Whats more Detroit than getting a picture with the spirt of Detroit. A historic landmark in the city. You never have to wait too long for a picture.

Coleman A Young plaza has this Bronze statue called Spirit of Detroit. Small, beautiful park encloses this statue. Right in the heart of Downtown Detroit. Other iconic buildings such as GM building looms over this small park. Worth a stop if you are in the area. The Bronze statue is beautifully done.

This sculpture is a great depiction of life. I love Detroit and the strength of the people here. This is a classic statue and landmark of Detroit, if you're visiting Detroit you have to come here for sure. You should also check out Bell Isle right up the road. It's a great part of Deteoit and super beautiful.

We visited the downtown area of Detroit. The area was very clean and safe. We visited many monuments in the area. The lack of crowds, was very nice :)

A beautiful bronze statue dedicated to the city of Detroit. Interesting to see closeup. The Spirit of Detroit" is a Detroit icon, synonymous with the city itself and the dedication of those who love the Motor City. You’ll see this statue pictured and printed on many city pamphlets, tour guides etc… The bronze monument sits on a 60-ton marble base and is in front of the Coleman Young building. Near Hart Plaza. Metro Detroit sculptor Marshall Fredericks was commissioned in 1955 to create the piece. The 26-foot bronze monument was the largest cast statue made at that time. The “Spirit" cost $58,000 (about $467,750 today, when adjusted for inflation) to erect. The statue's left hand grips a gilded sphere emanating rays that symbolizes divinity, while its right hand holds a family, which symbolizes all human relationships.

One sees images of this before most sports games on television in Detroit and you forget how big it is in person. There's a nice playground/picnic area as well.

Fantastic sight to see. Very large statue. During hockey season, they dress this status with RedWings clothes. Cool. Every year they update/paint this statue. I've never seen it vandalized. Impressive. There are lights at night too. Highly Recommended!

What a beautiful monument done by the sculptor Marshall Fredericks that I’ve seen his work in the SVSU museum in Saginaw.

A larger than life statue of Man's connection with God and family stands in the very downtown area right by the Hart Plaza at the beginning of Woodward Ave. Beautiful copper-gold piece of art and great photo op.

I still remember to this day a little girl (37 years old now) always going downtown and love to walk pass this statue and the Joe Louis fist and arm going to the Hart Plaza. It brings so many memories and just Love calling Detroit home. I live out of state now but I do look up the city just to see the statues. After all these years the statue still looks good. Detroit will always be home.

I love everything about the spirit of Detroit! I love the faith base significance "where the spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty" the scenery is everything and more. Also I loved the activity and music going on.

We were so bummed this summer to not be able to get closer to the Spirit of Detroit but I was able to catch a quick snap of the kids near it. I’m happy to see some work being done to keep this monument in good condition.

Fast service, everything is easy to find. Also it's great that this site has medical personnel there. I witnessed a man fall out of his chair and without a doubt a lady in blue scrubs sprung into action along with pedestrians. I think that it's a great idea they take the extra step to make sure Detroiters are safe. I feel better knowing that if myself or my loved one had a medical emergency or accident people like that are employed there. They also screen for covid19 and with the cases going up it's better to be safe than sorry

They need concrete, and I pour concrete! There's a lot going on in front. They close the streets off to pull in a variety of lunch trucks. You have campus marsh across the street with the old Boblo boat which I think serves dinner Mysteries. The debates are going on at the fox so there's lots of camera Crews down here. They rent scooters and bikes. You're blocks from the stadium. There's a lot of good restaurant bars and a good view of the river.
