This place is a work of art...literally. Every car in here is beautifully restored. Wonderful to look at and interesting to read about. It's not just cars though. Its Planes, Trains, and Automobiles only without John Candy and Steve Martin.

The entry fee is $15 currently which seems fair. Soo many cars, train paraphernalia, as well as antique motorcycles and bicycles. The bicycles were a highlight as I don’t think I’ve seen the big wheel ones in person before. No bags of any kind allowed, not even purses, so they’ll give you a locker. Wish we could see better into the train windows if we aren’t allowed to go into them, I couldn’t see in and would have loved to for the one in the back. Free parking is a plus!

This may be the best museum in Denver! The Trains and cars are cool for anybody. I wouldn't consider myself a car enthusiast, but am for history, and this whole place tells an amazing story. Don't miss the mini trainset in the back!

Really nice museum and it is much larger than it appears on the outside. Very nice vintage displays of Trains, Bikes, cars, clothes, toys and airplanes. We spent almost 3 hours touring. Cost per adult $14.

Excellent museum. It has some amazing vehicles, some with great ties to historical figures! There are trains, planes, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, & even a little red tricycle identical to the one my kids had as toddlers! There is one area that rotates different types of autos every few months.

This is such an amazing museum! You absolutely need to check it out. I found this place throu word of mouth from two strangers at another museum. It has plane, trains, cars, motorcycles, bike, you name it. Come see their wonderful collection and meet their friendly staff! I for one highly recommend this place!

Not as cheap as it used to be. Admission is $17/adults, $9/children. If one has a backpack or purse, one is given a key, directed to a locker room, in which to lock up your bag. As I walked through the museum, I pondered what one would take, as vehicles are enormous and nothing there would fit into one's personal bag. Staff was friendly, said thanks for supporting the museum. It's nice to see the history of the planes, trains, automobiles, bikes - both motorized and pedal powered, etc...

Planes, trains and automobiles - and motorcycles and bicycles and lots of great history. I wasn’t sure what to expect of my visit to the Forney but I can tell you it can exceed your wildest expectations. There are lots of things to see and capture your interest regardless of what age group you fall into. We arrived shortly before opening on a Friday. There was plenty of parking and no crowd to speak of. Truth be told, I was a little put off by the window dressing at the entrance. I worried that we were walking into a souvenir shop instead of a museum. That concern was immediately put to rest as we walked through the doors to the exhibit area. It is almost overwhelming as the immense showroom is crammed with well maintained exhibits. We slowly wandered through the collection with an admitted childlike amazement. The shear size of the trains inspires the imagination. Then you get to see small three wheeled vehicles that bring you back to earth. I didn’t know that there was going to be a whole room mostly motorcycles and bicycles. Seeing a pristine example of my first motorcycle (a Honda 175) from the 1970’s brought back fond memories. I highly recommend the Forney for well spent time building new memories.

Absolutely amazing. I can't believe I've lived in Denver for more then 30 years and never been to this museum before. Cars from as early as 1905, public transportation, motorcycles, planes, trains, milk wagon, school bus - this museum has everything.

Such a gem — for car lovers first and foremost, but also something that a history buff would like too. Awesome collection — we got through it in 45 minutes, but you could stick around for an 90 minutes of more.

This museum is so much fun – – there is something here for everyone. There’s an impressive collection of early bicycles that really give you an appreciation for the renovations made in the past 200 years. Yes, there is a bicycle hear from 1817! There was an expansive exhibit of Indian motorcycles that is sure to be a draw for any enthusiast. For me, it was the old cars that really got me revved up. I’ll admit it, seeing Amelia Earhart’s convertible was a real thrill. The big boy steam locomotive was a complete surprise and a real delight. We enjoyed learning about the train from one of the volunteers Carl. He was so knowledgeable and passionate that we couldn’t help but feel excited too. We’re already looking forward to a return visit. There’s too much to take in all at once. Plus the exhibit change every three months. Thanks for a great afternoon!

Trains, planes, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, unicycles, tricycles, horse drawn carriages, old fire trucks, etc… Amazing collection of all of the above and some. So awesome to see how well kept and/or restored these vehicles are. The Disco era exhibition was fabulous! Staff was friendly. Bathrooms were clean.

This is a must-see in the Denver area if you love ❤️ trains, automobiles, and motorcycles. A little off the beaten path, but well worth your time. Nicely laid out collection with one of the largest steam locomotives ever built. Along with some unique automobiles and motorcycles and an impressive side collection of model cars, along with a nice gift shop. If you like Honda and Indian motorcycles 🏍, you will love their collection. Very friendly staff of volunteers are willing to discuss their collection in detail. If I lived in the Denver area, I would be a member and volunteer. We enjoyed our visit and highly recommend this place 👏👍!

We've lived in Denver for more than six years, but we only now made it. Boy, we missed something all those years. This museum is incredible. We spent close to two hours, deeply enjoying the impressive collection of cars, trains, motorcycles, and more. We'll definitely come back.

Honestly, much better than expected. Not models of trains but actual huge trains. Great selection of automobile and motorcycles among other things. Really very impressive.

It was a nice outing for the family! We went to see Big Boy and Boy was it Big. There's Trains, old cars, motorcycles, bikes, some flying vehicles, race car and so much more. They switch out the vehicles every 3 months. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

An enjoyable museum. Cars and motorcycles from most eras, most in amazing shape. A few trains from years past, though you can't get in them. A miniature section with cars, trucks, and trains are worth viewing. Recommended.

Seriously one of the coolest museums I have been to! The exhibits were very thoughtfully curated and I enjoyed the history and stories told in the concise display descriptions! I also loved that it incorporates Denver history related to transportation. I brought my dad who is a car enthusiast here, but saw so many different generations and families there sharing stories and having a blast.

We had come to town from Texas and looking for something to do on an unexpected free day. We found plenty of parking upon arrival and entered into the gift shop and the initial gallery. Tremendous collection of scale models and diecast vehicles to start out the adventure and then we moved into the main galleries. Incredible collection of civilian vehicles from the past 120 years and a wide range of transportation from the same period. The Big Boy train is truly impressive and hard to fathom it actually moving at 60 miles an hour 😮We did enjoy our trip but the only caveat is if you have young children, they will find a little to do except climbing into a few vehicles. There’s not much to do for them and my seven and five year old were bored quickly due to a lack of interaction. But still a great museum and looking forward to a repeat visit when I have more time to look around for myself :)

Masks not required. 5 stars just for that. Not crowded at all at opening self guided tour is fine there is so much to see we focused on the trains but the cars and motorcycles are interesting.

This museum was fun to visit. I loved the cars because a lot of them were rare and you wouldn't see them at a car show. The train was cool because parts were restored and bicycles were fun.

A vast and unique selection of transportation related machines, accessories, and hardware. The displays are organized and laid out beautifully, with plenty of educational information. The museum also provides information on iconic figure in transportation history, like Bessie Coleman. Those representing the museum are very friendly and eager to help. Our family had a great experience at one of the coolest places I have visited. Much thanks to the whole organization.

By coincidence I visited this museum and -Boy - I was surprised. Of the only 8 remaining UP Big Boys, seven of them are on display, while one (X4014) has been restored to a working condition. Of these seven, only 2 are on indoor display. Above this marvel, there are other interesting trains to see, including a Rio Grande GP30, a german Henschel Narrow-gauge steamer and a swedish coach. If you're not interested in trains, there's a lot see in form of cars, motorcycles, farming equipment and even plains.

Great niche museum. Saw the Chevy exhibit but they change them quarterly. The trains are our favorite Parking is easy and free. Staff is knowledgeable and nice. I think they do birthday parties there and memberships are available. Great non-profit museum

If you like any aspect of vintage cars, bicycles, motorcycles, planes or trains, you should visit this awesome place. It took about 2 hours to walk through, but even then we didn't see every detail or read every information piece. There is also a gift shop at the entrance/exit with many neat items.

Really fun museum. A whole range of different artifacts; from massive trains to motorcycles and bicycles, to fire trucks, to cars, and all sorts of things in between (helicopter, 70’s electric vehicle, etc.). I rated a 4 instead of a 5 as I would have liked to see a bit more interactive exhibits and/or possibly more narrative around some things like the Denver trolley cars. Cool place. Recommended.

Denver public library provides free passes to Forney museum for members.. This is hidden gem for history and automobile industry enthusiasts.. Would recommend to take a look at "Big boy", take photos with ford model .. wax models look so realistic .. matchbox cars collection is amazing.. thanks for all the donors who made it possible for patrons like us..

A fantastic display. The bigboy was the reason I came as that is a monster. Many road vehicles, as well as a few aircraft ad rail. The experimental aircraft is very unique and to think it was later tried to make it amphibious is awesome.

Our second time visiting this bringing my 86 yr old Father in law. Such an amazing collection of vehicles. The massive locomotive is worth the visit alone. Love the model car collection and hot wheels stuff. Sketchy area but felt safe during the day. Even had old bikes and motorcycles and trucks. Something for everyone

A birthday surprise, and indeed it was! Could easily spend a whole day here and not even realize it. Every kind of transport is here, from crazy vintage bicycles to an actual Big Boy steam engine. All beautifully kept and presented. I left after several hours, planning the next visit. A hidden Colorado gem to be sure.

Very good museum. Various modes of transportation which makes the museum more interesting than just a car or train museum. Beautiful Cars, motorcycles and trains. Worth the stop

  • 5/5 Chris H. 1 year ago on Google
A Truly impressive Museum. Be prepared to spend at least an hour if not more, depending on your level of car interest. There's probably at least 150 automobiles. Plus at least 6 trains, a couple of planes, 50ish motorcycles, and buggies. At $15 it is worth the money to visit. Óverall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely, there's so much to see that you could easily miss things. On a side note: They have Amelia Earhart's car. Very cool.

This place was amazing! If you are looking for something to do in the Denver area, and you like cars, trains, motorcycles, bicycles, or anything cool or mechanical, add this to your list now! And, you can have private events there too so book a company party or something!

Really great place, thanks team. Loved talking about the Big boy train with one of the volunteers, I think his name was Carl. He really knew his stuff, you could point to anything on the engine and he could tell you all about it and then some. It was fascinating how he understood it all on such a scientific level. We will definitely be returning, thanks Forney for keeping these pieces of history alive.
