If you visit Detroit and you like art you have to come here. It is a magnificently large place with many famous pieces. So many iconic works here. Make sure to check out the piece by Tyree Guyton (creator of the Heidelberg Project) and other works by Diego Rivera (they have the murals here).

One of my favorite places in Detroit. Situated within Detroit institute of arts building, not many people know about this place. Rustic walls and sky high transparent roof makes the environment very special to spend some quality time with a cup of coffee and books. Not a wide variety of food options available. Few sandwiches, fries, chips, alcohol, and Starbuck's coffee. It's worth a visit.

This place has a fantastic interior! It’s so unique and beautiful that it makes you wanna stay in and visit again just for the atmosphere. We took some lattes and the were fine! Service was nice and fast and later they came to pick up the coffee ☕️ cups from the table. There is a wi-fi, although it’s not super fast, so i preferred using a hot spot from my cell phone. Overall great experience and will be coming back more!

Not too crazy about the plates being as heavy as they are for something that is charged by how much it weights and the roasted vegetables from the salad bar weren't that great, but other things I had were really good. The pizza was really good too. If you're on a budget or can't spend that much, you might want to avoid because it is pricey. Some of the staff was also kind of rude.

Best cupcakes I have ever had! The lady who rang me up, Shya, was a little rude, but that did not ruin my cupcake.

Cool place to sit post-museum traversal. I purchased the chocolate bumby cake. It was bumpy… I have no clue what gluttonous buttonous of a person would purchase this just for themselves though. It can feed 6 people, at the least. Not that great though, I was expecting a traditional chocolate ganache.

5 starts on atmosphere alone. Great place for a 1 on 1 business meeting or even something a bit more intimate and friendly.

Besides the amazing art institute, you cannot miss the cafe inside. The food and drinks were all delicious and VERY affordable. The courtyard was stunning with pieces of art hanging around (the original Medici coat of arms can be found there)

Food was pretty bad. Closed very early. They closed early and then made pizza in our faces. The girl making the pizzas was rude. Whole staff was rude. we offered to buy a pizza they just made but one of the workers said I think we are closed. Y'all need to work on your manners and business.

For museum food…. It’s not bad at all. It’s semi buffet. We are vegetarians. There were of course … the salad bar, which looked pretty hefty. Typical veggie soup. The sandwich kiosk bar didn’t have any vegetarian choices. The entree’s (steak?) kiosk didn’t have “vegetarian” labeled on the menu. Until I ordered a side of Brussels sprouts. The server told us that one side of the bar is a vegetarian meal. Vegetarian steak! And it was actually delicious! Even the Brussels sprouts! There were some pizza / looking focaccia bread at the end. ***I just want to point out that the pictures on this Google review are mixed. Cafe DIA and Kresge Court are totally different eateries. With different menus. Cafe DIA is when you wanna eat eat. Kresge Court is when you wanna hang out 😆 (Kresge Court has the brick layout. A smaller walk up order where the line tends to be a little longer. We went around lunch time. But better seating, a lot prettier, especially when it’s sunny out due to the glass ceiling.)

Great place to spend time and take break while visiting the different sections. For quick bite or for a drink. Enjoying the great atmosphere and the great view.

Surprisingly good for a cafeteria. Be prepared to wait for your food if you order from the grill, but it's good. Pizza is not the best. Overall, recommended.

Nice for a cafeteria. The salad is charged by weight, so just get what you are actually going to eat. They have good soup and desserts. Sometimes the main dishes are nice. If you are a Wayne Student or DIA member, you get 10% off!
