Peaceful
lake,
surrounded
by
a
pretty
huge
park
complete
with
playgrounds
for
the
kids,
base/softball
diamonds,
and
this
is
the
spot
for
weekend
volleyball
enthusiasts.
Nets
are
strung
throughout
the
park,
and
carloads
of
players
and
spectators
fill
the
grassy
areas.
Anyone
with
a
licence
is
welcome
to
bribg
their
fishing
pole,
but
during
the
summer
months
even
expert
fishermen
will
be
put
to
shame
by
the
flock
of
cormorant
birds.
At
a
glance,
they
appear
ungainly,
with
large
bodies
and
scrawny
wings.
Swimmibg
looks
like
a
struggle,
as
they
plow
through
the
water,
body
submerged
and
clumsy,
a
big
contrast
to
the
graceful
ducks
and
geese
on
the
pond.
But
you
will
hear
the
cackling
laughter
from
the
flock
as
they
take
flight,
instatly
becoming
sleek,
streamlined
torpedoes,
diving
from
the
sky,
and
smashing
headlong
into
the
water.
And
just
when
you
think
the
animal
has
met
its
doom
at
the
lakes
murky
bottom,
a
skinny
head,
followed
by
an
even
skinnier
neck
(now
containing
a
fish
shaped
bulge)
break
the
surface,
swallow,
then
join
its
mates
in
raspy,
rude,
yet
quite
hilarious
laughter..
