A good restaurant in Darjeeling for Bengali food. But the waiting time is a bit longer. It was very crowded. Food tests between 8 out of 10. In a good location. You can visit once for Bengali style food. I ate there 5-6 times during my one month stay in Darjeeling. Once in a while the quality of food was very poor. So I gave the overall rating.

We decided to parcel a fish thaili from here seeing the crowd. They not only charged rs 20/- extra for packaging, also delivered stale food. Fish was of poor quality, one mix veg item was stale and sour. Rice they provided was not even sufficient for a child. There were many people sitting and was having food and they didn't complain. My question is was they delivered poor quantity & stale food just because of take away?? Highly Dissatisfied & disappointed.

Wonderful food with rich bengali taste. The presentation is really appetizing with an enticing meal for your tummy. Rates are reasonable at this quantity and level of service. Mr. Dutta at the counter is always ready to greet you and answer all your queries happily. Stay here, the rooms are great. Sadly, no parking for car owners.

Pros : quick service , tasty food , very affordable. Cons: 1)extremely bad behaving staff. All the young lads are employed there who have not been trained how to be professional , they will order you to sit there and not here very rudely , they will tell you things like keep two chairs free for another family to adjust, and sit on one side so that i don't have to clean whole of the table It seems like they have been told this restaurant is veteran old and you can be haughty about it and behave whatever you like with the customers. 2) plates are dirty

Worst experience. Even I am not willing to give a star itself. We ordered Bengali thalies of fish , mutton and egg. Unhygienic plates, no cleanliness and on top of that worst, rotten food came up. We were not able to eat even 20 percentage. In evening my wife and baby ended up in severe illness.7-8 times vomiting and stomachache. Darjeeling pharmacy saved us for the night and next days. While I asked for a cause next day I found out several others complaining the same. But the owner was like a goon and just didn't speak to us even and said may be the meat was old for 3-4 days !!!!!! This is how they treat with tourists or guests.NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE.

I can't give less than 1 star. If it would be possible then I would prefer to give it not a single star. Most third class food I have ever eaten. Don't trust the food bloggers. They only do paid reviews.

Bengali cuisine is available.. Food quality and quantity is good enough... If someone is fond of bengali cuisine they must visit.. They have a variety of thali options..

Went to Mahakal restaurant for dinner.... food is good and quantity is sufficient... Mutton Thali: 5/5 pieces were good! Mutton Do Pyaza: 4/5 bit spicy Chicken Hot & Sour Soup: 4/5 Chicken Bharta: 4/5

The food quality was horrible, the rice was not boiled properly. The fish is not fresh and taste wise also not upto the mark. We expected to have a good Bengali food at Darjeeling but it turn out to be horrible and fall sick, so will not suggest to have Bengali food here. Even the service is also disappointed.

We only availed restaurant. Bengali food was really good. Staff behavior was nice. They even served food after 11 pm. Overall quite good experience.

During peak session the restaurant is packed, it is most popular to Kolkata bengali's. Menu was generous, most tasted good though there was rush. Location its just beside Mall road on the street, but no sights from this restaurant, though it provided rooms those might have views but not sure. If looking for a quite place this is not it. But worth a try..

Bongs do arrive here as they provide the best thali in Darjeeling, best in terms of quality & quantity in comparison to others.. Mind it , a long queue before you reach your table ( waiting 30min-1hr ) and further waiting for food to arrive after order(10- 25min ). But if you're hungry then you might be disappointed by the waiting time, matter of fact it's worth waiting. Service fast and prompt Dine in and takeaway available. Don't miss this place. Can be visited once.. Not really satisfied with the price.. Actually over priced. Rice provided with the thali is not even sufficient for a kid. In a veg thali or chicken thali you will be provided with a number of items. But you have to take extra rice to finish your dishes. And they will charge extra for every single time. Taste and quality of the food is average.. Services are also not that well..

Hotel is basic type, standard clean rooms with geyser and kettle available for heating. They have restaurant below which is good. Room service is okay not that great. While, location is good at club stand near Chaurasia road. As, it's at the club stand, u will find vehicles for to and fro travel and can also request incase have personal car for parking though depends on availability as it's an issue in Darjeeling.

We ordered two veg thali and 1 egg thali. The food was not good. Rice were not cooked well. The plate they are serving are so small and chutney was disgusting. People and standing in line for this food, we went there because of different youtubers reviews. It seems that they were paid.

This restaurant is overrated. Visited 2-3 times. 1st visit was in 2015. Only outer structure changed & expanded. Food quality not changed so much. People who eat pizza, burger, junk items frequently may like foods of this restaurant. But those who eat 'Bangali' food daily at home , may not like this. They have a common base material for every curry, just adds few spices to prepare different items. To summarise, food quality: average.

Food is undoubtedly good and highly affordable. But due to inadequate space there is a only a single corridor for entrance, restroom, even for waiter to bring food. If you're looking for bengali cuisines at an affordable price near Mall, it is highly recommended, but if you're concerned about the sanctity of the place, then probably it's not the best option.

The best place to have a Bengali food if you are in Darjeeling. Neat and clean,tasty and the portions are sufficient enough. The biggest upside is the price. You won't feel you are eating at a tourist spot.

Food quantity and available options are good. But tastewise it's not up to the mark. Rice quantity and quality was good. But Daal was tasteless. Mix veg was too much spicy. Chicken was good. Chatni was also too much sweet. They served Payes, being a Bengali I liked this concept most.

Excellent food and the amount of the food is very satisfactory. The prices are also compared cheaper than others. People are willing to take long queue for the food during lunch and dinner. And also at breakfast

It was a lovely experience to have food here especially the bengali quisinne and even the service was awesome. Mr. Rahul and service boy Aamir was excellent who assist us brilliantly all the time while having food. I would like to request all the visitors to visit this restaurant all the time to experience their lovely food and exceptional service.

Very near to Mall, just 5 to 8 minutes walk distance. Your car will drop you at doorstep of this hotel. Family rooms are neat and clean. Nice view.

Seeing the queue outside the restaurant i thought of exploring the food of this restaurant, but totally disappointed, stale food was given in a plate which was holding the pieces of food from previous customers, it was not hygienic at all, no taste. But seeing the bill I was surprised,they are charging premium amount for such low quality unhygienic food. Not worthy at all.

We gone there after viewing many Google reviews but sorry to say we were dissatisfied with the food quality. Many more people were taking their foods but as I asked some people they were also not satisfied with the taste of the food. May be it was one of the best options there still I can't suggest people to take their food there. Prices are reasonable but it only matters when the quality and taste is upto the mark, but sorry to say that wasn't.

This place is located near Mall Road in Darjeeling. Despite it being crowded most of the time, they manage the crowd well. We ordered a fish thali, roti, and tarka, which cost around Rs. 400. The taste was decent, nothing extraordinary. We did not stay there we just experience the food of the reastaurant.

Moderate prices, plenty of seating capacity, but waiting time is long somewhat because of crowd. Otherwise clean and hygienic food. Bengali food in speciality. Must try Chicken Biriyani, loved that.

There was a huge queue outside. So, we thought the food must be good. But it turns out the queue was because that’s the only local restaurant open during holiday. It was so disappointing. Meat was so tough and not chewable. So, disappointing. None of the food items were tasty.

Had fish thali and chicken thali. Both were average and costs less than 200. Bengali food good in taste. Not good washroom and hygiene. Seating is average. Try the gulab jamun there. Excellent taste.
