We had dinner here tonight, the food was awful. They were only serving less than half of the menu “due to switching to their summer menu” which left us with very few options and no meal options at all. The crab avocado tostados are made with fake crab, which the menu does not state. They had no avocado on them. It was literally fake crab on a tostado with a lime on top, that was it. The Mexican street corn dip tasted like Alfredo sauce, nothing like Mexican street corn. I will say, I think everyone that got the flatbreads loved them! But everything else ordered was subpar, especially for the prices. The Brussels sprouts weren’t bad, but didn’t have much flavor. Desperately needed salt but our server didn’t bring salt until being asked many, many times. We were a large party so I understand her getting overwhelmed and forgetting. The service wasn’t great, but again, it was a large party with a lot going on. I’m not sure who they have back there in the kitchen, but seriously so disappointing. There was about 12 of us and I doubt any of us will be back. There was a great band and loved that but the music was so loud I couldn’t hear the person next to me so that was a little much. When we made the reservation if they would have just informed us that they were serving a limited menu, we would’ve gone somewhere else. Same with the tostados if it just said imitation crab, we never would’ve ordered them. Hope they improve because it’s a beautiful restaurant with so much potential. UPDATE * I didn’t see my actual bill because it was on a digital device. Additionally I could not hear a word she said either because again, the music was SO loud. Just checked my bank account and was over charged, maybe put someone else’s food on my bill, I dont know. I got the Brussels and a flat bread (sent the tostados back, she stated we were not charged.) and was charged $56, left a $12 tip, that was GRACIOUS for how we were served and was chargers a $20 tip. UNBELIEVABLE.

Awesome place with great downtown skyline views with amazing cocktails and food! We came here as recommended for a nice night out with friends. Loved sitting by the windows and looking out to the nighttime Downtown skyline! The cocktails are all so good and you cannot go wrong with any of the food choices. We were obsessed with the chicken and waffle tacos. (Even ordered a second round) we also had the curried calamari, pork belly, chicken and jalapeño wontons, fried sprouts, ahi tuna tataki, and bacon wrapped scallops. Perfect selection of small plates to share at our table and we loved every bite! At 8pm they had dueling pianos so we stayed to enjoy. We will definitely make this a go to spot for cocktails and tapas!!

Food was very good. But expected a really good view from reviews but was so disappointed because we were just overlooking the parking lot. And a big dumpster on the street. Was expecting this restaurant to be on the top floor of the building looking at dsm skyline instead of being on the first floor overlooking the parking lot. So 5 star for food but , 1 star for views

Just what Des Moines needs! A restaurant with great food, wonderful staff and entertainment while you eat! Live music, drag shows, Trivia, just to name a few. I’ve been here twice and both times had excellent food and great service! The themed drinks are so fun! The best view of Des Moines. Great date night or with a group. You can dress up and enjoy the night!

The food at Pura Social Club is amazing!! It is located in the Lyon Building in the east village overlooking downtown Des Moines. The chicken waffle tacos are by far my favorite so far with the black and Bleu beef skewers right behind 🤤. They have a variety of cocktails, the skyline martini was my favorite. Perfect place to meet friends, have some tapas, cocktails and enjoy the view!!

Elegant bar with some of the best views of downtown DSM. Food was delicious, just try their Thai curry sauces, makes everything taste awesome. Drinks were good as well but are basic, nothing super unique.

New place, great service, weird location but good view. Food was awesome definitely coming back. There's a stage too looks like there's live music some nights.

The food is out of this world and it’s hard to choose just one or two tapas off the menu. The drinks were Very well crafted. They had a true whiskey sour with egg whites. Definitely will be returning for the beautiful downtown Des Moines skyline view.

Friend brussel sprouts. Great. Salmon risotto .Bomb. Bacon wrapped scallops. Solid. Bathroom needs some work but I won't let that take away from the review.

The atmosphere was amazing. The salmon risotto was delicious!! The bird glass can be purchased to take with you. When the bartender didn't have all of the ingredients to make a beverage I asked for, she created a delicious drink with me in mind. The staff was very courteous. I will definitely return!!

I am both a patron of and musical performer for Pura Social Club. This is a beautiful venue with an absolutely stunning view of downtown Des Moines at night, excellent food and a tremendous environment for performing live music. Courteous and attentive staff too. Highly recommended!

It took us 15 minutes to get initial waters. It took us an over 45 minutes after that to get our drinks and we didn't get our meal until an hour and 45 minutes into our stay. I ordered the bacon wrap scallops and I was told we shouldn't order them because we're from Iowa and we don't have scallops in Iowa. I changed my order to the black-and-blue steak skewers with risotto. When we did get our meals it came with 2 small skewers of steak bites and some sort of a side salad. There was no risotto. No explanation to why. We were next to a table of 20 that came in 25 minutes after we were seated and they got their orders taken, served food, drinks and appetizers long before we did. Some of them were on their 2nd and 3rd drink before we even got our 1st. It's a great venue. A great spot to have a restaurant. I hope it works for you, but I have to say it was some of the worst service and food I've had. If there was an issue with Pura being under staffed or untrained staff, I understand. That is when owners need to step in and help their employees. I felt there was a sense the management and servers were floundering. It was very busy, a full house, there was live music it really could have been a fun, exciting evening. We were not the only people who had issues. There were people coming up to the welcome area looking for the host. Some people left without being served so it was not an isolated issue that evening. With it being such a new restaurant I would think the owners would have been there to make sure things are running smoothly....it wasn't. Very disappointing

Nice view and food was great. Good variety, my personal favorite is the brusselsprouts. The food is plated very nicely and always spot on. I have been there when they're extremely busy and on slower weeknights and the food is always hot and fresh. Staff is attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend.

We went for a late dinner & to watch a band. The band didn't show which was a let down but the staff made up for it by 1 free round of shots which was a nice curiosity. We ordered dinner to be told twice that they were out of what we wanted. Wasn't a big deal because we just picked something else. The food was presented beautifully but a lot of it was over Cookies. The fries & my crab cakes were burned. We didn't eat the fries and ate around the char on the crabcakes. ( still was good) All the other food was fantastic! - steak -Korean sticky wings -crab cakes The best part about the night was our waitress, she was incredible! We will be back to explore more of the drinks & menu. A great place to chill & have a goodtime!

What an amazing find! My husband and a good friend were looking for a good tapas place and came across Pura with great reviews. When Matt called to confirm my reservation and told me about the entertainers I said “we are in!” Our seats were ready for us with waters and menus already prepped for us. Seats were perfect! And the show!!! Omg the SHOW!!!! I would have paid to see the singers!!!! The food was so yummy and I’ll be singing and swaying to all the song in my head for days to come! Thank you for a FABULOUS evening! Service was exceptional as well. We will be back!
