CAUTION! PLEASE READ! Upon arriving, the room was set to 73° but the temperature was 79°. The air conditioning was fixed when we returned to the room later that day. The room seemed clean and updated. Once we arrived back from a wedding at 12pm. The security guard gave us grief about the 4 of us going up to the room because we only booked 2 people there. I assured him that only 2 of us were staying in the room and the other 2 were leaving within the hour. The 4 of us decided to enjoy the river walk for about 30 minutes. When we returned, the security guard would not allow the 4 of us up to the room and only let 2 of us return to gather our things. My friend and I went up and got out loose ends. I personally stayed behind to shower and get ready for bed. While showering I heard someone yelling. The security guard had entered my room with a police office claiming that I was violating hotel policy by having too many people in the room. I was the only person in the room. While standing naked in the shower I asked the guard to leave my room so I could speak to them in the hallway after I was dressed. The guard insisted that I violated hotel policy even though I was the only person in the room and that he previously allowed 4 of us in the room for a total of 30 minutes. I not only was frustrated, angry, and upset but I myself, and my girlfriend felt violated by the security guard's lack of discipline and personal space. Overall, Robert's Riverwalk Urban Resort was wildly uncomfortable, disturbing, and overall a terrible experience. I caution anyone and everyone to book here.

This hotel is spectacular wonderful wait a second that would be if you were around about 40 years ago 50 years ago. This hotel is very old and dated lots of holes in the curtains, hooks broken off the curtains, and the curtains don't stay shut. Wallpaper peeling off the walls carpets not so clean. Book the night for $299 for the fireworks. Before the fireworks started they locked the door going out the back to the Riverwalk and area. Handicapped I had to walk up the stairs and then back down the stairs because that's how the buildings designed to go out around the building to the back to watch the fireworks. If you're handicapped this definitely is not the hotel you want to stay at. If you like an old worn out outdated hotel this is your place.

First off I want to say that front desk was very helpful with all of the issues that came up with our one night stay at possibly the cheapest (in the worst way) hotel. Some of the issues are because of a ton of late bookings that came up due to a show playing at the Masonic temple that night. Staff was doing the best they could to keep up. And did take a good amount off our bill at the end. But that is where the good stops. I have a feeling you would get charged x amount if you left the bed unmade upon checkout if they could get away with it! After we finally got checked in and went to the room, the room has no towels, no remote (minor inconvenience) the lock did not lock and the shower is the most confusing thing ever. The shower is a game of matching two turn handles to get hot or hotter and then not turning off. Still have zero idea how to do this. We left before it got fixed . Had to go on a hunt around the room for soap. Found some in the closet. The phone in the bathroom does not work. No clock. Overall just not a place that was kept up with. Severely lacking in most modern amenities. For the price and the location i was hoping for better.

The parking lot was chained off for the entire stay there. The phone number listed is to a CELL PHONE. Waited over 40 mins for booking. The hotel was completely locked and closed until 4p SHARP. Read between the lines on their website. It’s says “check out 11a SHARP” how hospitable does that sound???? They act is if they run a tight ship. When really they should apply that energy to renovations, housekeeping, customer service and technology…. Room smelled like mildew, old dirty furniture, dust, dirt, and grime. Terrible hotel accommodations, just shameful how their pictures make they place look luxurious, only to find out they cut corners at every turn… checkout was at 11a. I received 2 phone calls, and a knock at the door with a reminder note Slid under the door about late check out fees between 10:30 and 10:50a Rude and ghetto. So glad to check out, go home and take a shower. It was like paying for someone to treat you badly, in a dirty place.

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. THEY MADE ME CANCEL MY RESERVATION DURING MY TIME OF CHECK IN, TOLD ME I HAD TO CANCEL THE RESERVATION THROUGH A THIRD PARTY COMPANY, AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE SINCE. The “third party company” informed me that they would not be able to refund me until they confirmed my cancellation with the hotel, yet now no one can get in contact with them. I asked for a week to be contacted by the manager/ owner or whoever this lady is and I’m continually told she’s on vacation and not available. Needless to say, that $600 refund is out the window. YOU LOW DOWN SCUMS!!!!!!!! Negative stars should be an option!!

It has been absolutely terrible. I am booked here for 3 days, they told me I couldn't get more towels to ask again tomorrow, the room key deactivates each morning so you constantly get locked out of your room and have to get a new one made daily. The door locks at 11 and you have to stand by the front door and just hope someone sees you to let you in. No ice!!! No plastic ware for eating, no coffee makers or microwave in rooms, only half the outlets in the room work , the lamp and alarm clock don't even have an outlet near by to plug into so the room is super dark. I paid 1000.00 for 3 nights here plus deposit and it's as ghetto as the worst neighborhood in Detroit. Do not stay here!!

I was there 5-6 years ago to take the family to a Red Wings game before the demo of Joe Louis Arena. The room had bad plumbing, no air conditioning, garbage mattresses, and one set of towels. It was clearly located in a ghetto area even back then with non-existent police protection. Far worse today.

An overpriced room with coffee pot in room but no coffee - dirty sheets and shower curtain! In a ghetto neighborhood on a river. No ice machine. They put an extra $150 hold on your credit card as a deposit for "incidentals". Do not waste your time or money here, people!

Friendly staff, clean rooms, loved being on the river, felt safe as they lock the main door at night, lit parking lot, 11:00 checkout is wonderful! Wished the pool had been open though.. & there wasn't a fridge or microwave in the room & we stayed all weekend, would have been nice to have a fridge for leftovers or for milk, since they didn't offer breakfast. Otherwise we would definitely stay there again & recommend to friends.🙂

We booked a room for a single night to attend a concert down the street. Upon arrival, the parking lot was empty and with no signs of any guests other than a couple who had been waiting along with us to check in. The check in process was lengthy as our room was not ready by the 4PM check in time. The front desk ended up switching our room last minute, and then they had to personally take us (along with any other guests) up to get us into the room as the key card readers were not working. The thermostat read 87 degrees in the room when we first got in, so we turned on what we thought was the AC and then left for dinner. We had to wait a good twenty minutes when we arrived back from dinner to access our room as there seemed to be only one staff member working at the time to take us up and swipe her card (I did not get her name, but she was very polite and apologetic for the small inconveniences so far). When we finally got back into the room, the thermostat still read 87, so clearly the AC did not function. Our phone in the room did not work to call the front desk, so we planned to speak with the front desk as we passed to leave for the concert venue. There was a sign informing us that they were away for 5 minutes, but it was much longer so we left for the evening and then requested a room with AC when we returned for the night. They did very quickly, and without hesitation, find us a different room which was larger and had cold AC, so kudos to the staff for that! A couple other notes: The rooms are nice, but definitely could have been maintained better (residue in the sink and bath tub, hair on the floor, coffee pot in the room did not work, etc.) The vending machines in the lobby did not work either, and no room service was available, so bring a cooler with cold drinks and snacks! This is a lengthy review, but what we experienced is consistent with other reviews. The two front desk staff and manager that we had dealt with during our stay with were all extremely friendly and did do all that they could to make our stay comfortable. The building does have a unique and spooky feel to it, especially on the fourth floor with no one around!

i’ve been calling this hotel for 4 days and no one answers. Phone goes straight to voicemail and the voicemail is full. i’ve even started texting the number because it seems that it’s a cell phone. Checked in during the allotted time (there’s a surprise $150 deposit that they say you get back the next morning) then left to get dinner, when we came back the keys didn’t work for the room, desk staff didn’t place our paperwork in the proper place so they weren’t believing we’d already checked in. . after a solid hour of them trying to verify that we’d been there and paid the General Manager comes up several times check the keys, and check the lock that’s apparently broken. . they move us into their emergency” room . and says she’s going to cut our rate in half. . and in the morning I would see two reversal charges. However, floors were stained, lamps wouldn’t stay plugged in, holes in the wall, no kleenex, one towel and no soap. it’s now been 4 days of trying to get ahold of them for my refund of the deposit and my discounted rate, there’s nothing that even shows pending in the account. i’ve not been able to reach anyone. I love to support black owned businesses but this one needs to step it up.

The experience was trash fam. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Took 150 dollar deposit that the generic Martin Lawrence at the desk said I would get back. Left my room spotless and still got the 150 taken. Won’t answer the phone so I have no other choice but to fly from Charleston back to the D to give this Martin Lawrence wannabe a piece of my mind. Really have been itching to get back to my old ways!

Do not book this hotel! The worst experience. They are closed Monday - Thursday. They do not answer or take calls. I have emailed several times with no reply. We tried to change our reservation and there is no way to contact the hotel and we were charged the full price of the room which we did not use.

The view, the staff, the room.. All Amazing!!! Yes, our room did not have a coffee maker or refrigerator. There were no vending machines in sight. Things are closed off due to COVID. But for my husband and I, that made it so much better. Aaron and Sandy were two of the nicest people we have ever met. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, to make us feel at home. Which is what this hotel feels like, Home! If you are looking for your normal, basic hotel chain do not come here. You will not get that!!! Your room is not up to date!!! Your room will have high ceilings, old furniture and yes, wallpaper. That, for us, has what made this place so spectacular. This place is a beautiful gem with beautiful souls who care!!!

Weirdest hotel experience ever. First the parking lot was blocked off with chains and cones when we got there and had no idea where we were supposed to park. Then we get to the door and we can't even walk in. You have to ring the buzzer and wait for the one employee to come let you in. The clerk said it was chained off because he hadn't got out there to open it yet (that never happened it was blocked the whole time). Check in took about 35 minutes. Then they take $150 deposit on top of what you already paid. We get to the room and it looks like the door had been kicked in, the windows were cracked, the wall paper is falling off the wall, the TV hardly works, and the thermostat doesn't work. We go to leave and out of the front door and we are locked in. The front desk worker has to let you outside! You can't even walk in and out freely. There's no fridge, hair dryer, coffee maker, cups, ironing board, or iron in our room either. The staff that we encountered were nice enough but I would HIGHLY recommend that no one ever stays at Robert's Riverview.

We wanted something different, it has a vintage feel with a beautiful view of the river. We were able to walk everywhere we needed. It was clean and the staff was so friendly. Sandy, the GM was great too. It is an older building so some areas not to be perfect, but we didn't mind

There were nasty stains on the carpet. Ceiling peeling. Bathroom sink not cleaned. I was scared to put anything on the floor. The thermostat could not be turned down. I put my things on a desk - not to touch the floor. I checked out that night and had bug bites on my feet and ankles after only being there for 45 min. They offered to "change my room" - I wasn't taking any chances of bed bugs or a flea infestation coming home with me.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ .ᴄᴏᴍ when booking your stay. This site will compare hundreds of booking web sites and normally will have rooms much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the most well known in this area. I've been staying here for years. If you choose this place you will love it I'm sure! This is the only place I will stay when I am in this part of the state. The staff is absolutely amazing and made us feel like we were at home. Beautiful hotel!

I've given management plenty of time to respond but no luck. Calls weren't going through and when it did it would hit a full voice mail. No response to any emails or through their contact us option on their website. I was double charged and trying to resolve with them but eventually had to go through my bank to get it reversed. As for the actual stay. Initially we were told to follow to our room since they couldn't make the room card at that time, which is fine. But we walked into a room that already had guests. I booked a room with two beds and was given a room with one bed and a pull out sofa, that had no sheets and definitely aged. This room was not properly cleaned as it was wiped down in a hurry just before putting us in the room. I was then told that I would receive a partial refund for the issues and getting downsized without any notice but ended up with a double charged.
