BEDBUGS! I would not recommend going. Notified staff two different managers. No apologies no solution offered. Bit impersonal staff. Bed are wood and the make loads of noise when. Sleeping top bunk that is. No breakfast was included in the stay. A/c turned of first night by someone second night no power and no backup generator. 1 male shower for two dorms Positives: lock box build in the bed with 1 power outlet. (need ur own padlock) they check your bag at check in. Also have video of the crawlers.. Now itchy till I'm home...

I loved my stay here! This is Island Hostel's branch in central Colombo. They have one in Mount Lavinia too. This branch is at the heart of the city itself, and the location is the BEST especially if you've just arrived/about to depart Sri Lanka. It's near the National Museum, Liberty (a mall where I enjoyed browsing/shopping for teas), groceries, spas, and lots of dining places. It just opened six days ago, and I feel lucky to be one of the first people to stay here. The hostel has a pool, wifi, common restrooms with powerful hot/cold showers, and friendly receptive staff. The rooms are air-conditioned and the bunk beds are well-appointed. Each of them has a night light, two lockers on the side of the bed where one can be padlocked (bring your own), and a universal outlet + 2 USB ports for charging. They also provide a blanket and a towel. The rates include free basic breakfast too. It's just bread, butter, and jam with coffee, tea or milk, but I appreciated that. They have diningware if you want to bring in your own food. There are a lot of dining places nearby depending on your craving and budget. I only stayed for a day because I had to catch my flight that same night. I called them up early morning and their staff were so considerate and friendly. My bed was free so they checked me in early, and they even let me claim my breakfast for that day, too. The hostel can be accessed via public transport even from the airport. Just take the Airport bus to Colombo Fort Station (only 150LKR). Then, cross the street twice and take either the 100 or 101 bus (15-20LKR depending on bus type) and tell the bus conductor you are dropping off at Liberty. From Liberty bus stop, it's a 3min walk away (Hostel's street is adjacent to Burger King). Everyone speaks English and are generally friendly, so you can always ask for directions. That's what I did and how I figured out this route. If you are carrying a lot of stuff, you may have a hard time taking the 100/101 city buses as they can get crowded. So, you can just take the airport bus to Colombo Station and from the bus terminal, you can just use PickMe, the local tuktuk/car booking app to get to the hostel from there and avoid getting ripped off. It's metered and will cost around 170LKR ($1). You can buy a sim from the airport for data. I recommend Dialog. If you don't like the idea of multiple transfers and just want to chill, you can use PickMe from the airport terminal itself. The trip would cost around 1500LKR + 300LKR highway fee (around $12). Airport is a good 45mins away. If you are taking a train from Kandy/Galle, Kollupitiya Station is the nearest train stop. This is right after Bambalapitiya Station and right before Colombo Fort Station. The hostel is a 5min walk away.

It's annoying. Get ready for the employees to come into the room at 12am, 5am and turn on the lights. They have music blasting for a pool party all day.. and have all their friends over so you don't know whose suppose to be here. Then they turn off all the lights in the common area at 11pm like a curfew because their party time is over. Co-ed washrooms. The Men clean the washrooms at 8:30am at prime morning time while girls are in the showers and don't announced that they are in there. The dirty pigs. Pool needs a good clean. The beds were decent.

Hostel with Swimming Pool This hostel is big and has swimming pool as well. It has good facilities and staffs are helpful as well. Only one thing bothered me a lot that is lower bed was too lower or else it's a nice hostel. There is a restaurant as well in the same property but it's not hostel's restaurant. So if you don't feel like going out to eat you can eat there or order online.

disappointing ... level guest There was no drinking water, they did not sell cold water, and there were no electrical charging plugs, as most of them do not work. There are a lot of crawling mosquitoes and insects. I fought with him because of his provocative style, but he apparently was not deterred. There is no management of the hostel Bring cold water with you as they do not have cold drinking water, there is water cooler, but it is permanently disconnected from the electrical current and large travel bags are stored in a room and paid for it in exchange for money such as a safety deposit box. Workers in the hostel communicate with inmates who come alone, especially from the countries of Europe, Canada and the Americas, via mobile phone, and then the exploitation begins in the worst form.

The International Dinner Buffet at the Flavoured restaurant is definitely value for money. The variety of good food leaves everyone with a choice. I felt the desserts could have been tastier. Overall an enjoyable dining experience at this restaurant. The service is excellent. The Art even better!

I really enjoyed the beds. They are sweet and very comfortable. The hostel itself is nice, except the swimming pool, which was a little bit useless in my opinion. There is also a pokybowl restaurant next by, where the food is a little bit expensive, but good. Also the guys helped me for the next part of my trip. Thank you for it !

The staffwas very welcoming and friendly. The patio and associated restaurant (Bowl'd) were the best part of my stay. It was so chilling to sit outside and the food at the restaurant was so delicious. The location is very good, easy to find, it's near the main street but far away from the traffic and noise. 10 minutes away from train and bus station, 20 minutes on foot. The bunk beds are mostly verticle, with each bed having a locker, plug and night lamp. They offer you a towel and breakfast is toast, butter, jam and banana. However, the rooms are seperated into 4 and 6 bed female dorm, where in fact it is just one large room with 10 bunk beds (4 Horizontal and 6 Vertical). The cleanliness was not the best thing, the toilets were not regularly dried out, not did they leave the supplies for us to do that. Also i found a cockroach on my mattress, unfortunately by the time i went to get someone to help find it, it was nowhere to be found. I would recommend this hostel only for a short stay.

Ok hostel. Like the bed arrangement. Not a big fan of the showers combined with the toilets. Also wish they had some local food on the menu (maybe I missed it). Hospitality was great though!

In my opinion, this hostel is one of the best places to stay in Colombo and has everything that one needs for a comfortable stay: 1) great (really great) beds, which give you comfort, privacy, night lamp and lockers all at once; 2) spacious garden/entrance area next to the pool, good for chill-out 3) great location, not next to the main road, making it less noisy; accessible and close to variety of restaurants; nearby public transport (both train and bus stops); 3) good WiFi, friendly service, free tea and coffee throughout the day, clean water refill. Keep up the good work! πŸ™
