We had a lovely experience when visiting Grist last night for dinner. A foodie’s dream come true. My husband had the risotto while I had the butternut squash stuffed Agnolotti. Easily the best pasta we had ever had. The flavors were well balanced yet bold and sometimes unexpected and pasta cooked perfectly Al dente. We started with the focaccia bread with butter, flaky sea salt, and a rich olive oil, which our two year old eagerly enjoyed along with us. The service was quick and servers very kind. The owners have an impressive resume working in Michelin-star restaurants and world renowned bakeries which is reflected in the proficiency experienced here. We noticed quickly that the staff were eager and attentive to make sure we found everything appetizing and up to standard. As it was. Quality experience! New favorite in Dayton area!

Fantastic place for fresh, handmade pasta! Personal faves were the porcini rigatoni and the Tortelli zucca! The whole staff was super friendly as well. Great price and will be coming back again soon since the menu frequently changes 😊

I will always love Grist. Fresh food, friendly service and unique flavors. Not too unique so that they scare you away though. Such a cozy little sandwich and soup spot in downtown Dayton.

Best sandwich 🥪 Seriously cute place, delicious looking desserts that I had no room for, you can get bread and fresh made pasta to take home. Will definitely be back, I loved the corn sandwich. My mom got Shroom Raider which was a bit too spicy for her but she liked it.

The menu looks delicious and the desserts are! If presentation is the first thing that draws us toward food, then Grist knocks it out of the park. The location is pleasant and bright, the interior looks beautiful and the staff couldn't be more welcoming. This is the type of place to bring your out of town friends and family for something good and something Dayton.

My favorite place we have been to in Dayton! Everything was incredible, portions are so generous (my husband was very happy about that) and we were so impressed with how much they do in house. Keep it up Grist!!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Heard about their sandwiches and went here for lunch. The place had a nice decor and was clean. The staff were friendly and polite. They had awesome fresh made pastas, bread and some desserts. I got the Bird Degree (4.5/5). The bread was amazing, crunchy and soft at the same time. The filling was nice and colorful. A good sandwich. But I paid $15 for one sandwich and that too during lunch time. I felt it was a tad bit expensive. But the place was great.

The food was interesting and good! We ordered several items to share. The staff was very pleasant and very busy. We were in no hurry, so we enjoyed ourselves. From our first appetizer to our final dish was about 2 hours. I will go back, there is more I want to try!

LarderRoom...Tried a new place today, Grist, in Downtown Dayton, OH. I got a few fancy sandwiches, a salad, and soup! Flavor Explosion! Everything was next level, and well thought out with great flavor profiles. It was busy and we got our food quick. I missed a few things but now that I've been I will get it right the next time. Example, you can ask for a carft of water for your table. And sandwiches come with chips. Never saw any chips? Sandwich 1. It's Poultry in Motion. Honey Roasted Turkey, Roasted Garlic Aioli, Fig & Bacon Jam, Triple Cream Brie, Green Apple & Arugula on fresh Ciabatta! Sandwich 2. The Sicilian. Shaved Mortadella, Shaved Prosciutto, Balsamic Marinated Radicchio, Fig & Bacon Jam, Pistachio Pesto, Smoked Mozzarella on fresh Facaccia!

First time visit. I had the Smoked Duck Lasagne, and WOW! the flavor was amazing! The Roasted Sunchoke Soup was absolutely delightful, and the Tortellini do Zucca was creamy and delicious. Finished off with Tiramisu. You won’t find any finer food in anywhere, and I’ve eaten all over the world. The owner, Casey, is wonderful. Don’t miss this place

If you want fresh pasta this is the place to go! Eating here was a lovely experience. The ordering was all done at the front register but they bring you your food to your table. The food was spectacular. Especially the focaccia! The wine was pretty good as well. I would love to come back again soon! Edited to add: The classes they offer are so fun and informative. We found that it was worth the price. An unforgettable experience!

Had an absolutely AMAZING first experience with friends at Grist. I cannot believe I have slept on this place for the past year. I got the meatball sandwich and it was to die for. The staff and customer service is straight through the roof. Everyone was so nice and we will be coming back a lot more.

Outstanding. Ate here on our way to Cincinnati from Fairborn. Had a chicken sandwich and a steak sandwich, olive oil cake, and a chocolate cookie. Everything was fabulous. Great flavors, fresh, light, prepared well. The restaurant is clean and bright and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. I only wish we lived locally so we could come more often!

An AMAZING experience. I didn’t even know this place existed in Dayton but it’s honestly a gem! The atmosphere is really upscale and modern. Along with pasta, they make sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts. All the food is prepared in a fancy manner and uses really unique, delicious ingredients. I’m a vegetarian and I felt comfortable because they have plenty of really delicious vegetarian options available! I forget the exact name of the sandwich I personally ordered, but it was a popular mushroom sandwich and it was so good. Also, the prices aren’t really expensive, especially considering the amount and quality of food you receive! I believe my big sandwich was close to 9 dollars and it was a VERY quality sandwich that filled me up. I’m really glad I found this place, I’m glad they’re in Dayton, it far exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

About 20 mins or so to get the food, but it was the best meal I'd had in a while. Got the steak sandwich and house lemonade and it was better than most meals I've had - I'll be back

I was at the Dayton Convention Center for a conference, and large groups adjourned for lunch, so the area restaurants were all busy. This little shop handled the crowd much better than I ever would have expected, with a dining room, counter seating, and patio option, as well as take out. At my table the sandwiches included turkey, roast beef, and my "Italian Stallion." All were very good. They come with a bag of chips, and the flavors available are eclectic (black truffle, red wine vinegar, smoked paprika, white cheddar jalapeno, Iberian ham). The sandwiches are around $13-15. They also have pasta, salads, and soup, but none of us tried those. The sandwiches were enjoyed, and I would recommend this eatery with only those options .... But let's talk dessert.... Wow I saw the cannolis, and then I saw the price.... It would be rude not to purchase one. I liked it a lot, crispy pastry with a mousse/whipped filling, yes please. To be honest I don't think I've had one anywhere before, so I can't compare it to other cannolis I've consumed.... But still, the point of dessert is to enjoy it, and I did ... I had eaten next door the day before, and dessert there was $9 each . ... And I realized I could have a second dessert and still be under that price. They had only one piece of tiramisu left... and then they didn't, and I did. So good. Again I have to admit that I've never had that before, but I'm pretty sure I've never had the option at such reasonable prices. I deleted the price I paid for each so they can re evaluate those prices if they wish. Great food in a great space with positive workers and servers. Check it out, or make it a regular stop, I don't think you will regret it. I regret I didn't take pictures at my table.

Dayton’s very best food, no question about it!! We had dinner here tonight and the atmosphere was terrific, but the food was AMAZING! We made reservations AGAIN for our next dinner there for my husband’s upcoming birthday, before we had even left the restaurant!! We loved their rabbit dish, and their meatballs in sauce are superb!! Enjoy a glass of wine and take in the downtown! This experience was unparalleled! Another hidden gem in Dayton!

The vibe in this pace is very welcoming and perfect for a downtown needing updated places with great food. Breads are homemade. Sandwiches are fabulous. Desserts looked amazing. Great service.

Didn't have reservations and there was an event nearby, so there was a wait. But, it was worth it! The menu is not extensive and that's a good thing. The offerings are fresh, homemade and delicious. Even the bread, accompanied by whipped butter with salt freshly sprinkled, was great. The service was good, but it is more of a counter order type of service. Need dessert? Just go back to the counter and order it.

We had such a great experience at Grist before our Candlelight concert at the Dayton Arcade. Service was friendly and quick. We were served and on our way in under an hour including drinks, appetizers and dessert! Everything including the pasta is made fresh and displayed in beautiful deli cases to help you decide what you'd like to order! We tried the Burrata appetizer, Mushroom Rigatoni and the Lobster Risotto with cannoli and a raspberry creme pot for dessert. It was all delicious and we can't wait to return to try more things soon!

Excellent food! I had the Jurassic Pork sandwich at the recommendation of the server, and it was amazing. Unique and delicious touches right down to the lightly fried pickle. I also tried the gazpacho soup and it was equally flavorful and delicious. Looks like they the menu changes often which is a bonus if you are local because you’ll never get bored!

Dayton is beyond lucky to have Grist! Every single thing they serve is of the highest quality! The pasta counter is my absolute favorite! If your looking to cook at home and have a quick top shelf meal, look no further! The only pasta sauces I’ve ever purchased that I would never dream of adding anything to! Absolute perfection! The restaurant has a great vibe & Casey and her staff will make you feel right at home! I’ve been frequenting Grist for almost 3 years and the consistency of the food and service are unmatched! If I could give them 10 stars I would🌟 Ps. The desserts are out of this world🤤

Had dinner with friends. We shared meals and tasted many menu items. So much fun. The staff answered questions and checked on us at all of the right times. Incredible food, creative presentations with great detailed explanations of the recipes. To the chefs, Thank you for sharing your craft and feeding our souls!

Had a late lunch here and it was truly unique for the Dayton area. It's a beautiful sight to have pasta being made fresh in front of your eyes. My food was incredible, the wine selection is carefully curated and terse. Really nothing to complain about at all!

I took the pasta making class and learned a lot about how to stuff and deal pasta. After the class we were served two types of pasta with salad, bread and a desert. Totally recommend a class to enjoy and dining as well. Delicious! I brought home all the pasta that I made, plus a meal and a 2.5 hr class. Worth every penny.
