Over the years, I have come to love the East End beach. Bigger and much cleaner than it was when I was a kid. Quiet, no crowds, good fishing and stunning views of the mouth of Mobile Bay. Update 7/1/2022: new parking area opened up a few weeks ago. Very nice!

We went on a Friday afternoon. Since it was March it wasn’t too busy. We were on the quest for a dog friendly beach. We took our dog and he had a great time! Leashes are required. There were port a potties in the parking lot that weren’t too bad. No toilet paper but that’s expected. Beautiful area with lots of wildlife. You can hear the ferry come and go.

East End is a small beach under the fort. It's a beautiful little place and we'll maintained. I loved climbing on the rocks as much as my kids did. The views of the marine traffic and oil rigs are cool if you don't mind them taking away from the natural landscape.

Went for a quick day trip to get the kids out of the house. Loved it so much we have now rented a condo for a week for our family vacation before the kids return to school

The West End used to be the spot but since Sand Island is no longer an island and the pier is sand bound, we headed East. The beach is nice but residents and visitors as well as the city needs to put effort into keeping the beaches clean. There is a lot of trash but there is also clean beach. The large rocks are fun to climb on and also give some shelter from the wind for a picnic. The view of the fort is really neat as well and if you choose to check out the estuarium or the ferry you won't be disappointed!

Got here a little after 6 AM on Labor Day to do some fishing. Hadn't scouted it much and found that the nearby spots were mostly jetties and I didn't want to crawl around on those. I also didn't walk towards the western side and fish more on the beach. So I only spent about 20 minutes here with no luck. However, a half dozen or more people were out on the jetties fishing and looked to be doing okay. The beach itself looked nice. They have a little cove built that is cool and likely provides a more casual spot to float on a raft. However, the tide had brought in a fair amount of seaweed. Only complaint is the trash people would just leave on the beach or throw in the jetties. Lots of Monster cans... Okay spot for a sunrise. Would be better, but the beach curves around just enough to the south to not give a great angle. Parking lot is pretty big and there are port-a-potties there.

Cash only, guy says "did you see the sign", like I should have pulled up and read the sign while he waited for me to read it before talking to him. Was extremely inconvenient for my family, as we had to find an atm and then come back. So many options to accept cards or even Venmo in this day and age. So one star due to inconvenient experience. Actual beach was pretty nice, shelly, but super convenient to parking, and a cool little wave pool.

The east side is great for a few reasons. The new parking area definitely made it more desirable, however do NOT walk barefoot in the grass! My granddaughter picked up burs on her feet. They don't actually have bathrooms like the west end but there are porta potties. It's usually less crowded on the east end and sometimes it seems like the fishing is better especially by the jetties. November 80 degree days! Always our Happy Place!

One of my most favorite places to go in Alabama. I love the east end of Dauphin Island. And I'm so excited to see that they have added more parking. The parking use to be a nightmare on the East End. Now, more people can come and enjoy my favorite chill spot. It was absolutely gorgeous!

So glad we followed the car around the bend! What a sweet little find. Great parking. Beautiful place to play in the warm Gulf water and watch the sunset. Clean beach!

Stunningly beautiful!! I've seen 2 weddings take place here and was blown away by how perfect it looked! Pets are allowed... please bring your own bags, tho. Ample parking and great food truck is there in the summer 🌞 ENJOY!

Even though it was a chilly and blustery morning in October, I would rather be no where else enjoying my first cup of coffee.
