It's my favorite place to go to when I pass through Derby Kansas. I have always stopped there over the past several years. Just outstanding food, love their chicken fried chicken. Breakfast menu is outstanding. It is nostalgic for me because of my grandparents living in Derby. There is a photo on the wall of some students with all school grades on it. I love looking at it because my grandfather is a child in the photo. It is that old. The atmosphere is wonderful and really just love that.

Seated fast, immediate drink order. Took awhile to order, our fault (large menu). Food came, delish. 2 breakfast, 2 b-lunches; all good, one to go box. Cash discount to all, up charge for card. Still military discount. Not a regular but always when son in town.

Love those cafe's tucked back in places off the beaten path. This neat Cafe has been around since 1945/46 and offers real home cooked meals. I ordered the 3 pc. catfish dinner and Man!.. It was almost too much! Large flakey catfish...the way catfish should be. Homemade fried potatoes cooked with bacon! Yummy. The walls had tons of nostalgia to look at while you wait. But we didn't have to wait long...

Dining here was so awesome. And yes they have discounts for our awesome Vets out there. The food down to the sweet tea was amazing. We ordered to go a few times since Dining in. We definitely felt right at home.

Absolutely horrible restaurant. We ordered from them thru Door Dash. We ordered the fried combo (okra, corn nuggets, and mushrooms), chicken fried chicken sandwich, and French dip sandwich. The fried combo was missing the okra and had fries and a few onion rings instead. The chicken sandwich was 3/4 bread even though we paid $1 extra for the 6 oz. piece of chicken. The French dip was just meat on a hoagie roll with no dipping sauce. No condiments were sent with any of it, so no ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc. Nothing to dip the fried combo in. I tried to call the restaurant and got a fax machine. I contacted door dash and they refunded me half the order. We are actually staying in an air bnb because we are traveling, so we had no condiments to eat any of this dry food with. The worst restaurant I've ever ordered from.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and I like all the pictures and photos on the walls. It gives the place a nice atmosphere. The food is really good too. I ordered three chicken strips and they were huge lol. I recommend this place to anyone.

If they are busy the food doesn't come out the best quality. Went for breakfast after church, and had to wait for a table. When my food did come out it was burnt. Instead of waiting another hour for them to fix it I ate the toast and bacon. It was delicious. This is a good place to eat, but when they are busy the quality goes way down.

Prices are a bit high but they have really good specials! Chicken Fried Steak was the best I'd had in a while, very tender and the sweet potato fries amazing. Skip the side salad unless eating iceberg lettuce and carrots (think bagged salad from the store) is your idea of a salad. The service is the best!

The food was good and the service was even better. We cam in with what is usually plenty of time for us to eat before closing but between a fussy baby and the abundance of food we ended up staying past closing. The staff was warm and friendly the entire time and never rushed us and was just so great. Would recommend and will be going back to try even more food!

Quick, kind service. Food was clearly fresh and hot. Grilled Chicken Chef salad had a hot grilled chicken breast cut up over the top and was quite large. The chicken fried steak is as big as a dinner plate and came with enough side to complement the meal nicely

This was an ok place. I ordered the Ruben with tots and my husband got a chicken Philly with sweet potato fries. When the food was brought I noticed a black hair under the side of pickle slices. So I just scraped it off. The sandwich itself was alright. The sauerkraut lacked texture and it's flavor. The tots were really good though. My husband's Philly was bland and was missing a flavor but I couldn't pin point it. They were really great with their regulars which was nice to see. I found it over priced for the quality.

Had the best Philly cheesesteak I've ever eaten in my life. Melissa was one of the best servers I've ever had. She never let my drink get empty, was fast and super sweet. Would recommend this place and the Philly. Ranch with the homemade fries was top notch as well!

One of my families favorite places to eat. It just reminds me of going to my grandma. We call it The Cafe. My kids always love going and the waitress remember us. Always so so so nice and usually remember how we take our meals. We will always return.

Had the mostest, biggest waffle and the server Melissa was incredible. That is a hostess that made such an incredible enjoyable brunch.

Ticket was itemized, final bill was not. Recommend checking menu prices carefully and meal descriptions because sides were á la carte from entrees—the open-faced hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was around $15.99, while the side of okra was $8.99, both large portions. A glass of soda cost $3.49. Everything was tasty, but I would have gotten a better value for my dollars spent if I had ordered brunch or one of the specials 😅.

This place was decent in the past. That was then. Went there this morning and seriously considered walking out after they brought me my plate. The eggs were good, but all else wasn't. They charged me $3.49 for a glass of tea that was nasty like most of my meal. Got my toast halfway through my meal. I recommend McDonald's over the riverside cafe.

Had the open face hot roast beef. One of the best I've ever had. Service was great. Will be back.

I don't give 5 star reviews ever and especially if I didn't get what was ordered but... This is the best breakfast I have had in years! Reminds me of mom's when I was a kid. I wanted sausage links and got bacon but it's so good I don't even care!!

Just solid food and decent service, old school feel. What more do you need? Come hungry.

Food was decent. Our waitress was spread thin but always helpful and was very nice. Lady at the front taking payment was unfriendly and rude. Ruined a pretty good overall experience.

We went to the Aviation museum, and afterwards went here to Riverside Cafe for lunch. Was perfect because they had some airplane decor as well, felt like the perfect pair to our afternoon out! Service was quick and food was so good. In the future if I were to order the bbq burger again, I’d get light bbq sauce. Was overall a great experience though. Thanks!!

Truly a diamond in the rough!! Unfortunately we only come through Derby a few times a year. Today we had empty bellies and many hundreds of miles to make for our return trip back home. Today's special of chicken fried steak and eggs won out for 2 of us. Let me tell you.... this tasty, giant sized portion is more than enough fuel to get you down the road let's not forget the eggs, hashbrowns and toast that accompany it!! This is a meal that could be shared between a "couple" even those (like us) who are on the plus side. Now my 6ft 250# 13yr old son ordered and devoured the chicken fried chicken sandwich. He chose tots as his side but couldn't eat them after inhaling his sandwich. We will definitely be stopping in more frequently on our trips through Derby. Thank you for a great meal and wonderful service Riverside Cafe!!

Riverside has a long tradition of being a simple family restaurant. I've eaten a Riverside for over 40 years now. Good every day food with great portions at fair prices. Still have punch cards to get a free meal. And the service is a breath of fresh air in these times of poor help most places.

Great service, the chicken fried is the bomb. Enormous portion. Very tasty. Chicken fried steak is so flavorful.

My friend and me ate here on 3-22-23, at about 11/11:30 am. We had the most delicious chicken fry, fresh out of fryer, mashed potatoes & gravy and green beans. Also a nice salad and hot rolls that tasted like they too were just baked. We couldn't wait to go back. Today we got chicken fry that was tepid and tough, not fresh cooked, loose fake potatoes and cold green beans. Salad was right out of bag, nothing added and the lettuce had brown edges. We had to ask for rolls and they said they'd microwave them. Center was doughy. Waitress was very nice and polite. We won't go back.

Very busy but waitress and servers were on top of it. I had a Reuben sandwich and hubby had a hamburger. My sandwich had a thick slice of corned beef, sauerkraut that was not too sour and thousand island on the side. One of the better Reubens I’ve had. Hubby’s hamburger and fries were decent

We eat here regularly and enjoy every visit. Can't go on enough about the service from the women who understand what real customer service is. I don't expect to get the world, just treat me like a person. They make you feel welcome.

The worse place to eat at and the food sucked and had to wait for an hour for our food. And when we finally got our food it's was not even cooked the way we asked for, maybe some training for the cooks would be a great tool to have for better quality of food. Serving raw eggs ciuld lead to someone getting very ill. a kid of 5 years old will cook better

Solid choice for a local diner! We have gone enough to be recognized but even still have been treated like a regular from the start-the food is consistently good, portions are large and the service is fabulous! It’s a great place to chill out and get a yummy home style meal. It’s always nice to see the folks from the Air-force and local policemen there, too!

Good food, order got a little mixed up but that was taken care of IMMEDIATELY. Service was great. Coffee never got below half cup. Was very pleased they serve PrairieFire Coffee. In my opinion the best around.

Perfectly prepared breakfast. I relaxed there for over an hour. Perfect for that. My tea was regularly filled by my wonderful waitress, Melissa. Everyone was so nice.

Ordered on DoorDash got 2 of the hungry woman subbing out the sausage links for either extra sausage patties or bacon, one with biscuits and gravy and the other with a pan. Received order and both meals had sausage links and all four were raw in the middle and the scrambled eggs were green. There was hair on the toast and the biscuits and gravy tasted like a cigarette ashtray. The other food that came with it just wasn’t good overall. I wouldn’t recommend eating here considering every time I try to give it another shot the food just ends up in the trash and money down the drain.
