Good food cool atmosphere. The oysters and king crab legs were good. The shrimp pasta was delicious too. Service was very good. Staff was very friendly and courteous. We visited this restaurant on Saturday with a party of six and we only waited a half hour for a table. All of the seafood was delicious.

We always sit at the bar to avoid a wait. Love that you can order stone crab here!!! The other food items are decent. Good prices. Bartenders are great! The bar is full of locals and everyone is so friendly! Get ready for a good time!

Fodd was amazing. The service was very quick. The restaurant was very unique and food to look at the photos and license plates on the walls. The menu is short and sweet but plenty of options. The garlic rolls are to die for. Went for the WORLD FAMOUS FRESH SEAFOOD COMBO I recommend it.

There’s a reason this restaurant can pull a 30 minute wait time for dinner on a Tuesday - they have delicious food! Their signature Key West sandwich has tons of perfect flavors and textures, I got it blackened and it was delicious. Their house made chips with the Whale Juice are also delicious! Can’t wait to try more of the menu.

I was really looking forward to trying The Whale's Rib, but I was actually left quite disappointed. Let me start off by saying, the staff here is stellar. From the waiters to the employee running the parking lot, everyone was super friendly and lovely. The main problem lies with the food and the beverages which are the main part of any restaurant going experience. We ordered the Blackened Shrimp, Rock Shrimp, the Whale Fries, the Rockefeller Oysters, and the Grouper Wrap. To begin with, the Whale Fries are nothing special at all, they're just simply potato chips and pretty mid ones at that. Both shrimp dishes lacked any substance and the portion sizes were quite small considering the prices here. The Grouper Wrap was probably the best thing we had, but again, it wasn't anything spectacular - it was just alright. There are many better spots that offer fresh seafood in the area where the food has way more flavor, is much more presentable, and overall better use of your money. Even the Bloody Mary here was very lacking - it was just straight tomato juice and ice; it lacked any alcohol, nice garnishing, and quality. I would best describe The Whale's Rib as a privately owned Bubba Gump. The decor inside is pretty cool, so it has that going for it. I feel like this spot is extremely overhyped.

As a Floridian who loves seafood/raw bar restaurants, this is what I describe as a perfect Florida restaurant! Very cool people offering tons of local seafood favorites (even Rock Shrimp!), cold beer and located footsteps from the beach! Stumble in here a few times over the years and each time I feel instantly chilled! Great place to come with friends, family or by yourself! Parking is a little funky because it is located in a very busy public beach area so be prepared. Outside of that, I can't think of anything but great things to say about this place!!

We were seated quickly (party of 7) and had a great server. Scallops, oysters, and muscles were perfect and delicious. Kids meals were great as well! We love Deerfield and this spot is a great place for locals or tourists.

Nice location near the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall the food was very good. Just a note that the Dolphin Fish and rice and beans were a bit bland. And for me the baked clam appetizer was a little too salty. Parking is tight, but the attendant was very helpful.

Saw the location was featured on the Food Network’s Triple D. I ordered the lobster bisque as a started and it was very rich with perfect lobster flavor. For lunch we ordered coconut shrimp and mahi-mahi fingers. The batter was thin with lots of fish. Both dishes were tasty as were the dipping sauces. My wife was bummed that the whale fries were homemade chips. However, she quickly overcame the feeling as the chips were large, seasoned well, and came in large portions. The honey mustard dipping sauce was a great accompaniment for them. The key lime pie finale was perfect. Great crust. Highly recommend!!

Delicious food and close to the ocean. We had stopped at another restaurant and found the menu here at the Whale’s Rib more appealing. Prices incredibly reasonable and portions are hearty. Our server, Sean had great suggestions. We hope to be back soon!

Fun kinda keyzee feel . Everything was excellent, dolphin sandwich, steamed clams , chowder and bisque absolutely amazing! Service was top notch . The only thing i didn’t enjoy as much was the rock shrimp. In the past i found it amazing this time i felt like it wasnt the same maybe not as fresh. But everything else was amazing. Still give it 5 star because everything was perfect, besides the rock shrimp. Stuffed baked shrimp was really good .

I keep coming back, and the food and service are consistent here. It is nice that they actually keep someone in the parking lot to keep people from parking there that are not eating there. The quality and the food are always consistent and never a disappointment. I love the Key West Grouper. This is a place that I keep coming back too.

Best restaurant on Deerfield beach. I sat at the bar, and there were 2 female bartenders. They were attentive and fun. The food was amazing! I've been coming here forever. I had the blacken dolphin key west sandwich. (Which is the best sandwich ever!) I even took a cup of Lonster bisque home....delicious!

We had a hiccup with the service, but Elayna quickly turned it around. The Bloody Mary's were delicious, and the food was definitely worth the wait! The shrimp basket came with six shrimp, but the clam strips were more than enough. My wife and I ordered them both and shared them. Finished with a delicious piece of key lime pie!

Raw bar options fantastic. Whale chips are incredible. The grouper sandwich would be a bit but the bread they use isn’t great. Very good and efficient service.

This place has very fresh fish. I enjoyed the Grooper, Sword Fish, and baked beans with white rice. Genuinely a great place to go. The only complaint l have was its hard to find parking.

This is my new favorite seafood restaurant. Been coming here every 2 weeks for the past 3 months. Lets start with the atmosphere; What used to be parking spots in front of the restaurant are now being used as well spaced and comfortable outdoor seating. You can usually hear the music from the entertainment across the street which is an added bonus. The interior lends to a rustic laid back seafood eatery. It is not a frew-frew restaurant. license plates on the wall from different states, pictures of the history of the staff and owners are all around. Do to COVID the staff is very health conscious and they adhere to distance seating. There are clear plastic partitions separating the tables which does not feel closed in and you are able to see around the restaurant. All staff wear masks and gloves. The drinks. They have a variety of tropical drinks and VERY cold beer. The appetizers; I have experienced the raw oysters and the escargot. Both dishes are perfectly presented and taste fresh. The main course; I always get the fresh Maine lobster. They offer a la carte or with 2 sides for literally a couple dollars more. I typically get 2 a la carte because the price is so reasonable. The lobsters are 1 1/4 pound lobsters perfectly steamed. In the several times I have been to this restaurant I have never had a piece of lobster shred or stick to the shell. It is perfectly cooked. My husband likes to get the crabcakes. They come 2 to a serving and are served a la carte. They are nice large crabcakes and my husband might add a side or 2. My 15 year old son likes to get the veggie salad which is a substantial size. He will usually get a protein topper of crabcakes, shrimp, dolphin or Tuna. The seafood is fresh and tasty. You can always tell when a restaurant uses "previously frozen" product because there is that hint of mushiness in the texture. Not at this restaurant! Whales Rib seafood is FRESH and firm. Finally, hats off to the friendly staff. from the hostess to the server everyone really appears to ENJOY working at Whales Rib. Katie, our server is always so attentive and is quick to bring me a beer when it looks like I am in need. Katie makes great suggestions for food choices. If you are looking for a GREAT seafood restaurant close to the beach (it's a 25 minutes drive for us) look no further than Whales Rib in Deerfield Beach. You won't be disappointed. Happy Eating!

All the staff was great, from the parking lot attendant to the maitre'de to the waitresses. All friendly, pleasant, helpful and attentive. Oh, and the food was perfect and served timely. We'll return with friends.

I visit Florida every year or two for fun and business, And I always make sure to get to The Whale's Rib!!. One of my favorite places to go. Last time from the boca resort, awesome too by the way , 6 of us went and everything was fantastic. Love this place!!!. Had the seafood platter.. wish I was there right now.

I love seafood especially deep fryed but I am not the biggest fan of fish tacos in general but I do have to say I think thes ones where great must try to make up your own mind but if you do get a craving for this type of food this is the spot.

Just picked up takeout, our first time visit! So delighted Clancy took our order. She is the sweetest, bubbliest person ever! We couldn’t wait to meet her! She helped us decide on the Key West beer battered sandwich. Yummo! And amazing key lime for desert! You won’t be disappointed with this place. When you come to visit, ask for Clancy.

Place was extremely promising, great location, loved sitting outside but that was about it. The food is AWFUL, we tried 2 soups (lobster bisque and clam chowder) both tasted fishy as if the fish was bad or old. crab cakes, calamari... again this is not fresh seafood, likely frozen from a bag. Linguini with muscles, pasta was completely gummy and overcooked, drenched in butter and cheese... everything was just bland?! Muscles again, bad taste, bad smell. I would not recommend eating here, we actually left most of our food and just got the check. Server was really friendly but she was never around, so couldn’t even enjoy drinks. Unfortunate, take your money elsewhere. I think they only seem and look busy because they are in a tourist location.

The good: The escargot was hot and delicious. Loved it! The bad: The conch soup was barely lukewarm, the lobster was barely lukewarm and the potatoes were barely lukewarm. The ugly: The butter that came with the lobster was actually cold, but since it was still a liquid, it made me suspicious as to what it really was since butter would not be a liquid at that temperature. Summary: Hot food should be served hot! A potentially great meal turned out to be disappointing. Too bad.

The food is fantastic and the service is even better! The hostess Victoria is literally the BEST she is so accommodating and friendly. Service is speedy and the wait for a table is super quick. The outside eating area is lovely, spacious with seats both in the sun and shade. Food staples that are a MUST is of course the lobster busque, peel and eat shrimp, rock shrimp, whale fries with honey mustard sauce and the raw oysters are the freshest in south Florida.
