I went to check out Burn Fitness to see what it was all about and determine if it was a good fit for me. It wasn't. There's a fee to sign up, plus two months payment (first and last), plus an additional club improvement fee of some sort, plus you had to give over 30 days notice of your intent to cancel. Based on my estimates of how much money from the annual club improvement fee that Burn Fitness was raking in each year, it seemed to me that the money wasn't being spent on the club itself, but rather to line the owner's wallet. When I had asked them what improvements had been made that year, I was told that they had installed new shower dividers/doors. Those must have been some very, very expensive shower dividers. All said and told, my gut told me that this place seemed more concerned with obtaining your money than helping you attain your health goals. I suspect I'm correct because the gym was virtually empty when I took the tour during what I was told were peak hours. They probably need all of the members they can get in order to pay the rent for such a large retail space. I found that there was nothing about Burn Fitness that made them stand out from any other gym. Be sure to do some comparison shopping if you're considering a membership here! I hope this review helps some people avoid all the fees that this place tries to throw at you!

I joined Burn Fitness several weeks ago as I was looking for a gym close to home. Given the current CV19 situation, my second biggest consideration was safe practices. I took a quick tour with Dan (who was very nice). I didn't bring my white gloves but was looking to see what the general level of cleanliness was. First off, their policy is for staff and members to wear face coverings. THANK YOU! (I toured another local gym and not one person (staff or clients) was wearing a mask... unreal.) Back to Burn Fitness. During my tour, there as a staff member running a vacuum in the middle of the day, a good sign. Looking at the equipment, I was surprised to not see dust on the equipment or debris around the base (areas that are tight are harder to clean). It was clear that they cared about cleanliness. So I joined and I've been there almost every day for 2 weeks. During my time there, staff is very friendly, always saying hello. Many times, I have seen staff pushing a dust mop across the floor, wiping equipment, and even using a duster to dust off parts of apparatus that nobody would see. SOLD. This place feels so much cleaner that when I was a member at Lifetime. Lifetime has a ton to offer (at a higher price), but it is also very crowded at times (during peak hours you may not get the stations you want in the weight area). Also, at Lifetime, there were times I felt I was a Junior High social (tons of young teens). At Burn, it feels more calm, the ages of people working out that I seen thus far range from 20-60 and people are there to work out. Overall, I really recommend this place if you are looking for a clean place to work out and respect others that want to work out with people that wear masks.

When the pandemic hit in March, I called the gym and spoke with someone on the phone asking to cancel my membership. I was assured it was canceled by the guy on the phone and everything was going to be alright. Flashforward to December of this year and I find I’ve been getting charged since September by this gym. When I asked for a refund and sent a screenshot of my bank statements I got a very snarky email back saying “If I had canceled I would have been asked to send an email.” They refuse to refund me my 121 dollars back. Remember to check your account when dealing with this gym. You’ll see hidden charges pop up all the time and they’re very tricky about how they bill you. Way better options in Rochester Hills. Look elsewhere. ***Edit: money was refunded

I had a not so nice experience this morning. I didn't have my card to sign in so the guy at the desk gives me an attitude. He said we are not going to go thru this and here is your card. The previous staff never ever gave me a hard time. Andrew, Kristine, Sarah and few more were very nice. They always sign me in. I never had to ask. Social distancing is not followed by some staff members.. The girls keeps cleaning machine if you call it cleaning that have not been used. Sorry to say that but this place is not what it used to be.

Nice gym. I was in town for work and lifted there for a day. Reasonable day pass for traveler. $10 I think. Clean, well kept, well stocked. They do not have miles of gear, one of most everything, but for a smaller strip mall gym its very good. I believe its a local "chain" of 3-4 gyms,,, similar in size and scope to most Anytime Fitness, except a notch above. People were very nice. They have a nice shake bar at the front desk.

This place is incredible, whoever built it really went all out with the equipment, quality, layout, atmosphere, everything. Solid setup of racks, barbells, and bumper plates with 8 positions available in the free weight room. Place is very clean, has good assortment of things available for purchase at front counter, and great pricing for visitors. The staff was really nice and helpful too. Very attentive and do great job maintaining the equipment and overall cleanliness. Andrew was great with my on boarding. Looking forward to more business travel so I can stop in here for workouts!

During the pandemic once they were finally cleared to open they didn't bother to call anyone they just charged everyone for that month. Now doesn't that seem unfair there's people that can't even go out now let alone a gym. Didn't call anyone to ask if they wanted to resume their membership just started charging people. So I called and asked for a refund because of course I don't feel safe going to the gym, and they refused. So they won't let me get a refund even though I didn't even go in at all. Plus you can't even call to cancel you have to email them. Just a scam I'd advice you to take your business elsewhere if you want a decent gym because Burn Fitness only cares about your money not safety.

I’ve been a member at burn since 2014 and I think this is the best gym in the area. High quality equipment, and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. There is a wide variety of options available for people who like to work out alone, or there are classes and personal trainers available. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re considering a gym in the are!

I followed my trainer to Burn. Kati is great! The Rochester facility is clean, the equipment is maintained, staff and members are friendly and helpful. I'm continuing on toward my goals! I'm hoping the Rochester facility will purchase a sled. We had one at my other gym and I loved it. (Hint, hint to the owner.) 😆 The first & last month's fee is normal. I'm hoping the yearly maintenance fee will by the Rochester gym a sled and maybe one more rowing machine. The monthly fee is affordable. I'm happy I joined Burn Fitness. I'd recommend it to anyone!!

😠 Everytime I have been to this location, there is always an issue, from cleanliness to staff selectively enacting policies amongst patrons. I've never experienced a franchise so poorly run with no cohesive standards. Today was a new low in making me feel so physically uncomfortable I left immediately...

😠 Ann Marie is disrespectful, rude, and you don’t want to bump into her she’s a typical KAREN! I’ve been a member since 2012 and I was told i’m grandfathered in to the Rochester club when they moved up the membership level. I utilized the club all summer long and no one stopped me at the front desk....

😠 Great gym in terms of equipment. However, the entire company is a scam and is full of snakes.
