Absolutely fantastic! Old church in the city centre transformed into a well thought out and interactive museum. Very friendly staff. Informative and fun exhibits, and reasonably priced. The curators of this museum have done such such a great job! It's like what The Dungeons would be, if it were an educational museum experience. 💀

Excellent attraction. Be careful if you are a bit squeamish though! It's fascinating seeing how medicine has changed through the ages and how people dealt with disease in the past. We loved the medieval street that you walk down. There is so much detail that you need to slow down and really look to see it all. Well worth a visit! We loved the "Guess the organ" and "Sniff the past" sections.

An unusual attraction documenting the history of medicine throughout the ages. Reasonably priced it is very informative with buckets of information entwined with visual displays and interactive gruesome fun! A must go to for all the family! Only let down was that some of the medical equipment had run out of battery!

It's shabby. Not the fault of the staff, and they did try to make it atmospheric. The exhibits you could interact with were worn out. The information was interesting and it killed 10 minutes.

Fantastic independent museum in the centre of Chester and the best £6 I've spent in a long time! For anyone interested in disease, medicine, surgery, and history in general, this is a truly wonderful experience. The team curating the exhibits have gone above and beyond to create an immersive and exciting experience. The range of exhibits is brilliant, the staff are friendly and welcoming (and work very hard to continue to experience during their interactions with you) and I would suggest anyone visiting Chester takes the time to visit.

A great find in Chester. Their efforts during Halloween must be commended. Although it’s a bit small, but defo a great way to spend time couple of hours with the kids going around, reading interesting educational stuff as well as lots of opportunities for the kids to play and explore. Hand sanitisers are readily available everywhere and social distance can easily be maintained. As soon as you buy the tickets, someone (in costume) will come out to give you a torch ( you’ll find out why ;) )and explain what this whole experience is about. You’ll then be escorted into an antechamber to see a short video (-and take some cool pics). Then you’ll enter the main display area where you get to roam around and chance to discover …. Stuff! Quite a fun pass time for adults as well, specially when they throw evening theme parties. P.S. gift shop is at the tickets

Been wanting to visit for a while and was not disappointed. Small venue but an excellent one with some really interesting interactive (gruesome and smelly) displays. Well worth a visit to learn a little more about medicine through time.

Great experience, love the fact there is a quiz and anatomy you have to solve. Again plenty of hands on activities and learning all the smells and diseases. Also in an old listed church which makes it even more better.

Really enjoyed a trip around here. Well worth a visit. The staff are welcoming and informative. Well laid out with plenty of interactive attractions. Not for the faint hearted. Beautifully macabre. Just need their own branded fridge magnets! But I won't deduct stars for that.

I loved this place. It was fun. All the horrors of the middle ages medicine is here to see and even to smell. Fantastic price for £6 per person.

Small entrance fee for a very informative attraction. Lovely greeting on a cold day. To really appreciate it you need to read all the material, self guided. If you don't then you miss out. You do need your torch on your phone as some areas are dark and thus makes it hard to read. Great for all ages but do get immersed in the interactive parts to make the experience better, disgusting but fun. As you first enter after the video there are a couple of torches. Use them as it shows hidden weighting and information. We enjoyed it as it was quiet. I can imagine as its small it would become cramped and loud when visiting during holidays and weekends.

This place is excellent! Very interactive and loads of bad taste photo ops. Great fun and well worth the admission fee.

Fascinating! So interactive, so interesting. Mix of history, learning, interacting and linking what we learned in the past to how it helps us now. And ultimately fun! I loved it.

Its only a small place but only a small entrance fee. Ive seen this kind of thing before, so nothing really new that i hadnt seen before. If ylu nwver beento anything similar then its worth a visit. Still glad we c went though.

Great place. Most suitable for children/young adults and anyone with a passing interest in medieval medicine. Spent around 1.5 hours here

  • 5/5 Melissa 1 year ago on Google
Firstly Not suitable for young children or adults who faint at the sight of blood lol, although there are chairs strategy placed around which must be for panic attack moments. I did very well not to faint! I thought the building was cool and the museum was interesting, Worth a visit for the price.

Was enjoyable if a little underwhelming. Some of the exhibits have a sensory element including touch and smells. Kills some time for half an hour or so. There is a lot of information, so this is good if you like reading about the gory details of our past. Some of the exhibits look a bit tired. It is a small museum and it is a great way to use a church that would otherwise be underused.

After reading reviews I had really high expectations but was left a little disappointed. It was set up well in the church, but dark and felt cramped. Audio experiences were broken, cheap and worn out props, and it just felt like everything needed a face lift. Shame because I feel like it has the potential to be really good. Friendly staff however and cheap enough admission prices however I wouldn’t overly recommend. Would also try to avoid on weekends as very busy and hard to see everything.

Had a really good experience at Sick to Death today. My son really enjoyed looking st all the exhibits and looking for the important Rats!!! The staff were really lovely and made the experience all the more enjoyable, even the scary Plague Doctor. Great for thing to do in Chester and learn some really cool facts. Go it good

Some good fun, loads of information, we really enjoyed it! Definitely worth a stop off for the price of the ticket, £7 for an adult.

We had a great visit here, came across it by accident and decided to go in for a look around. It was very good, very interesting and quote funny in some parts. If you have an interest in medical diseases and how procedures were carried out years ago, this is the place to visit, our teenagers also enjoyed. Would recommend xx

Not a huge place but lots of interesting information, takes 45 mins to an hour depending on how interested you are in the history (and some parts pleasantly gory) of medicine. Cheap to get in as well and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Could do with a few items fixing where people have damaged things but overall a good little place to visit.

Good use of a disused church. It added to a slightly scary, creepy atmosphere. Adults & children enjoyed it as it's so interactive.UV pens were fun for spotting hidden germs & messages. We learnt a lot about the history of surgery & medicine & Chester. Bit disappointed that the turdis was out of order as I wanted to have a ride in the world's only time travelling toilet.

Fantastic little museum. Highly recommend. Sick to death documents the gore of medical history through time. Very interactive and informative. It was so much fun, and ticket prices were very reasonable. It was self guided, with lots of photo opportunities. Would be okay for younger kids who are okay with descriptive gore (think horrible histories). The building itself is stunning, and old church with many features throughout, including a very large and beautiful stained glass window.

Loved this museum!, really well laid out, with loads to see, interactive displays and really good fun!. Great for adults and kids alike with toilet facilities for all and Great little gift shop at the end. Staff were great and tickets are great value. Definitely recommend coming here.

Honestly one of the best small museums that I have visited, this bought me back to Horrible Histories as a kid! Me and my partner had great fun learning about what diseases may kill us in the future and posing for photographs with death, see evidence below. Informative, funny and excellently located. Staff were lovely and had an excellent sense of humour. Highly rated from us both!

It’s a great idea full of gory information. It’s worth a visit. Might be too gory for young children though so be mindful of this. The guy at the front desk gives you a talk and assumes a persona in keeping with the experience which is a nice touch.

Excellent! Fun! Professional and friendly! Suitably gruesome and gory. A tiny bit scary at first for the kids (5 and 7) but in an exciting way. Interactive and informative! I thoroughly recommend for all the family!

A fun interactive museum about illnesses and their cures. Not at all scary, but not for the squeamish

  • 5/5 Susan W. 2 years ago on Google
Small but packed with things to see and do. Lots of information provided in an easily accessible format that will appeal to all ages. The staff are amazing and even made our wait to go in entertaining. Very covid safe with plenty of hand sanitiser at touch points. Highly recommend.

This is a hidden little gem of an attraction. I stumbled across it quite by accident. The staff great you with a great introduction to the attraction. Funny and interesting, they make even paying for entry a pleasure. Once inside the exhibition and experience are interesting, but not gruesome. As you walk around you will find fascinating facts, we'll presented models, and interactive items. Prices are good and well worth the entery fee. If you've seen London dungeon, this is much smaller and you guide yourself around. Great way to spend an hour. Throughly recommend giving this a look.

Really enjoyed our visit and so did the kids. The staff were entertaining and got the kids interested right from the start. For a small venue there was a lot of info and exhibits like a cadaver, surgical tools, and a man on the toilet complete with different types of poo. Plenty of things to smell, touch, (sanitiser provided) read listen and do.

We were greeted warmly by two gentlemen who diagnosed myself and my other half. They were really great with the historical illnesses and cures. The experience itself is in a gorgeous setting including gargoyles and stained glass windows. There were no jump scares or strobe lighting (great for me as I'm epileptic!) The medieval alley might be a bit much for some younger audiences but it's a great depiction. We loved the exhibitions, there was something there for both educational purposes, something to have a giggle and an "Ugh imagine having that!" moment. Absolutely would recommend, the ticket price is incredibly cheap for what is it, the setting and most importantly the staff who give you the great atmosphere
