Had
an
Amazing,
Wonderful,
off-the-chart
FANTASTIC
experience
with
Discover
Diving
of
Western
New
York!!
From
the
beginning
…
what
better
Christmas
gift
in
cold
and
wintry
Buffalo,
NY
than
an
opportunity
to
get
in
a
pool
and
learn
to
SCUBA
Dive?!
This
was
my
gift
last
year
to
my
daughter!
The
classroom
training
began,
but
her
work
as
an
EMT
and
Firefighter
was
adversely
impacting
her
ability
to
attend
pool
training
sessions
as
the
first
two
of
four
sessions
were
missed!
DDWNY
was
awesome,
saying
“No
problem.
We’ll
work
with
you
to
schedule
make-up
sessions.”
Wow!
No
hassle.
Customer
focused!!
THEN,
one
of
her
Amazing
instructors
-
Jason
-,
being
sensitive
to
the
nature
of
a
first
responder’s
work,
(a
Marine
Corps
Veteran
himself,
so
he
understands
Service
to
country
and
community!)
really
blew
our
minds
when
he
offered
to
accelerate
her
make-up
lessons
by
doing
1-on-1
private
lessons
if
we
could
find
an
available
pool
facility
for
the
off-schedule
training.
We
worked
together,
coordinated
time
in
the
pool
at
Buffalo
State
College
(Thank
You
Buffalo
State!),
and
Jason
mentioned
that
if
training
was
complete
before
he
and
the
dive
shop
staff
left
for
their
Spring
trip,
my
daughter
could
do
her
open
water
certification
dives
in
the
warm,
blue
waters
of
the
southern
Caribbean…
if
she
liked
that
sort
of
thing!
🤣
Unfortunately,
the
trip
to
Bonaire
was
fully
booked.
😫.
She
finished
her
training
and
we
kept
checking
for
cancellations
due
to
COVID
or
other
scheduling
conflict!
Well
it
pays
to
be
well-prepared
by
DDWNY,
because
there
was
a
cancellation
and
we
were
able
to
slide
right
in!
AND
WOW
DID
WE
GET
LUCKY!!
Attending
the
second
week
of
a
two
week
trip,
guess
where
shared
accommodations
opened
in
that
second
week?!?
With
her
amazing
instructor
Jason
and
his
girlfriend
(who
is
an
awesome
cook
by
the
way!).
Two
hours
off
the
plane
and
my
daughter
was
heading
for
her
first
dive
with
Dive
Buddy
and
SUPER-INSTRUCTOR
Jason!
She
had
two
open-water
certification
dives
signed-off
in
her
first
half-day
in
paradise!!
Wow!
The
next
day
before
lunch
she
completed
two
more
and
was
officially
an
Open
Water
Certified
SCUBA
Diver!!
Then
the
fun
really
began!
The
DDNY
staff
had
coordinated
a
Night
Dive
at
a
site
where
she
had
done
training
dives
and
was
familiar,
so
along
with
Master
Diver
Bill
Enright
and
Super-Instructor
Jason,
she
joined
a
group
for
a
dive
in
the
dark!
She
was
a
little
‘underwhelmed’
because
‘she
couldn’t
see
much’
but
overall
thought
the
experience
was
exhilarating
she
had
another
unique
entry
for
the
Dive
Log!
Over
the
next
five
days
there
was
a
wreck
dive,
a
‘deep’
dive,
and
more
skills
toward
her
Advanced
Certification.
Scott
Brown
took
us
on
another
night
dive
(where
I
snorkeled
way
up
above)
during
a
peak
‘bio-luminescent’
event
where
Ostracods
light
up
the
water
like
sparklers
when
agitated!
EXTRAORDINARY!!
Owner
and
Instructor
Darryl
Edmiston
took
us
on
a
final
dive
(her
14th
in
6
days!!!)
where
she
saw
more
eels,
turtles,
and
frog
fish
than
many
divers
see
in
a
year
of
diving!
Darryl
and
wife
Marian
hosted
a
party
in
their
condo
for
the
whole
gang
and
it
was
a
really,
really
great
time
with
fellow
divers
sharing
stories
and
photos
and
tips
about
what
else
to
see
and
do
on
the
island
during
the
pre-flight
‘recovery’
day.
What
a
great
time!
Thanks
so
much
to
all
the
Dive
Instructors,
Master
Divers,
the
dock
and
boat
crews
selected
by
DDWNY,
to
our
fellow
divers
and
new
friends,
and
most
of
all
to
Jason
who
made
sure
it
all
came
together
from
beginning
to
end!
