Please is very good. They have verity of Tamil foods. Very tasty but little bit expensive and small portion. Staff is very supportive and friendly. Very clean and safe environment. AC available. There are tons of variations. So before order please get some help from a waiter

If you want to taste the real South Indian flavor this is the place. Thalappakatti is renown for Biriyani & its 100% accurate. They have a unique blend of spices which gives the authentic taste for Biriyani & I loved it. The variety of the menu is so vast so it's better if you can decide what to order early. Chicken Boneless Biriyani & Paneer Biriyani were really mouthwatering. "Raita" dish was served with Biriyani & it was delicious. The portion sizes are relatively less but its sufficient for one person. Prices are expensive. Very quick delivery time. Calm & clean environment. Good & friendly service but some was bit rude. Sufficient seatings. Limited parking slots are available. They offer takeout also & have to admire their packaging. However they are charging a parcel charge too.

They serve authentic Indian dishes and there’s a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. We ordered chicken biriyani and it was on point. Probably one of the best Indian restaurants in Sri Lanka.

Really disappointed with their delivery service and the quality of the product. On 04th June 2023, we ordered paratha from Thalapakatti Mount Lavinia branch around 7.00 pm. But we received the order package at 8.35 PM. When we inquired about the delay of the order, the telephone operator harshly replied us on the delay of the food order. As per the driver, he has got the package just 15 minutes before the delivery time. But the telephone operator confuse us by telling different reasons. Is this the way they handle customer care service? Any how the food quality was also very worse. Paratha was too hard to eat it. Totally disappointed with their delivery service and the quality of the product 👎.

This was the first time I tried this place. The welcome was really great. We ordered boneless chicken biriyani and 2 sweet Lassi cost us 4186 with taxes (1299 biriyani and 409 lassi) the chicken in the biriyani was super small and very few pieces. It wasn't worth the price at all for me. Taste wise it was okay. Nothing much to complain but it wasn't amazing! (6/10) The Lassi came few minutes after the biriyani and it was not cold at all, we asked for Ice and they took 10 minutes to bring ice which then we were done having it. (4/10) The restaurant wasn't busy at this moment. We paid in Cash and the balance was supposed to be 814 rupees. But they gave us only 810. It is just 4 rupees, but they had no courtesy to tell us that there is 4 rupees short or neither did they acknowledge it. Which in my personal opinion I found very disrespectful considering the current situation in the currently. The staff however was very friendly and approachable (10/10) but their service was very average (5/10) Do I recommend this place? - you can try out, but there are much better Indian restaurants in Colombo

Authentic South Indian food. Best biriyani in town, in my opinion. I've been to this branch thrice since its opening. A tad crowded during peak hours and holidays, but the food is delicious is always :) I hope they keep up the standards 🙌

Hygiene and clean. Also the food quality is good. You must try their's amazing "Black Pepper Chicken" 🍗😋 I really love that. There were many kinds of biriyani. The menu contains vegetarian friendly dishes too. Overall very good restaurant. Hope to come again soon. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!

We ordered parratta, chicken varuwal kulambu and egg masala curry. Parrata and chicken varuwal kulambu was so good and delicious but egg masala is different than de fonseka place branch, it has sour taste. But there service was really good and welcoming was in Tamil was highlighted (they say vankam and welcome) it was very good and gives warm feeling and also leaving also they had a good gesture. This will definitely attracts customers. Hope they maintain this

I have to say, the mutton biryani at Thalappakatti Restaurant in Mount Lavinia, Ratmalana, was absolutely amazing. It had such a fantastic flavor that I couldn't resist ordering three other items, and my family loved it too. Their eyes lit up with delight as they took their first bite, and it's always a joy to see that reaction in people. The biryani comes expertly packed in a specially made container, adding to the overall experience. Despite my initial skepticism, having tasted biryani in South India, this Sri Lankan restaurant has truly exceeded my expectations and set high standards. I commend the owners for their cleanliness, presentation, and quality control. If you're looking for the best biryani, you should definitely give this place a try. Don't miss out on the awesomeness that awaits you there.

We order chicken kottu, paneer fried and mushroom fried rice. Both rice tastes so delicious and ordered mushroom curry which made the fried rice even more delicious by combining the curry with rice. We received a gravy and riata for chicken Kottu, the kottu was not much taste and does not worth for the price. And good place go with friends and family for a lunch or dinner.

Even though they are specialized in biriyani, when we ordered on 11.11.23 around 9:30 pm they said Biriyani is over, then we ask for Dosa, apparently they serve dosa only during week days till 6 pm. And they don’t have and wade. No chai. Only soft/cool drinks at least no tea or coffee. They had only koththu, noodles, and Parata. That’s funny. Finally we ordered Parata and it was ok, luckily. So don’t go there if you want to try authentic Indian foods. PS: their wash room was pretty bad too.

Thalapakkati’s Mount Lavinia branch is a culinary treasure trove that offers a tantalizing journey through the flavors of South India. The menu is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity, and the Murga Tikka Masala, Chicken 65 Biryani, Black Pepper Chicken, parotta, Carrot Halwa, and Egg Kalaki were a testament to the delicious and diverse offerings. The Murga Tikka Masala was a showstopper. The chicken was tender, succulent, and drenched in a rich, aromatic gravy. The spices were well-balanced, and it was a delightful introduction to the South Indian culinary experience. The Chicken 65 Biryani was an exemplary fusion of spicy and aromatic, with perfectly cooked rice and succulent chicken that was nothing short of a gastronomic delight. The Black Pepper Chicken was a savory masterpiece, featuring tender chicken with a kick of peppery heat that was invigorating to the taste buds. The parotta, a South Indian classic, was flaky and served as the perfect accompaniment to the rich gravies and biryani. It was both hearty and satisfying. Carrot Halwa, a traditional Indian dessert, was a sweet conclusion to the meal, with its comforting warmth and sweetness. Egg Kalaki was a unique and visually appealing egg-based dessert that was a delightful surprise, blending flavors and textures in an exciting way. The service at Thalapakkati was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was inviting, making it an ideal setting for a South Indian culinary adventure. In summary, Thalapakkati in Mount Lavinia is an exceptional choice for those seeking an authentic South Indian dining experience. The dishes are a true reflection of the restaurant’s commitment to quality and taste. The Murga Tikka Masala, Chicken 65 Biryani, Black Pepper Chicken, and the rest of the menu are all must-tries for those looking to explore the diverse and delicious flavors of South Indian cuisine. It’s a culinary gem for food enthusiasts and an absolute delight for the taste buds.

Food is not bad. But the prices are very high. Service charge is too much. Not satisfied with the services. Although their were many serve boys, too slow service. Specially we didnt ordered or used a water bottle but they charged for that too. Washrooms not so good. Not going again. First and last time.

Food was quite tasty and every item we ordered was very nicely presented. The prices are very reasonable. The complaints i have about food is that they don't carry many fish based mains items and they don't carry a lot of variations for mains. For an example, biriyani is offered in at least 3 chicken variations - only difference being the way chicken pieces are made. However, portions are adequate (i wouldn't say generous, but reasonable) - don't expect the main dishes to be shared with 2 people (to be fair, servers say main dishes are single person servings). Bit lackluster on the drinks menu and very poor on the desserts menu. One thing to note was that music was too loud for my liking - specially for a family based restaurant where you are more likely to have conversations with members of your party - and the music acted as a deterrent (don't know if it is by design). Overall, a nice place to take your family or friends.

Great place with decent parking and drop off area, customer service was exceptional. Briyanis were finished when we got there (9pm) so I'd suggest going a bit earlier . Chicken and mutton curries had a bit too much cumin for my liking but vegetarian dishes were some of the best I've ever tried - I'd recommend the egg masala and paneer masala. The nans and rotis were very good too. Prices were very decent and service time was reasonable.

Mount Lavinia Dindigul Thalappakatti restaurant has a unique position in the hotel resturant industry. I am giving the reasons for this because of my lunch today. Explaining the differences in the dishes I chose, Mr. Sugumar suggest a good lunch for me. Accordingly, he and his staff provided excellent customer service. And the chefs made me very tasty. Today's Thalappakatti experience gave me a beautiful memory that I will never forget in my life. 😍Accordingly I highly recommend Thalappakatti Mountt Lavinia Branch. 👌♥️ Actually it was best lunch time to me.Thank you thalappakatti restaurant 🥘🍜🍽🍱

A big fan of this South Indian restaurant chain. Their Biriyani, mutton sukka, and back pepper chicken are my favourites. Love the way they maintain the quality and taste of the food. Keep up the good work. Highly recommended. Have visited their outlet at Gall Face Green and De Fonseka place as well.

Food is super tasty. The issue is most of the items that were on the menu was not available. There were several biriyani options mentioned on the menu. But only 3,4 options were available. The potion is very small compared to the price. We ordered 3 biriyanis but they only gave us one cup of gravy and raita. Need to ask and wait till they bring the next cup of raita. Gulab Jamun was mentioned on the menu. But it was not available. Very bad experience on food selection. Can recommend falooda.

Very disappointed, said they will send at 6.30 pm and arrived at 8.10 pm after four calls. Ordered a chicken biriyani sawan which was utter waste of money. Not recommended.

Ordered three items for takeaway. Classic Chicken, Classic Boneless Chicken & Chicken 65 Biryanis. Only the Chicken 65 was flavourful, Both other chicken types were flavourless and mild in taste. The chicken portions per biryani serving was very less. The Biryani rice was the same for all three types - not great and not bad either. The curry and curd onion portions had no flavour to compliment the rice in any way. Disappointed since I placed this order for a Birthday. Home-based small scale food delivery businesses do a better job than these franchises.

I have ordered the Kadai Chickrn curry via Uber Eats. This curry which is priced for Rs.984, came with 4 born pieces each of 2 inch sized, with zero meat. It was the most cheapest serving I have received from any restaurant.
