Huge list of scratch made cocktails, we tried a few a piece and enjoyed every single one. Didn't have any food but the bar was busy on a Thursday with a mixed crowd of after work people and date nights out, like us. Staff was amazing and brought out a candle with a shot for my Fiance's birthday. Didn't ask for it but was much appreciated, can't wait to be back out next time in Detroit.

If you're here for unique cocktails good start. How about a bacon infused four roses bourbon with maple simple syrup, but wait have you tried the Benton old fashioned paired with the standby burger yet?! Standby is true to its name. It has been my favorite for years & comes highly rated. Reservations or first come bar seating when they open is highly recommend.

AMAZING old fashioned with bacon infused whiskey. Have had pretty much everything on the menu - all great. Dark and cozy perfect for date night. Incredible art and fantastic service. SO happy and grateful they made it thought this past difficult year and are open again. ❤️

Went to Standby few times already, never disappointed. Sometimes a short wait to get in after 10pm, but it's worth it. Great cocktail selection, even better mixology masters behind the bar. If bar hopping, this is the spot to refuel ;P for hour or two, drinks are good and strong, so know your limit it can catch up quick. Shout out to Josh!! You know your sh*t! Thank you for great cocktails and suggestions!!!! Josh, I told you, I wouldn't forget!!

The Standby is such a classy place to grab a fancy cocktail! Cocktails are crafted with the best ingredients and recipes. The food is also great to go with drinks. Definitely a must try while in Detroit!

This place has really upped its game since I last went a couple years ago. Drinks very creative and so balanced. Food was flavorful and pretty. Also some fresh ideas I haven’t seen before. Our foodie friend from out of town loved it. I’ll be back

We made reservations maybe an hour before getting here. We came here on a Staurday night and it was a decent crowd but we didn't have to wait to be seated. The dining space is pretty small, so some of the tables are less than an arm length away. Our server greeted us promptly and was very friendly and personable. We were pretty hungry, so we ordered a decent amount of food. The food came out pretty quickly and everything was really good! We especially enjoyed the Korean wings and coconut calamari. The cucumber salad was refreshing, and the Arancini was very yummy. My husband said his burger was a tad salty, but I think he liked it. The Jalapeños cheese dip for the pretzels was a little too thick for dipping, but we liked the fresh homemade pretzels. I really enjoyed my mushroom tostados, and the dessert was fine, but probably not anything I would order again because it was a bit too dry for my liking. Atmosphere: Trendy bar Vibes. Music is pretty loud, so be prepared to speak up to be heard. The lights went out at 10 pm, so it was pretty dark, but we survived. They do validate parking, so that was appreciated. All and all we enjoyed the food and good service so we will be back.

Food was really good but the service wasn't. It didn't seem understaffed to me. Had to wait for the cocktails for about half an hour. Just to give order, I had to wait for 15 mins. Cocktails were average. Tables were too small and so did the plates. 1 chicken wing couldn't fit in it. I was struggling to eat the wing on this undersized plate. They gave a butter knife instead of a meat knife. Pork gnocchi was really good and flavourful. Lastly after waiting for almost 50 mins, I got the pork skewers. They were awesome and flavourful too. Loved it. I would like to give 5 stars for the food but the service disappointed me.

One of the best cocktail bars I’ve been too in my life (and trust me, I’ve been to a lot!) Service was phenomenal; our bartender Josh was am absolute gem. And the cocktails were perfect !!

Stopped in for an impromptu dinner while visiting Detroit for a conference. I was pleasantly surprised by the classy, modern atmosphere then surprised again by the sophisticated cocktail menu. Every drink had an interesting and complex twist on a classic drink. I ordered the Dog Days Negroni with a burger for dinner. The burger was cooked exactly as I ordered and topped with delicious sauteed mushrooms. The cocktail was, hands down, one of the best negronis I've ever drank. I will be visiting again when I'm back in Detroit and encourage everyone to give this place a try.

Amazing bar! First time in Detroit we stumbled on this cool looking alley with lots of people and great night life. Saw this spot at the end of the alley and we had to check it out! Josh behind the bar served us some fantastic cocktails. Ask for The Last Word if you wanna taste a Detroit classic. Their drinks are crafted with some really unique flavors and the bartenders keep it entertaining. Definitely a place you gotta go! Drinks are strong, music is good, bartenders are dialed in 🔥

What a great find in downtown Detroit in Belt Alley. If you aren't familiar with this area it has beautiful art from around the world on the buildings in the alley. There are lots of dining and drink establishments to choose from, very cool very hip. Standby looks good, the greeters are friendly and the waitress was so thoughtful with her description of the menu and drink choices. The food is small plate , limited in number of choices but you should try everything that strikes your fancy, be ause nothing was a disappointment.

Every cocktail we had here was incredible, the only downside of this place is that we had to leave! Fun vibe and knowledgeable staff as well. Plus they even had merch!

Try the tangerine gimlet!! We love Standby for a night cap, but have also been by for drinks earlier and dinner, too. The food is great, and the craft cocktail menu is long, offers a variety and is fun to read through. They play loud, good music and it’s dark and quaint - nice escape from the busy alley outside. We popped in randomly one night recently, probably around 8:30/9pm and didn’t have trouble getting a spot at the bar.

10 of 5 Stars. I used to frequent Republic Tavern before it closed but I think I filled that void ten fold with Standby. What the entire eff. I had the Feelin’ Like Popeye, The Tick of the Clock and the Lamb Kabobs and could have died and gone to heaven with no RAGRETS (-Scottie P). Both the people on each side of me got the kabobs and I was on the verge of just ordering about 3 options because it all sounded delish. So glad I went with the guy’s suggestion. He was kicking his leg like a dog getting a belly scratch and the female next to me cleared her plate before him. Can’t pass up that sort of reaction in an atmosphere like this. I mean they played all Kanye jams…loud! Everything about this joint is A1, including the bartenders mustache. I will be back.

Was not expecting to like the food as much as I did. We plan to make this a recurring stop downtown. Quality cocktail menu, really thoughtful drink recipes...but it's the surprisingly fresh unexpected small plates that are bringing me back. As an example, I have yet to ever have a grilled salad I liked...until here. Seems the menu changes often too. Love it.

It was my first time here to celebrate my mom’s birthday and service is 10/10, food 10/10, drinks 10/10, atmosphere 10/10, and location 10/10! They had a great happy hour and I definitely will be back. Our waitress, Brandy also deserved a 10/10!

The menu isn't huge, but everything we had on it was fantastic, the drink menu is huge and unique and amazing - cool atmosphere too.

Fabulous. Cocktails are hand-crafted and on-point. Food is mostly small plates and delicious. Loved the bitterballen, you don't find that very often in the U.S.

We came to grab a quick drink for my anniversary. The staff was awesome. They even played music from one of my favorite artist. This place is very intimate and great for conversation. I would come back for the atmosphere

The menu was intriguing but the food was average. The drinks also had good concepts but it off the 3 I tried a weird after taste followed. The atmosphere and location, however, were ideal written visiting the Ð

Worst service at edger. Their response to sickening chickening was” oh sorry you medium it! It’s still fricken clucking!

Perfect for an intimate date night or night out with friends. Always fun to get a spot at the bar to watch the bartenders do their magic. Cocktails are amazing.

Great spot conveniently located in the Belt. This craft cocktail 🍸 pub has a speakeasy vibe but is very welcoming. Of course, the spirits are on point; the service is stellar.

Corner location upscale atmosphere tucked in the alley way. Interesting appetizers good sharables. Staff was kind and unorganized we finished the apps before our drinks came. Sticky floor was a added treat.

Ambience was great. Nice selection of music, and it had a super intimate feeling. Drinks were SUBLIME. I ordered four of them, lol.

We've enjoyed some wonderful experiences at Standby - and our most recent experience was the best yet. Their cocktail menu is my favorite in the city - so many impressive options, and each drink we had was truly special and delicious. The food menu is equally satisfying.

A small intimate bar, great for dates. Food is always explosively addictive, drinks are always better than average and the service... the service.is ALWAYS amazing. It is small though; they have wall couches and it seems like they play 90s / early 2000s music. Highly recommended, perfect place for a date or pre game before a lounge/night bar.
