the world. In fact, the Kanchenjunga range is dubbed "The Sleeping Buddha", as the range extending from Mount Kabru South to Mount Pandim looks like as if a huge man is reclining in the supine position.

The tea plants in December weren't visible and the place was very crowded. However the view was excellent and if you happen to go on a non-cloudy day then you'll be lucky enough to see Mt. Kunchenjunga from here. There are many stalls to purchase Darjeeling tea over here at low costs. However, in terms of tea gardens it's best to visit the offbeat locations (Eg. Singhmari) rather than here.

People mention a lot of places that provide a gorgeous view of the Kanchenjunga. I have seen many of them but nothing beats the view from here on a clear day. Also, a delightful walk.
