The best thing I can say about this place is it's a great location. The rooms used to be cleaner, but I can't say that this time. It's close to convenience stores and late night food. My personal experience is that this is where people stay when they're going to some sort of party event. Comicons, concerts, and furry conventions. It's quiet enough, except during our last stay, there was this steady tapping sound coming from the ceiling that was hard to sleep through. I think you could have a better experience somewhere else for similar costs. Not terrible, couldn't really recommend it unless budget is a top priority. They do have a complimentary shuttle as well

To Whom it may concern, I am writing to advise you and your company of my recent interaction with your Hotel and your staff. I had made a reservation in advance at your Downtown location in Detroit. 3250 E Jefferson Ave, Detroit, MI 48207 I drove from Ohio to Detroit on 8/13/21 with the expectation that I could check in and rest before I attended the Tigers game. That by far was not what I encountered. I arrived at 2:00 p.m. and was told by your Front desk agent that my room was not ready and that I should come back in an hour. I left and returned at 4:00 p.m., still with the expectation that I could rest and bathe and prepare for the upcoming game at 7:30 p.m. Your Front desk agent checked me in, took my deposit, and gave me the key to my room. I then went straight to the room, the door to the room was wide open, trash on the floor, the beds had stained sheets and mattresses, were not made, the room was in total disorder and had an extremely foul smell. I have attached a picture to confirm my claim. Immediately I head back down to the front desk, and this time I was met by the Manager. He had an immediate attitude, was aggressively rude, non empathic, and raised his voice at me. He stated " I don't know why the system says the room is clean and it's not." I have worked in Customer Service for over 25 years, blaming the system is a cop out. Clearly the system is broken, but as a human being and in a management role it is your responsibility to know your staff and to follow up when you know there are system issues or when your staff is running behind schedule. He then says you have two choices, you can wait until I have a clean room or get a refund. Of course after his non-concern and un-empathic response, I choose the refund. The most frustrating thing is never once did I receive an apology. This was my first trip out of state since Covid. I am originally from Michigan. I was going to visit family and friends the following day, however I ended up having to drive back to Ohio after the Tiger's game therefore ruining my plans and making my trip a nightmare. I wanted to express to you my concerns and how unsatisfied I am with my experience with your Hotel and staff.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! We payed a fortune just to be put into the cellar without a window. The hallway smelled like wheat and even though it’s a non smoking facility our room smelled like cigarettes. Also the location is horrible. You’re set in the middle of a mediocre ghetto and you definitely don’t wanna go outside at night. Plus our room wasn’t clean and the shower was about to fall apart.

Hands down the WORST hotel I have ever seen. The attendant took about 30 minutes to get me checked into this nightmare of a hotel. The room was so filthy, I immediately checked out. The room smelled like urine, the carpets were super filthy, broken furniture, just yuk! I wouldn’t let a dog stay in this hotel. The health department absolutely should shut this hotel down. It’s just that horrible. It does not deserve a one-star rating.

This was honestly one of the most disgusting hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I would never recommend staying here. The rooms were not kept up, clean and the bathroom had mold and grime all over. There were cobwebs throughout the room and it smelled like smoke. Service was kind of poor, their system crashed during check in and seems to be a recurring issue, breakfast area was so small we couldn’t even sit down so we didn’t stay. Overall this hotel needs to fix a lot of problems and get some serious cleaning done.

We paid for a "suite". The room was no bigger than any other room we walked past. It was next to the house keeping closet so there was constantly a cart sitting outside our door. The "couch bed" was 3 stiff pieces of furniture pushed together - no bed aspect. The air wasn't on when we checked in so the room was uncomfortably hot and it took hours for it to cool down. There was NO air flow in the bathroom so it was hot the whole time. Pieces of the paint in the bathroom were chipping/falling off. The water came out brown from the sink the first time it turned on, the tv didn't turn off and the office chair was ripped/broken. The parking lot is far too small for the amount of rooms so get a spot early. Overall, bad experience and would not recommend.

We stayed at this hotel and it was disgusting. There was a cockroach in our room. We found an old rib bone wrapped in a napkin that had been there for a while and none of the corners or under things were swept or vacuumed. They also gave out a key without any proof of the person being in the room. The hallways were over 100 degrees because the air conditioner vents are in the hallway and pushing heat. Our room was at least 85 degrees when we arrived. I called management and they said because we booked through a 3rd party we couldn't get a refund but would offer a free stay. I wouldn't ever even stay for free it was awful and I can't believe Baymont or Wyndham would put their name on this hotel. When I called the manager regarding the cleanliness of the room he said they do not have complaints of dirty rooms. Well your reviews say otherwise. The manager didn't care about customer service either. I will say the person who checked us out was very nice and apologized about the room but clearly if management does care it wont be fixed. Oh also 2 towels in the room and we were told if we brought them ours they would wash and dry them and bring them back and they had no other towels also said it would only take 30 minutes. I don't know anywhere that you can wash and dry towels in 30 minutes.

Never will I ever stay here again. Location is horrible. It was not a clean sanitary place to actually stay. Bathrooms need a deep clean. Bed is not sturdy. Toilet clogged when we returned from the concert. Tv remote was missing. The whole third floor had a hearing issue it was hot as hell on the floor until you get into your room when the AC didn’t work properly either . Reported to the office and nothing was fixed besides brining a remote to the tv. I only booked because of a discount from my job but I say abort as soon as you get there. We left the next morning hours before checkout just to get a little rest before hitting the highway back home.

Please do not stay here. The workers were nice, but Wyndham needs to know this is not acceptable. The halls smelled very strong of urine and smoke. The rooms had huge signs of neglect and a lack of cleaning. The sheets were stained or actively dirty. The beds were way too soft in a way that felt gross. It was the worst 4 nights of sleep I've had in ages.

Don’t let the online images fool you. The outside looks like a decent place but inside was terrible. Seems it was an old motel converted to hotel, so the hallways are well over 100 degrees from each rooms A/C exhaust blowing into it. Our room smelled like stale liquor, the sheets were stained, and bathroom was dirty with leftover hair smeared within the shower tub. We quickly left and did not stay.

I know it's a cheap option, but still I'd like to see some minimum standards. I got new towels most of the days but as far as I can tell nothing was cleaned. The rooms need to be renovated, which would be OK if it was properly cleaned. However, I encountered different kind of bugs in my room while I was staying. The room smells of cold, age old smoke when you enter and the airfreshner was not applied.

Ok for a nights sleep but if you want a shower better get used to boiling hot water or super cold nothing in between. Get switched rooms and the same thing happens. Hotel staff made it seem like my fault. Don’t remember her name but it was a super tall black chick. For 130-140 a night I definitely won’t be staying here again.

If I could give a 0 star I would. The shower had zero water pressure, the shower head was detached from the wall and I could push it inside the drywall. There was no garbage can at all as well as half the outlets weren't functioning. The bathroom door had a hole patched from where it looked like someone punched a hole through it. The people at the desk don't check to see if you are a guest or not so you can ask for any room card and just get a card to any room you want whether you are a guest or not. Awful experience. Do not go here!

Rooms are disgusting. Shower has no hot water. Extremely tight and small for the price. And getting towels is impossible. Check out is 11:00am and I’m told towels won’t be to my room before that. They advertise WIFI but there’s no WIFI. Had to work from my hot spot in my mobile device. Check in was easy and the girl was polite. But never again will I stay here. Nor would I recommend any one else stay here.

Location was very sketchy. All gas stations had cameras with blue flashing lights. Residential homes a few blocks away all had metal bar doors over their normal front doors. Though it is near the riverfront, it is not a good area. Safety lock in room was busted off, paint was peeling off the shower ceiling, lamp was broken, lobby smelled like cigarettes, dining area was very small relative to number of rooms. We left without staying.

To make a long story short. Checked in here wasn't even an hour until we seen a bedbug on the bed. Killed it and my husband kept it to show the worker. She told us to call the hotel customer service to get a refund. We lefted and called, and the guy said it's the hotel policy no refund and so he said let me call the hotel. He caled us back right away and said the Lady said they have no bed bugs and that we can't get a refund. This hotel is a joke!! Don't stay here even if its free!!! The bathtub was nasty and the shower rod was hanging off the wall. Bad customer service. We just wasted our money on something that wasn't even our fault. They should be ashamed!!!!! Telling everyone about this one.

Was there last weekend. At first we were like..uh oh. But the rooms were clean. It's an older hotel, but no issues. The free shuttle service to downtown is a great bonus. Ken the shuttle driver is awesome. The area is quiet. All in all, a good experience.

I didn't stay there but my daughter did, or didn't rather. she called to confirm this morning that she would be there before midnight and when she got there they had cancelled her reservation and sold her room. now she is trying to figure out a place to stay for the weekend. reading the other reviews it seems Iike a good thing. I am starting to rethink wymdom rewards.

Stayed here for my daughter’s wedding at the Detroit Yacht Club. Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Hotel was dirty. Sheets appeared to be clean. The wall in the bathroom had what appeared to be dried vomit by the toilet. One of us was on crutches. They put us on the third floor, with no elevators. Wasn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed at, but the worst one was also a Wyndham by the airport. I will be staying away from Wyndham hotels going forward. They obviously do not have a set of standards that must be maintained.

Overpriced, dirty, ridiculous property! At some point, this property had rooms that opened out onto open hallways. Then someone got the idea to enclose those open hallways. Now the AC units exhaust into a closed hallway. It's just awful! The rooms were gross, the bathroom in disrepair, water unlawfully hot! Carpets filthy, dingy paint. The worst experience in 4 weeks of travel. Only savings grace was the absence of bugs! I would not stay there again.

4/9/2022-5/1/2022 The whole saying you get what you pay for is very true. The service was really good, the young lady that helped us was very respectful and kind. The room was....alright. There wasn't a mini refrigerator or microwave in the room. The shower pressure wasn't that good and the water was warm in the shower. The toilet was messed up. The location of the hotel was good, most places was in walking distance and close to the board walk.

Easily one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. My room smelled like cigarettes and weed and the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, and the bathroom floor had stains all over it. I was honestly disgusted with the entire experience. This made me never want to go back to a Baymont hotel ever again.

Well, what do you expect? It's a hotel in the ghetto, for Christ's Sake. It was a little dirty, no microwave, no fridge, carpet frayed in some places, but at least it had a decent bathroom and shower, something I COULDN'T get at my Sister's house. The free breakfast was O.K. no bacon or sausage, though, but AWESOME Orange juice!!!

This hotel has nice people working at it and they provide a free shuttle which is just amazing BUT... it is very run down and the smell of pinesol is absolutely overpowering. It is clear they try and make the place smell clean to cover up the smells from the past. This was clearly a smoking hotel before it went smoke free, and the first room we were assigned smelled so so bad, pinesol and stale smoke, it was truly overwhelming. I asked for a room that didn't used to be a smoking room and we were moved to a room that only had the overpowering smell of pinesol. If I thought I could have had my money returned and found something better I would have, but all hotels in the area were booked up. As much as I appreciated the staff at this place it just isn't clean, it needs a complete reno, the carpet in the rooms must go and they need to do a deep deep clean and refresh before this is a place I would ever stay at again. I do not recommend this hotel.

Overall great hotel for a short cheap stay. Worth its price, pillows were a little small. A great bonus was the free shuttle that took us to Little Cesar's arena! Breakfast was pretty bad, no options, no waffle mix, broken toster, rock hard bagels. Other than that, it was a great stay. Would recommend just don't eat breakfast.

Just stayed here for a Student Symposium in town. The place was pretty worn down (it looked to be VERY old), but everything functioned nonetheless. But on the third day we found bed bugs in our room, and they were willing to move us to another room but we didn't want to move to another room that might have had more bed bugs. Overall they had breakfast, it's in a nice location (bricked-in, tucked away from the main thoroughfare), and it was a place to stay; but a very nasty surprise at the end. No hotel should have bed bugs. Period.

Overall my wife and i had a good stay. Was nervous at first being downtown detroit you never know what your really getting. My wife and i felt safe in the area even coming back to the room at night. Room and bedding were clean no horrible smells stains of any kind. The beds are a little on the small side only being fulls not true queen size but still comfortable. The rooms appear to have been upgraded to a degree recently the bathrooms do not appear to have been updated. They were not gross but you can tell they are older than the main room. For the price and ease of getting to and from our sporting event on their free shuttle will absolutely stay here again. Being just a short 3 or 4 min shuttle ride to little Ceasars, Ford feild and tiger stadium and walking distance to the river.

Highly recommend you do not stay at this hotel. As soon as you walk in, the smell hits you. It smells of mold, body odor, and cigarettes. It was also extremely hot on the second floor. The a/c in our room worked but was so loud you could barely sleep. The bed sheets were stained and didn’t even look washed. When we went to call the front desk with the hotel phone, it didn’t work. The bathroom was decent but the water pressure in the shower fluctuated every time someone in the hotel flushed a toilet. If you respect yourself, don’t even bother considering this hotel for your next trip.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! We arrived and walked out immediately. The bed was slept in and the room stunk. Then we demanded our reservation be cancelled. THEY STILL CHARGED US FOR 3 DAYS AND WE DIDN'T EVEN STAY A SINGLE NIGHT. Visa says 'too bad for you. There is nothing we cat do.' I have the whole conversation recorded.

This was by far the most filthy, dirty, disgusting, hotel I’ve ever stayed at! The hotel was advertised as non-smoking, but reeked of cigarette smoke and marijuana throughout the entire thing! I was so disgusted that I slept on top of the blankets of the bed, fully clothed, and felt like my skin was calling the entire time! I would absolutely never recommend this hotel to anyone, and will never stay there again! It was freezing cold outside, and we had no heat, there was no hot water, and the shower was literally black and filthy dirty! The carpet was black and very worn, and the entire building smelled of cigarette smoke and mold!!

This hotel is probably one of the worst ones I've ever stayed at. The whole place was absolutely filthy and run down looking. Out of the four days I stayed there I could only shower once when I managed to get luke warm water for a few minutes. That was the only time the water wasn't cold. I went to the CVS next door to buy slippers because my feet turned black from walking on the carpet in the room. One of the beds in the room was broken, all of them were uncomfortable, our friends room was missing the fridge. The security doors didn't work half the time entering and exiting the building. The sheets were dirty and when I asked for them to be changed I was handed a handful of 'clean' sheets that were stained and thread bare too. There was a hole in the wall where the AC unit was. There were broken hallway windows and filthy carpets leading up to the rooms. Every room looked like it had stuff spilled or thrown at the walls that was never cleaned up. The bathroom doors all had black dirt marks on them. The only good thing about this hotel was there were no bed bugs, CVS is next door, and the sub shop in front has good food. That's it.

This was the absolute worst hotel I have ever almost stayed at. I say almost because we checked in, saw the rooms and immediately got another hotel. The rooms smelled like weed, were dirty, and completely awful. We immediately felt unsafe. We left the keys on the tables in the room and did not checkout at the office. We got a call later asking if we had been to the room because the door was open. We did not leave the door open, so this means someone had been into our room while we were gone. Thank goodness we got another room.

Worst hotel stay ever! Room was very old! Hot tub had chips all over it and had been painted over many times. The hot tub was also too high to get up into and out of. The carpet was all nasty in front of the hot tub. The bathroom was updated but there is a 2 inch step to the bathroom that trips you. The bath tub and sink had hair left over. The toilet had to be flushed 3 times after every use. There is no refrigerator, microwave or sitting chair. The breakfast was small and so low quality!! And the topper was only one ice machine and it was broken. When we asked the desk about ice we were told that we could walk to CVS next door and buy a bag of ice at our expense. We walked past many rooms that were not being used that had nice updated hot tubs. I made my reservations months ago and paid a lot of extra because there is a concert on town. I will never return!!

The people leaving negative reviews here are cleary not from the area. While this is not a luxury hotel by any means, its definitely not as bad as some have made it out to be. Our party of five stayed in the suite here and found it very reasonable. The price is far lower than many other hotels down the road. The hotel itself is dated but the price reflects that. The neighborhood isnt great but this isnt the suburbs, its Detroit. If that makes you uncomoftable, this isnt the place for you. Our car was visible from the room and I felt safe parking it there and coming in and out. Secured entrances and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and spacious. I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

Was a good room for a short stay. Check in was quick and room had all amenities advertised. Room was as expected for the price. Staff was professional and helpful. Room was super cheap and room smelling like cigarettes was the only issue we had but smell lessened as AC kicked in.

My hot tub room had a cracked mirror with tape on it and my t.v doesn't work was told it would be a half hour before maintenance could check it out. My 20$ worth of bath products wasted so far due to me not being able to jump in Wish I could post pictures

  • 2/5 Kelcie H. 1 year ago on Google
Our experience was not the greatest. The bathroom smelled like vomit, the hot water in the shower didnt work, the rooms were freezing, tvs did not work, and the walls were so thin you could hear every little noise outside of your room...including the room right beside ours that were screaming at 1230am. Not impressed, and would definitely not recommend especially if you have a child with you like we did. The only good thing was the hotel was so close to the event we were attending.

Room filthy. Sheets questionable with regards to cleanliness. Had to wipe down entire bathroom. Toilet had hair and had never seen a toilet brush. Most disturbing is that the clerk sent me to two different rooms with broken locks also seemed to be in kahoots with several young men just hanging around. Once I secured a room with a working lock young men left and I placed a chair in front of the door. I doubt if I get much sleep tonight. Booked for 2 nights but will be checking out as soon as possible in the morning. The room smells like an ashtray. NOT SAFE and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Booked 2 rooms for $174 each, neither of them were clean. One shower was still wet from the people who stayed before and the other shower had hairs in the tub. I also found an empty 2 liter under one of the beds. Met a woman on the shuttle who stayed at the Baymont years prior and they decided the comfort inn was a set up compared to this place.

The location of this hotel was decent to downtown and surrounding areas. It is located on Jefferson but it is behind other buildings. There is a sign visible on Jefferson and it's easy to find. Parking is a bit tight especially with a larger vehicle. The service and workers at the hotel seem very good and friendly. We did get back one night and couldn't get in due to our key cards not working. They were helpful and gladly fixed the problem immediately. They are very nice and friendly. The property itself is quite tired and seems as if quite a bit of it is in need of maintenance. There is a free breakfast in the lobby each morning. It was decent, but it seemed a bit dirty within the eating area. They have a waffle maker, yogurt, cereal, sweets, juice, coffee, fruit and like minded items. There did seem to be coffee each time I went for it no matter the time of day....that was nice. It's lodging....in a busy City. There is bound to be things overlooked. It does need some attention to detail and maintenance though. We did enjoy our time in Detroit! If you are looking for basic lodging and don't mind some of the maintenance/cleanliness issues this may work for you. The price was affordable. The staff does make you feel welcome! There was also a shuttle service from late afternoon until midnight. It was one reason we picked this hotel. We never did get to use the shuttle service. The front desk said they couldn't reach the shuttle service and hopefully it would be back in service soon. We never found a time it was in service.

That hotel was very disgusting, everything was dirty, our beds were filthy, you can tell that the blankets were not washed. Also there was food on the floor when we walked in. The smoke alarm was hanging with no battery in it. And there was NO hot water!! We decided we were NOT going to stay the night. And to top it off, when we told them we were leaving they could not refund us, I had to call the 3rd person to whom I reserved it from, and I did just a few minutes ago and of course they can’t refund me..I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone!!

No fridges in room, leave you very little tp and towels. Had to go to lobby to ask for more in the AM but I missed breakfast and they had a small bag of items stashed away and it was nice to have that. Small rooms. Great crowd when events are in town, they don't bug you if you and your friends are being rowdy which is cool if your into that. I had a good time there.

  • 1/5 Rachel F. 2 years ago on Google
The absolute worst hotel I have NEVER stayed at. Checked in to this hotel for a AMA Supercross race, went up to the room (walked up 3 flights of stairs because there was no elevator) and immediately went to check out. The room smelled like a cigarette was just snuffed out. There was cigarette burns all over the bathroom in both our burns. Window goes into the hallway, not outside. There were stains and brown marks on the walls and floor. Thankfully we were able to leave and get a refund with no issues. But definitely read the reviews before staying here.

Had a great stay for the night, perfect if you're seeing a sports game or concert. Free shuttle to and from anywhere in Downtown Detroit until 12AM. Room was a little small and had no windows, but it was fine for the night. Breakfast was pretty bad, if everything was stocked it would be a different story, but it was nearly empty. Not even bread.

  • 1/5 T.BIX 2 years ago on Google
The parking lot had trash and empty cans in it when we arrived and was very slippery from ice. The hallways were filthy. There is no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor with a back disability. The room smelled like raw sewage. Turns out the front corner of the room shares space with the 3rd floor wash/ utility room, the door was open in the morning from the hall into that room. The large porcelain sink was very dirty and unkempt in that room. When we turned on the water to brush our teeth it came out brown. Luckily we brought a case of bottled water for personal use. The bottom of the bathroom door was rotted away and ready to fall off the hinges. We were afraid to shower there. The mattress was badly broken down. We couldn't use the microwave because the duplex outlet in the wall behind the entertainment center had a 3x1 nongrounded adapter with no 3rd ground terminal plugged into it with the television and refrigerator plugged in and was too crowded for the microwave, the other outlet in the duplex outlet had the cable box plugged into it.

I wish I could give this hotel a better review. But it is so desperately in need of updating. The comforter was disintegrating, the sheets were discolored and questionably clean, there was a hair on them, my bath towel had something brown and questionable on it and there was standing dust on the curtains. A short in the lamp would cause it to turn on and off. The place had an overwhelming smell off too much air freshener. Flooring was stained and yucky and the toilet paper holder was broken and missing. However, the staff was mostly very kind, as well as the shuttle drivers which were available for free. I hope this place is able to make the upgrades it needs.

  • 1/5 Claudia G. 2 years ago on Google
Don't be deceived by the pictures. It looks updated but that is all. The sheets were dingy at best and stained! There were rips in the blanket from the wear. There was a big hole in the wall in the bathroom facing the shower! The bathroom door did not lock and previously had a hole that was badly "patched" and painted over not to mention the white door was soo dirty from use. The pillows were so used they were lumpy and shapeless. Vending machine was smashed into, giant hole in glass & everything gone. No sign, not taped off just there broken and empty. Cost was $120 for the terrible sleepless night. It felt VERY unsafe and dirty @baymontbywindham

The pictures are deceiving. This hotel need a definite new over-haul. Its your neighborhood trap house. The front desk representative was very nice. The area where food is supposedly service is digusting. This is not a place for comfort. vehicle security or a donut.

This room was not what I expected. Staff was nice. The hallways were hot like they had heat blowing in the halls. The TV wasn’t run down, and the remote didn’t work. The bed was dirty and the covers and sheets were dingy and dirty. The bathroom hadn’t been clean, the tub was dirty. I could not get over all that so we checked out. I am waiting to see if I get my refund if not it’s going to be a problem. We stayed there 10 minutes and left.
