Beautiful salon in a great location. It feels clean, which I really appreciate. Esther does an incredible job with make-up and brows, and my fiance has had great haircuts from others on staff. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

I had such a great experience at the Village Parlor! I often feel like nice salons can be judgmental, but the staff were so friendly and welcoming. My haircut with Ryan is EXCELLENT - he listened to what I was looking for, gave me his own thoughts based on my description, and we decided on something I felt really good about. My hair feels amazing now, this was definitely one of my favorite haircuts in recent memory.

Nichole is amazing - she is fun, not to mention wildly talented. This is definitely the best haircut I’ve ever had. I’m so grateful she was able to fit me in for an appointment.

Highly recommend! Fun, friendly service. Esther has done my lashes/brows a few times and has done an excellent job. 10 weeks later and my lash lift/tint is still holding strong. I saw Emily today and she's a color queen! I went there to have her fix an unfortunate highlight job but she did so much more to freshen up my look. Obsessed! Thanks Emily & Esther for keeping us looking oh-so-good!

For someone like myself who tends to neglect their hair, salons can feel like a judgey environment but I did not experience that here. The whole vibe of the salon is very welcoming. This experience made me want to return and get my hair cut more regularly. Another plus is parking on Kercheval is a lot easier than parking in other areas of Detroit. It's also located right next to Sister Pie so if you time your appointment right you can get some of the best bakery items in Detroit. Also, huge shoutout to Emily H who cut my hair. I can't recommend Emily enough. I will be back! Emma is also amazing and made me feel so comfortable and welcomed!

I mistakenly booked the wrong service for my last appointment but Emily was so accommodating. Despite the service requiring extra time, Emily never rushed and paid great attention to detail. She’s amazing at what she does!

I'm kind of on the fence about one of my experiences here from awhile ago. I have a fringe haircut and like most salons, VP offers free bang trims in-between haircuts (I tip quite a bit for the service even though it is free). I went in for this service and my bangs were clipped back as they had grown in. The stylist spritzed them with water and said they couldn't be tamed and wouldn't lay right when she combed through them. Bear in mind that I have straight hair and have had bangs for most of my life. The stylist said that I would need a hair shampoo for her to do the job correctly. I had to awkwardly ask if the wash was complimentary in which I was told that it would be $40. So already feeling awkward I asked if I could just get a small trim since it was $20 more as it seemed more logical. That day I was not prepared to get a haircut but in the moment couldn't justify wasting the stylists time slot or the embarrassment of saying no thank you. Since that experience I sadly haven't been able to maintain my bangs every month as I did before moving to the area. I now have a "why bother" attitude getting a haircut because I know that in a month the style will be outgrown. With all that said, my stylist is nice and does a good job and the atmosphere is inviting. Maybe it was an off day or there are strict rules in place by management..
