There is a car park nearby that is literally 5-10 minutes walk away. DE4 4GT brings you to the car park. You literally come out of the car park, cross the walk way, and up the hill. The hill is a 5 minute walk. Steep yes. Short yes. Turn towards the forest. Don't climb up the rocks immediately, go through the forest for 10 seconds and it rises up, giving an easier pathway up to the rocks. An excellent view from up the top, but do be careful with children and animals and there are several gaps in the rocks with severe drops in between them. Worth a visit, but not an all day event.

Amazing views. We managed to climb up the rock and stood above, looking over the amazing scene. It felt unreal. Page of warning!!! The parking is coins only, and the cafe is closed for the autumn/winter months, so i couldn't get change. Just parked side of road, no signs or road markings saying otherwise. Everyone else parked there as well, all good.

They are black and rocky. There is a great view over the nearby towns. You don't pay to see them. We were on a walk, but there is a car park nearby (pay and display) and a coffee shop and toilets. We walked off down the ex railway track that is now an excellent path, with interesting notices about it's past

We took a short but steep walk up the hill with fantastic views at the top. There was an easier walk and a harder climb (which the teenager and dog loved to do). We came across a couple with a pram at the top of the easier slope and a mountain biker come down at real speed too. Great for all levels of fitness.

Was here last Thursday, after not visiting for some time and it never fails to leave me in awe. This is definitely one of my favourite country parks, so many walks and bike trails to embark on, with lots of beautiful scenery all along the way and boards telling you about the history of the area too. A real escape from the busyness of daily life and what better place than here.

Interesting place to visit and admire the views. Some people were rock climbing/abseiling. It is steep and the surface is some parts is loose stones. There are toilets nearby.

This area seems really popular with locals so can be relatively busy. I had a brief window of time to visit here, so I avoided the official car park which is cash payment only. I found some parking spaces close to the road. There is a fairly steep walk up to the base of the rocks. Depending how you arrive there you may cross some slippery loose gravel. The rocks are fairly easy to access with a number of routes to reach the top and get close to edge. In total I spent less than 30 minutes here. There are a number of walks and a picnic area if you have more time. There is also a Cafe and toilet building which were closed late afternoon when I arrived. Sadly other people do not seem to respect this area so feel they can leave litter everywhere. Amazing views from the top make it well worth a visit.

Great place to visit. If your parking an hour us all you need just for the top views. Once you walk up the two stair cases and across the top car park there is no signage that points to the black rock. Its the path behind you that ramps upwards.

First time visit, went early evening. No problem parking and not to busy. Watched some rock climbers going up the rock face. We decided to take the easier route. Granddaughter enjoyed the challenge. Well worth it for the views. Toilets and cafe near carpark, but are locked when cafe closes.

Big payoff of spectacular views for such a short - but very steep - walk. Not for small legs or those not steady on feet. Car park still needs cash (£4) but you can park carefully on the road for free.

A fantastic geological area Plenty of parking, some off road and a car park which is a pay and display, hard standing but no amenities here Plenty of paths throughout the area to explore Wonderful forest and a lovely walk up to the summit of the trig point Excellent views throughout the area

As many have said, car park requires cash and a little TLC . The walk up to the rocks is short but steep. The payoff is spectacular views. One downside is the amount of graffiti on the rocks, no need for it.

Great place to stop to walk/cycle the High Peak trail, the old Buxton to Cromford railway line. Good parking, including motorhomes, Pay & Display but good day rate. Toilets, picnic tables, cafe selling hot & cold drinks, ice cream & great cakes. Good access to Steeple Grange quarry railrail & Middleton engine House. A good day stop for families.

Quite small but great views and a good photo opportunity. Take change though as the parking machine doesn't take card and we got a ticket even though we were quick and it was Sunday afternoon.

Parked up in the pay & Display car park and had a lovely walk around the area. Boards dotted about to tell you the history, an interesting read 📚 Amazing views from the top of the rocks, lovely woodland walk around it ( watch out for slippery slopes and vanishing steps !! ) and logged another Trig 😁. Public toilets and a small shop at the carpark entrance.

Wow! What a stunning place to visit! The cafe by the car park is decent value and run by a very friendly and helpful lady who was able to give me antiseptic wipes for where I'd come off my mountain bike. Toilets were great as well and free. For mountain biking this place is incredible. It's steep, technical, challenging and you can't take your eye of the trails for a minute - we only explored for a few hours but we will 100% definitely be going back!

Took a walk here and it was steep for someone who is unfit but I made it and if you are a geocacher then there is an Adventure Lab app to do a nice route, such a beautiful walk (tip, the first one is the bench at the back of the bench at the stairs as you go up from the parking lot!!

One of 5 favourite places to go. Love the views I never get bored of coming here. Its a easy way up to the top. Plenty of walkways some hidden too. Beautiful forest walks. It's a nice place even if is rain or sunshine.

Beautiful place for a walk. Plenty of flat bits to walk along and up and down hill if you fancy more of a leg stretch. There is a cafe at the Black Rocks car park. You can walk towards the National Stone Centre from here. At present the car parking is £2.50 for two hours, £4.50 for four hours and £7 for a whole day. Car parking applies 24/7 365 I believe.
