Really Disappointing. Sadly it did not live up to our expectations. I was treating my mum after some operations and with me coming home from Dubai to take her for a spa day, I was really hoping it would be something special. Sadly it wasn't. First of all, the ladies on reception as we walked in were gossiping and clearly not interested on who was coming in. I gave our names and mentioned that my mum had a broken wrist and I wasn't sure what she could enjoy as a result. The lady just said "oh". She passed us our forms and said she would show us where to go, but instead pointed us in the general direction, saying the changing rooms are up there, spa is down there, treatment rooms are there, etc. We were left suitably confused as to where to go to get changed. We asked someone walking past to confirm and were directed to the gym changing rooms. I tackled the lockers for a while without success and then I went out to try and get help. A kind lady from the spa came to help us and also struggled to sort the combination locks on the lockers. After 10 mins she then realised we were there for the spa day and that we were in fact in the wrong changing rooms. She helped carry our bags and took us to the correct changing rooms. These were so much nicer, with a card for a lock on the locker, which was much easier to use particularly for mum who had just had an operation on her eyes. She also offered mum a complimentary coffee to try and appease us. I went in the gym which is well equipped and then I joined mum for a coffee after. You get a complimentary fruit board, but have to pay for all tea and coffee. I feel that for 139, to include one cup of tea or coffee wouldn't go amiss. The spa itself with the pool and jacuzzi is actually really nice. The facial was also very good with the ladies very experienced and helpful. Lunch was very average and very small. I chose the soup for starter, which was tasty and the waitress brought over 2 of the tiniest pieces of bread (fit for an elf as it is Christmas after all I guess) and the duck for a main. The duck came with a blob of squash and a couple of vegetables. Having seen the people sat next to us receive theirs, they recommended us ordering some sides as it was minimal, so we ordered garlic potato as a side at an additional cost. This was a very small portion of 3 purple potatoes, which looked like they had literally been picked out of the ground and dumped on the plate. Overall, lunch was also disappointing. We spent the rest of our time chilling by the pool, which was nice and we did manage to make the most of our day, as we were thrilled to be with each other after Covid had kept us apart for so long, but I really wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The reception staff were very interested in looking pretty and taking selfies as opposed to ensuring the (over)paying customer had a wonderfully relaxing experience. Such a shame we won't be going back, as Mottram always used to be our go to spa. Don't go here for a treat day, unless you like being ignored. It's a waste of money.

First visit to your spa, I normally go to Woodlands. Used a voucher that my children got me and put the rest too for myself and husband for a day spa. First impressions, really good. However my reservation for the restaurant was cancelled, I asked why and apparently it was cancelled early that morning but nobody knew why. I was then given an earlier slot! my lunch was inedible. I am a vegetarian and don't like the taste of meat, however only option on the menu was a fake bacon thing, not even sure what it was, but it tasted of bacon so my husband ate it. It's not good that you assume that people who don't eat meat still like the taste! Thought I'd then go and relax outside, but despite you having a sign saying the beds can't be reserved, 13 of them were! Went home early! Woodlands for me next time!

We booked a padel court. However, the surface is not a padel surface it’s just cheap plastic, the walls are short and wobbling. For some reason they called it padel court. The staff can’t be more unprofessional. Especially the manager or the person who claim that he is the manager. It’s a scam DON’T GO THERE.

Very disappointing experience at the spa. We were greeted by a man at the reception whose first sentence to us was direct quote “what are you doing here?”. When we told him we have a reservation for spa, he didn’t attempt to find a reservation on his system and simply walked away leaving us very confused. He came back after few minutes and asked us to show the email confirmation. After that he asked us “what do you need” referring to the robe, flip flops etc. it was probably the worst welcome experience I ever had at any spa or hotel. We were never offered a welcome snack and/or lunch we were included in our package. We had to ask for these things and again no one was quite sure what’s going. The reception lady had to message and call her supervisor. In the end we never received lunch and waited 30 minutes to get a “healthy” snack (as stated on their website) which was a ham and cheese toasty. The service at the bar is again absolutely shocking. At one point the only serving guy who worked behind the bar walked away (after we have waited 20 minutes for our “healthy” snack) and his colleague announced that he needs to take a break as “it all Got too much for him” and the bar service will resume in the next 10 minutes …. Our toasty was ready but he just left it behind the bar and walked off. As regards to the spa itself it was extremely overcrowded. We couldn’t find a single empty lounger. 2 out of 3 saunas weren’t working resulting in the working sauna being packed. We never managed to use an outdoor heated pool because it was extremely busy at all times. Overall hugely disappointing experience and absolutely not worth the money.

I have recently reached the grand old age of 80 and my relatives sent me a £350 voucher for Mottram Hall. I live in Stockport and I thought of visiting Mottram Hall and getting some good information what I can get for £350. As I don't drive I went by train to Prestbury and walked the rest of the way, I wasn't prepared for a pedestrian unfriendly road, I walked across various fields for part of the way, it think it was 2M. As I reached the Hall they couldn't really help me. I don't think it was their fault, I believe you are all totally paperless and being oldfashioned I was hoping to get something in print. So, I didn't really get much information but was given the Central Reservation telephone number to call them when I have decided what to book. I was told that the prices vary a lot from day to day. So, I walked back to Prestbury station and caught the train back to Stockport. Michelle Helps from Stockport

Me and my parnter stayed here for a night and was very pleased with our experince. Lovely spa and very well presented. Our highlight though was at dinner when we met Jason the host. He went above and beyond to make our evening special. He was well presented and genuinely a lovely genuine person and made our night. Mottram hall are lucky to have him and we wish him the best.

Me and my partner booked a Spa Day Package at Mottram hall, and whilst the Spa and facilities are nicely decorated the day was a huge disappointment. When we arrived just after 9am we found the main pool was closed, and it did not open until 2pm. This was the first let down, as the day went on and it got busier it became apparent that there were too many people for loungers. The staff were removing people's belongings from loungers and some people had nowhere to sit. Lunch was very small, and unimpressive. Limited options on the menu and tiny portion sizes. All in all, I would not go back again as it did not live up to my expectations and I would rather spend money at a different facility.

Beautiful spa with gorgeous surroundings. Staff very welcoming. Unfortunately, there was a mix up with the treatments, so my friend and I could no longer have our pre booked 3pm appointments. One pool closed and one jet broken. We weren't warned. The lunch is not good. There are no drinks included at all in the spa day.

Here for a wedding. Great venue and staff. £3.35 for a mixer size bottle of diet coke. Typical hotel prices.

The Spa at Mottram Hall is a simplay incredible place to go when needing a spot to relax and embrace life. Everytime I go here weather its for a Massage or just a Gym day/Pool day it is amazing and the new refurbishment really makes it seem luxury and high quality.

First class service from start to finish. We had a 3 course meal and a massage and facial. The therapist was amazing!

Everything was wonderful. The staff was a delight, Laura in the spa could not have been more helpful and pleasant if she tried, Christian the GM was so kind and welcoming and the staff in the restaurants went above and beyond. The property was beautiful and I left with the commitment to return as soon as possible. I 100% recommend staying at Mottram Hall and enjoying everything they have to offer. Wonderful property, amazing food, incredible staff and overall fantastic experience. A massive thank you to everyone at Mottram, I will be back!

The spa facilities at Mottram Hall are fantastic. You have a choice of outdoor spa, Indoor pools and spas, saunas and steam rooms. It is the perfect way to unwind. We also booked a massage which we were extremely happy with. Would definitely recommend this spa to anybody.

Firstly after reading some reviews I was hesitant, however it really was quite good... so pleasantly surprised. THE SPA: The spa was nice, big enough with different pools , saunas etc.. and a nice outdoor area with loungers etc.. it was a relaxing environment...imagine it gets busy at the weekend however. You can join classes for a small fee and enjoy a three course lunch, dinner allowance and breakfast! Although some things were closed for repair, again these things happen..more than enough open for use. THE TREATMENTS: Although good, they have a higher price than most..I don't think it's essential to get a treatment...just enjoy the spa. THE HOTEL: Our room was ok, as expected really. All you need, a little dated but Champneys had been around for a while. The doors do slam so bring ear plugs. THE FOOD: The food was really nice and displayed elegantly and all the staff seemed great and look ..mistakes happen, orders sometimes can be missed in a busy kitchen, that's just life! I think the main reason for the bad reviews are possibly they arrive with an unrealistic expectation for the price? It is expensive but it's a big hotel and lots of people to attend to, golfers, corporate and weddings. Check in can be busy as only a small space. My main if only real criticism of the spa area was that although it opens early at 7.00am when we came the day after around 9.30am there were still empty drinks and glasses from the night before. I would have expected to arrive to a clean spa before it opened. Would definitely come again!

Had a lovely spa experience at Mottram today. I am surprised to read all the recent negative reviews as I found the staff both welcoming and professional and the spa facilities of a high standard and in full working order. We booked as part of a special offer deal which included lunch and overall felt it it represented good value for what we paid.

Very average experience, very few spa facilities yet several of them were out of order on our visit. Only the pools and hot tubs were working!! Far too many people for the space, so it was very crowded, and no one was cleaning up the towels, empty glasses etc, so it was very messy

Really disappointed with the spa and service. Nowhere to sit so had to put towels etc on the floor because it was so busy. Most jacuzzis full the entire day. Lunch was a shambles, took 30+ minutes to take an order and incorrect orders left and right. The food was dreadful.
